Jon McNaughton, artist

The artist was taken by the phrase, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

Then the artist thought, sure, but the man must take the pole and actually fish for himself. Teaching is useless without action.

Very good point.

I'm guessing that's a fishing license on the tackle box.

Just goes to show that Trump is more accepting of others.

Forgot to say that it's a winning strategy.

Under the category of "forgot", I found his new painting "You Are Not Forgotten" powerful. Not sure if it is the snake, the fragile nature of the small tree/plant being planted or the sea of witnesses gathered to watch and wait that has the most visual impact for me, but it achieves his purpose, "to use metaphor and multiple levels of meaning to reach the viewer".

Some of the themes are controversial, but I feel strongly about what is happening in our world today. There are three kinds of people who view my paintings: Those who like it, those who hate it, and those who simply don’t understand. I am especially interested in this last category. I hope my work will create conversation and reach people on a deeper level.
