I might as well answer that question, only DBQ's husband, of folks around here would know - it is that obscure. That is a Kaiser Traveler, kind of the proto-hatchback, made from '51-'53. The cut line above the rear window is the giveaway.
It really was kind of a cool car - in those pre-seatbelt days my father used to load an entire cub scout troop in the back and off we'd go. Our dog loved riding in the back. Good times...
Pop sold it for $100 bucks in '56 or so - it was junk by then. Not so good times...
Sixty's music link and my own love of Berlin led me to learn that the Germans are reconstructing their royal palace in downtown Berlin: link The original was badly damaged during the war and was demolished by the commies. The heir to the Hohenzollern throne (Kaiser Willy's gggrandson) is waiting in the wings.
That is me and my next oldest brother. The little girl was our neighbor. Carol is the oldest daughter of German Jewish refugees who managed to escape from Nazi Germany. Her father, whom we called "Doc" was the local pharmacist and ran the Rexall drug store in town. I wish I knew more of their story, but hey, I was just a little sprout and nobody told me anything.
