Moving

Moving heavy things around.

On their little skids. But look at those dents. This stuff is heavy.

This thing is so heavy you could not even push it. You could not even lever it onto its skid. It's so heavy it shears the skids apart.

And your police dogs can sniff all they like and signal but they will never discover the secret of the impossibly heavy wooden books.

Know why?

Because there isn't any dope in the portfolio drawers. Even if you could figure out how they open.

This is what I've been pushing around with nobody's help. All this stuff around here got pushed around.

Man, those are big books. Nice model too.

I see you have those screens that divide rooms and probably fold together. I love those. I have them too, better than walls in some particular cases.

When we moved into our house we had an ugly and ill-placed concrete patio. One day I rented a concrete saw and sliced it up into 3' by 3' slabs that we artfully rearranged into a pattern elsewhere. The slablets were so heavy that we had to move them around like the Egyptians moved stones but using PVC piping as "logs."

I use those "moving men" little thingy's all the time to move furniture in the store. It really works great.

That's definitely some heavy stuff you put on those sliders. I've been able to move king size beds by myself with them by putting a low profile floor jack under the bed to lift it up and get the sliders under it.

Several years ago I moved my refrigerator from the kitchen into the dining room (it's a long story). Before I started the move I bought some of those sliders and put them under the corners of the fridge and started pushing. It was a real struggle especially getting over the hump where the kitchen tile met the dining room wood. They didn't slide very well at all and kept slipping out from under the corners. But I got it there finally.

Last year the fridge went out and I needed to move it out of its cubbyhole to try a repair job.

It was then that I discovered that it had wheels.

You don't need skids if the surface is flat, just get a couple of those small low dollies. You can move anything with them. The only problem is keeping the wheels in the right direction.

But yeah, hiring a couple Mexicans is even easier.
