"Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport gunman in custody"

Via Drudge : Mark Lea, a 53-year-old financian adviser from Minneapolis, says he was in baggage claim when the shooting started.
'I was dodging bullets and trying to help people get out of the way,' Lea said.

'At first we thought it was firecrackers,' he said. 'Everyone started screaming and running. The shooter made his way down through baggage claim. He had what looked like a 9mm and emptied his entire clip. People were trying to run.'

Video from the airport Friday afternoon showed hundreds of passengers corralled together on the tarmac with emergency vehicles parked outside the terminal with lights flashing.

Around 1:45pm, law enforcemeent started the crowds off the tarmac, by bus and on foot.

Former White House press secretary to President George W. Bush, Ari Fleischer, was at the airport at the time of the shooting and tweeted about the chaos.
Just after 1pm, he wrote that 'shots have been fired. Everyone is running'.

That makes two places in the last week were I have been many times getting totally messed up.

First it was the LIRR train coming into the Flatbush Avenue Station crashing. I used to ride that every day.

Now the airport in Florida where I fly into visit the family. The baggage claim area is right off the front door. There is no security at all. You just walk in and get your bags right off the street.

There is a chance Santiago was going by another name recently, another name with some religious significance maybe?

"Suspected Gunman Told FBI He Was Being Forced To Fight For ISIS"

I called it.

Breitbart's got a bunch of information about the guy, including a photo of him wearing a keffiyeh and quote that he said he was "forced to fight for ISIS." Was known to the FBI for reasons unstated; brought to FBI's attention by an employer in Alaska who was concerned about statements (unstated) he had made. So, facts still unclear. Apparently, he was did not come in on a flight from Canada.

"They add that in November 2016, he walked into an FBI office in Anchorage claiming that he was being forced to fight for ISIS. He was sent to a psychiatric hospital."

I'm guessing disaffected former low-level (prob. non-combat) military.

I heard that his brain was hacked by the Russians so he could help Trump get elected.

Amartel said...

But we can't be sure because the DNC had his brain (Password: "password") investigated by their own private investigator and then bleachbitted and won't turn it over the FBI. So it's still all speculation at this point.

Damn. Too early to understand why.

If it's the 4th of July and you hear what seems to be fireworks, OK. Any other time or place, assume it's gunfire and take appropriate measures. You're welcome.

I like it better when these things end with "the gunman was shot and killed by Police".

Lindbergh field in San Diego is the same way. Baggage claim is literally just a few feet from the terminal drop of for auto traffic. It's tragic what happened, but the FBI knew this guy was a menace and didn't temporarily take his guns away. He was on their radar. The government is always touting how they don't want the crazies to get or continue to own guns, so here is a prime example of government dropping the ball again. Government is simply not equipped to handle anything anymore. It's just a large, fat, bloated obese pig falling on all of us in slow motion.

So the anti-2a, anti-gun dickheads will now be out in force claiming some sort of maudlin piety on the subject while hard working american citizens will further see their rights curtailed for the nannyists need to control and 'feel' safety in the name of taking away your liberties. Granted, the shooter allegedly legally checked in the handgun at the airport in Alaska and I've traveled with weapons in an appropriate and legal way before, if not it being nerve racking the first few times. It is a bullshit hassle, but once you know the ropes it's pretty seamless.

We need to admit in this country that people POP. that they lose their shit for one reason or another. They become cracked or broken and become defective and when that happens, they need to be dealt with immediately. Not pre-emptively, but quickly. It's a razors edge, but I'd rather see citizens armed than not. The 99.99999% of us would have put this guy down instead of being fucking sheep waiting to get slaughtered. Look at those pictures in the baggage claim of people just ducking and hoping this guy misses. it's a total numbers game. Fuck.
