Marco Rubio: You don't win the Nomination by how many states you win....you win by coming in third.

Breibart News.com by Pam Key'

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio (R-FL) declared “the majority” of the electorate and Republican voters do not want Trump to be the GOP nominee and that the nominee is not selected by how many states are won.

Rubio said, “First of all, Nevada results are always a little different from what you see in other parts in the country. Their caucus system is different from even Iowa’s. Last time, Mitt Romney got over 50 percent, so Donald Trump actually underperformed what Mitt Romney did, not once but twice in this state. Look, I have been saying this for a long time now. This is an unusual election. Throw out everything you know about presidential politics because this year is very different. It’s been proven week after week. Right now what you have is a situation where Donald—the majority of the electorate, the majority of Republican voters do not want Trump to be the nominee. The problem is that they’re divided up among four people. At some point in South Carolina it was five people and before that seven people. Until there’s consolidation you don’t have a clear alternative to Donald Trump. And the argument we have made—I’m as conservative as everyone in this race, but I can unify the Republican party. You have seen with the number of people that weren’t with me initially. A lot of the establishment people didn’t want me to run. A lot went with Jeb or whoever, but they’re starting to consolidate across the spectrum with the understanding if we don’t come together, we’re never going to be able to provide a clear alternative to the direction that Donald Trump wants to take the Republican party and the country.”
You see coming in second or third is what counts. Losing in almost every demographic category is a winning strategy. Not showing up for CPAC or refusing to face the press after you lose is the only way to secure the nomination.
Look everyone Rubio knows does not like Trump. All of the reporters. The pundits on FOX News. The dudes from NRO that he meets at the steam baths. All of the big money guys who say they are behind him but are not giving any money just yet. They all hate Trump. The only people who like Trump are morons. You know. The out of work carpenters and construction guys. All of those people from Orlando who lost their jobs wearing Mickey Mouse Suits at Disney World to visa holders from India. All those under educated people that stupid Trump says he "loves." A consultant who worked for those great Republicans Arlen Specter and Pat Roberts put his finger on it. As reported on Breibart “It’s kind of Archie Bunker types,” said Glen Bolger, a veteran Republican pollster who is unaligned in 2016 but opposed to Trump.
It is a winning strategy. I think he got it from Fulgencio Batista or something.
Muy bueno Senor Rubio.

Really. I thought I was foaming at the mouth pretty good right there.

I can't not give Bags and April something to complain about.

Rubio is such a weasel he is trying to steal Trump's bad hair gimmick.

"Can't not?" Who talks like that?

My only excuse was that I am channeling Melania so my English is not so good. Sorry.

He needs a hat. With a slogan.

"Make America Mexico Again"

He gets the votes of some women because he's pretty.

And I will leave it there.

because he's pretty.

Where else is there to take it?

He's gotta do the Biden plugs thing now because he's clearly loosing it.

Oh! That reminds me, Dumbo the flying elephant called and left a message: tell the Fennec fox to tell the California leaf nose bat to tell the Basset hound to tell Charles Prince of Whales to knock it off with the jokes. They're making Rubio look ridiculous. And he's returning the replication King Tut earrings because nobody wears those clunky things, look, it's not funny! That's what the elephant said.

Listen. When he tries to talk too earnestly there is an edge of weepiness to his voice that is off-putting.

OT, but FWIW, Trump is now tied with Cruz in TX.

If that holds, Ted's done.

Its just like the McCain-Romney-Huckabee situation in 2008. In order to stop McCain either Romney or huckabee had to drop out after Florida. But both men like McCain more than the other guy. So they both stayed in. Result: McCain.

Same situation. And there's only room for 1 Cuban-American Republican Senator at the Top.

One reason I like Trump is he fights back. Like this response to Mittens:

"Mitt Romney, who totally blew an election that should have been won and whose tax returns made him look like a fool, is now playing tough guy"

Cruz is a non-starter in the general. His probably-faux hyper-religiosity is a non-starter in the general.

The thing about Trump is he will blast it from the rooftops, and not let up, about emails and Benghazi. I don't think Scalia was assassinated, but Trump might be.

Cruz talks too fast. No, seriously. I saw him do it in the debates and thought it was because he only had a limited time and a lot of points to make. But I just watched him answer a few questions from the audience in a more relaxed town hall setting and he's doing the same thing.

Rat-a-tat-tat. One word after another with little modulation and few pauses. I knew what he was talking about and still had trouble following his reasoning. He's debating when he should be appealing and explaining and convincing. He's the anti-Churchill. Combine that with his rather unfortunate facial construction and I'm holding on to my opinion that he can't win the general barring a cataclysmic breakdown by the opposition.

That's a shame as he's the candidate I'm most closely aligned with on the issues. But you've got to win.

Cruz talks too fast

I experience him as Hillary's barking dog! Too much dominant certainty with an underlying intensity that edges on "fix and convince" with a dash of "because I know better" and "because I said so" thrown into the mix.

Whereas the Donald is all over the board but oddly focused, a vibrating ball of moving energy. Ball Lightning!

Whether Cruz's religiosity or spiritual leanings are authentic or not, his use and misuse of his publicly stated Christian beliefs will not garner him a majority of the votes.

I like Cruz. Maybe he should run for Prime Minister of Canada.

Truly inspirational men all around. How you can get wood for any of them is beyond me, but Kim Kardashian and Kanye are sex symbols, and very popular, so I'm terribly out of touch with something..........stupid.

MamaM said...

No need to throw Kim and Kayne into the pot, or confuse the issue of getting votes with getting wood.

To inspire is to breath. Which campaigns are showing signs of vitality, energizing voters and causing a locked media to come undone? Change does not happen without the discomfort of feeling out of touch with something....stupid or otherwise.

Sheesh.

Ah, Rubio, oh, Rubio:

The very incarnation of a shallow leader created by folks so desperate to hurry along a dream candidate that those folks didn't bother to notice that they were creating an empty suit out of someone who might have had substance, later, had he not been encouraged to think, too soon, that persona mattered more than works, not to mention thoughts.

Rubio is smart , well spoken and the future of the GOP. His only crime was the gang of 8.

Trump is a populist democrat who thinks price controls on drugs are a good idea. so do Hillary and Bernie. What a joke.

Trump is a populist liberal.

Although I did smile big when he said "we're going to keep Gitmo open and fill it with bad dudes."

That was good. I'll give him credit for that. Meanwhile, he still a populist liberal.

The same could be said of Benedict Arnold and the selling of West Point.
