KLEM FM

I think that's a Smokey Robinson song in the background. Our local expert, darcy, could confirm this.

A while back I started wondering when and why it was that rock and roll music lost it's danceability.  See here for example. That was from 1956 when partner dancing was still going strong. Tonight's video purports to be from 1964, ten 8 years after.  I'm closing in on a more exact date.

So the other night I was musing out loud at TOP about the origin of the term "magic carpet ride" with reference to drugs. link. I mean, Steppenwolf had a song with that name in 1968, but Paul Revere and The Raiders references the term in 1966 -- fully two years earlier. I wondered what middle eastern influence had hit America ca. 1965-66. Then it hit me, just today. The answer is obvious: link

Columbian hookers must be pretty damn hot. On the other hand, I think there are a lot of transsexuals down there, which fact I bring up because I'm so surprised that the 25 year old hooker-hiring former Obama White House volunteer who now consults the government on women's issues would choose a female prostitute. But, then, one shouldn't stereotype.

Disclosure: I have nothing against transsexuals and have never had an encounter with a transsexual except for that one time I had a pleasant conversation with a waiter/waitress at a transsexual Chinese restaurant in the French Quarter. The menu was limited and the food was disappointing. The waiter/waitress had some complexion issues.

Make sure you don't catch ebola while musing over there.

Going to a Go-Go was recorded by the Miracles, before they were Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.

I am not Darcy but I can read Wikipedia, which is never wrong.

I always liked this example of yutes dancin' and whatnot.

I took a music appreciation class in college.

The professor guy said that there is art music, and there is folk music, and that there is no other kind. He also said that all music appeals to the emotions, the body, or the mind.

He was proud to tell us of the piece he wrote for seven dog whistles.

He liked none of us and nobody liked him.

Yes, yes they were. I miss them and I miss the times.

Now is not as fun.
