"The draft is not a detailed scientific analysis of the global warming crisis"

Pope Francis will this week call for changes in lifestyles and energy consumption to avert the “unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem” before the end of this century, according to a leaked draft of a papal encyclical. In a document released by an Italian magazine on Monday, the pontiff will warn that failure to act would have “grave consequences for all of us”.

“Humanity is called to take note of the need for changes in lifestyle and changes in methods of production and consumption to combat this warming, or at least the human causes that produce and accentuate it,” he wrote in the draft. “Numerous scientific studies indicate that the greater part of the global warming in recent decades is due to the great concentration of greenhouse gases … given off above all because of human activity.”

Fine. Get your followers to use birth control, and then we'll talk.

This is why I am leery of Pope Francis and I have been since the beginning. He comes from marxist argentina and he is admittedly a socialist, so...

This could be the last straw for many Catholics. This is not even in the Top Ten of the Church's problems. It is time to break off and create a new church, let priests marry and have a family. That could help with the dire shortage of priests.

This Pope is terribly misguided. His priorities are very much misplaced. He makes statement after statement that apologists explain away as being "misinterpreted" or "twisted" by the media.

Michael Haz told me about this article that speaks to what we should do.

The Benedict Option means that faithful observant traditional Catholics will have to hunker down. It will be a smaller church. A more cohesive church. It would lose most of its money and power. It would have to be humble and devout.

It is time for traditional Catholics to make their voices be heard.

If you want to follow the latest politically correct trend you need to be an Episcopalian.

From the article "Is it Time for the Benedict Option"

Is the Benedict Option the way of the future? I believe it is already here. Even now, we are seeing a separation evolving in the Catholic Church in the United States. Large numbers of Catholics are already more American than Catholic. They see no problem with divorced and remarried couples coming to Communion, and they accept same-sex “marriage” and want the Church to “get with the times” over many other issues.

Parishes go with their pastor’s guidance along the path of accommodating and accepting the current cultural trends.

Meanwhile, other pastors lead congregations that are uncompromising and clear in their Catholicism. No longer loyal to geographical parishes, Catholics are voting with their feet, and “Benedict Option” parishes are emerging — not aware that they are part of a growing movement.

These parishes of intentional disciples are part of another trend identified by George Weigel in his book Evangelical Catholicism. He recognizes that such people and parishes are vibrant in their commitment to the fullness of the Catholic faith. They are made up of well catechized and committed Catholics who are alert to the signs of the times and ready to live out their faith in the midst of impending crisis. Weigel sees this development as a positive surge of faith and renewal in the Church."

I see that happening right now in Brooklyn which is called the "Borough of Churches."

There are three parishes in a thirty block radius of where I live. The two that are conservative and traditional are booming. Especially with young families who want to bring up their children in the faith of their fathers.

The liberal parish is faltering and might be consolidated.

The process is going forward even without a conscious decision to do so. The question is will the smaller church be able to survive the attacks of the government, social justice warriors and the progressive elite who will punish congregations that will not accept deviancy as part of their doctrine.

I think I can safely say that Father Martin Fox's parish will be one of those "St Benedict" parishes of traditional Catholic values. Read his wonderful blog "The Bonfire of the Vanities."

You will see what a Shepard looks like in real life.

When a Pope starts living like Jesus, I'll respect his advice. For now, maybe he can try endorsing the biggest path to reducing long term carbon emissions: birth control. Face it what all leftist want in the end is less people, and the free ones need to go first.

Speaking of Jesus, how is Al Gore's carbon footprint.

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Al,
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one that was really deep in the sand.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked Al about it.
"Al, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
I was in my jet. Woohoo, sucker!"

Francis is coming around -- remember when he said Catholics shouldn't breed "like rabbits"?.

Apparently he's not willing to become the next Paul V.

A true Catholic traditionalist should oppose not only AGW, but heliocentrism, too.

The sun revolves around the earth and human activity has no effect on either the atmosphere or the way that it regulates the climate.

These truths comes first. Investigation, later.

It's not too late to call for an Inquisition of the climatologists. They should be forced to perform miracles before being allowed to conclude that their sounder evidence is closer to the truth.

And before we do anything, we should ask Hutton Gibson what he thinks of all this. Fixations with tradition should, alone, define truth.

If Catholicism were like Judaism, Benedict would be a veritable Fiddler on the Roof - keeping his community irrelevant with fanciful ploys to hallucinate visions of enlightenment in places where only irrelevance and disintegration can ensue.

Woah woah woah… Slow down there just a minute! You do that and next thing you know they're liable to start pursuing rational thought. Blasphemy!

The ACA

Affordable Care Act

Passed on party line vote in the dead of night and nobody I know likes it. Even the dems I know are complaining about higher premiums for less coverage.

It's as if the Dems think the earth is flat or something.

The Benedict that the article refers to is St. Benedict although Pope Benedict is also mentioned. St Benedict founded the religious order that took his name. I don't see where it is anyone else's business what Catholics do in their own churches. The government needs to stay out of it but unfortunately the have not.by promulgating laws forcing contraception abortion and same sex marriage they are setting up a situation that is heading toward a crises.

I went to Catholic HS w/ a pair of identical twins, Peter and Paul Kramer. I have not seen them since graduation. I learned their mom, who was a teacher, died recently. In her obit it mentioned Peter is a doctor and Paul is a priest. So, I did some Google on Father Paul Kramer. Holy Fucking Shit!! He is a Jihadist Shiite priest that would make the angry Catholics here look like the Cuomo's. He has written several books including The Suicide of Altering the Faith in the Liturgy. There are YouTube speeches by this guy. He is out there, man..way out there!
