Keep the faith Mr. President

I am very pleased to see that the God Emperor is keeping faith with his campaign promises and keeping out of more endless wars in the Middle East. Yes the Deep State and the freckless Fake News Media is banging the drum for war after the drone was shot down by the mullahs. They even loaded up for bear and were ready to bring the hammer down. But the President looked at it and said why kill 150 people for the sake of a drone. Yes it costs money. So he upped the sanctions on the personal accounts of the courrpt elite of Iran and didn't touch off a war the way they wanted him to do.

Now the situation has really changed. We don't care about the free flow of oil through the Straights of Hormuz. You see we don't need the oil anymore. We are a net supplier of oil. Anybody that needs it can buy it from us. Let the Japs or the Chinks go to war to protect those oil tankers. It ain't our problem anymore.

Bolton and the rest of the neocons in and out of the White House can bitch and moan all they want.

We are putting America First.

Hope so too. But Trump hired Pompeo, Pence, and Mr. Moustache. They stayed on when Mattis quit, reportedly because Trump wanted to draw down our troops in Syria (a good thing IMO). So in my mind there is some contradiction there I can't quite figure out.

Except I would not conclude we are oil independent. I think it is a bubble.

Like John and Tank I hope and so far believe you are right. I do worry like John about Trump's advisor, but I also think they can be level headed.

I disagree about the bubble, unless a question of how long the US can stay oil independent. I think we can for a decade or more. That could be a bubble, but I think that is long enough to transform our position with the Middle East and develop new technology to lower our demand and develop a better ratio of natural gas and oil. I think renewables will improve, but not nearly enough in the next 50 years.

I do think demand can decrease. I look at our smart phones of today. You may not personally like a smart phone, but millennials do. Think about what you would have had in 1980 to equal that smart phone capability. How much energy would you new color TV set use? I'm sure you were proud of the 800W (or more, a lot more) sound system. Maybe you had a computer with a 200W power supply with monochrome monitor. And you'd use these things under a couple of 60-100W lightbulbs. And oh yeah, you had a plug in telephone that you couldn't take with you in your 18 mpg car. Population growth has offset many of those improvements to lower energy demand, but more is coming. Remember, the US is the only country to have met Kyoto and Paris accord emission reductions.

I think we will be energy independent unless the Democrats come back in power and stop drilling and fracking. That is possible but I think unlikely.

The whole complexion of the Middle East has changed. The God Emperor can let Israel slip the leash and together with the Saudi's they can decimate Iran. What could the pussies in the EU say if the Arabs and the Jews combine to destroy the Iranian regime.

It is all about money in the end. That is why we can ignore Venezuela which the Necons would have us go into to nation build. It is all bullshit. Leave them to stew in their own juices. Tell the EU "Hey we told you about meeting your NATO commitment cause if you did you could do something."

Trump was talking about Japan and said if Japan would be attacked it would be World War 3 that we would be fighting and the Japs would be watching it on their Sony's will our blood and treasure would be spent.

I love this guy. He tells the truth and the diplomats and the press run around with their pants on fire.

But fracking is a bubble. It increases the permeability of the rock in the vicinity of the well thus potentially increasing its short term productivity, Fracking industry speculators made a big thing about the short term, not so much about the long term. The oil/gas fields eventually settle down to produce what the reservoir outside the fracking zone will let it. Cant fool mother nature for long.

But I'd like to think Leland is right - making the bubble last a decade or more, entirely possible, could change the whole Middle East equation.

I like the abiogenic theory for how petroleum is formed. I also read that some oil fields, such as the ones in the Gulf of Mexico now contain more oil than when they were first tapped.

But 10 years? Meh - I'll turn into coal by then.

These guys knew about such things.

Trump isn't stupid.

He wants all alternatives available. If Bolton like shoot first, it's always a consideration.

A step up from Zippy who needed yes-men who distilled every decision into a list of check boxes.

But they insist Zippy was the brain.

Buchanan says get rid of Bolton for Tulsi Gabbard. That would be kind of a coup. I just hope she's not his type.

Bolton must go NOW!.
