With the use of CC I was able to understand a bit o' tha', I was. Never had any of those desserts, so I can't comment on the foodstuffs, but the actors seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I can attest that Spinelli's father is correct. The food I had in Ireland, with few exceptions**, was bland, boring, tasteless and sometimes just downright weird....and I come from Irish heritage.
The weirdest was a chicken salad. Consisted of a cold boiled chicken leg/thigh combo on a plate with a cold whole peeled hardboiled egg and I don't remember what else because I was stunned by the naked cold chicken leg and egg. I once ordered mashed potatoes as a side and that is exactly what it was. A boiled and smashed potato. As if someone just put it on the plate and mashed it flat with their hand.
*The best was at a B&B in the south of Ireland at a working farm. (Dairy and Hogs) One of the older Victorian style horse barns had been turned into guest rooms. For dinner one night we had fresh caught trout pan fried/sauteed in some butter and herbs, fresh picked shelled green peas and little carrots and YES...boiled potatoes, but they were little baby potatoes and were so good with lots of butter.
I grew up with Italian neighbors (and remain close like family) and when it comes to home- cooked Italian culinary delights, sweet or savory, I have ZERO complaints.
Either these people in the video actually are strange and whiney, or else the producers encourage them to act that way.
I assume it's an act; I hope so; because I cannot imagine really acting that way. Oh, it's something different. Try it. Like it, or don't like it. Move on.
Some new neighbors moved in and threw a big party last summer. The party was catered and it was good. The dessert was brought in separate from a local Italian restaurant - a big honking pan of tiramisu. Everyone had it piled high on their plates. It was amazing, and word spread fast. It was the best thing at the party and the entire pan was scarfed.
I came to tiramisu late in life. One of my greatest regrets is that I it was not around back in the days when I could eat anything and not gain weight.

As my father would say, "The Irish eat boiled, bland, food so they don't throw up that good whiskey they make."
That was entertaining.

What if you're Irish AND Italian like someone we all know?
They must have been from Ulster, sound English.
PS oopsy, the whole of the British Isles has no cuisine, not just the Micks.
The best of Ireland is all exported — stuff like Kerrygold butter, Bailey’s Irish Cream, potcheen, and of course her best people.
Plus they have that tap dance thing going. Who doesn't like watching young girls bouncing up and down?
DBQ - the moral of your story is... butter and herbs.

Tiramisu made properly - makes the toes tingle.
