"Doctor in New York City Tests Positive for Ebola"

"A doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the Ebola virus Thursday, becoming the city’s first diagnosed case."
The doctor, Craig Spencer, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center on Thursday and placed in isolation while health care workers spread out across the city to trace anyone he might have come into contact with in recent days.
Dr. Spencer
“Our understanding is that very few people were in direct contact with him,” Mr. de Blasio said.

Dr. Spencer had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea, treating Ebola patients, before returning to New York City on Oct. 14, according to a city official. (read more)

Please. Tell me why a newly returned doctor was not in isolation for at least 21 days. At one time we sent a man to the moon. Now we're stupid.

The comments at Insty cannot be topped. Read them and laugh. Then weep.

Of course this latest moronic act may not amount to anything, but on the other hand, it is costing us a bunch of money every time we import a plague carrier to this country.

Where are the Ebola Moms? Will they continue to vote democrat?

Or, will the government plead for tolerance for, in the words of a commenter over there, our fellow Ebola-Americans.

Obama thinks it's racist or some shit.

Opposing opinion - he wants us all dead.

Snazzy outfit to wear at the bowling alley, just sayin'.

Stalking the streets of New York City.

Again.

A couple of bad breaks and this could easily turn into a major catastrophe. They have to cut off travel into the US from West Africa.

The Dude said...

Only if you value the lives of Americans. Obama doesn't, so don't look for it to happen, unless the democrats really turn to shit in the polls.

Then, laser-like pivot!

I get the feeling they're purposely trying to find out how easily transmissible it is before symptoms show.

IIRC, the Apollo astronauts were quarantined after they arrived back.

I suppose that the CDC doesn't want to discourage groups like Doctors w/o Frontiers from traveling to and fro Africa. But when they do start quarantining and blocking, they'll start with Christian missionaries.

Wait for it.

I wonder what they did with this Airstream.

The taxi will probably end up in a Haz Waste landfill.

I had read about this earlier, but the news was about somebody with systems again. Don't want to spread panic they say.

deborah said...

Trying to de-scare the public. How much longer till the Kent State area is in the clear?

deborah said...

Good memory, chick, they did quarantine the astronauts.

The heat to do it will be getting intense, starting tomorrow. He'll fold and lay it off as a decision by the new Czar.

e-bowl-a-rama extravaganza!

I meant symptoms. Not systems.

Rabel said...

They had those too. Didn't work.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

For a hard to get virus, ebola sure gets around.

Rabel said...

When it gets totally out of control I'm heading to DBQ's. She's prepped. I'll just go to the gate and yell "I'm the crazy lady! I'm the crazy lady!"

You think that'll get me in?

john said...

I hear they set the shotguns by the front door in DBQ country. So it depends on how long her driveway is.

Whom will ebowla strike next? Whom will it spare?

Hard to screw this up any worse, and still they vote Democrat.

They must clean their toilets with their tongues.

And from the linked article:

He [Spencer told the authorities that he did not believe the protective gear he wore while working with Ebola patients had been breached but had been monitoring his own health.

OK, so given the CDC's insistence that only contact with bodily fluids transmits the disease, how did this transmission occur? A leaky suit, analogous to a leaky condom?

He went to the bowling alley. Hope he took his own shoes.

Won't that smelly stuff they spray in the shoes take care of the virus?

Not us, just the "intellects" in charge.

chick @ 11:38 PM

Looks like it. When you're up to your elbows in bodily fluids, for weeks on end (if he was there that long). I'd think if the gear is solid the danger is during disrobing.

Ed, more like the sociopaths in charge.

@ Rabel

You'll have to be wielding your avatar. I suggest it be at least 2ft square on a large stick for visibility. In addition you get to spend the next 4 weeks in isolation in a tent that we will pitch about 100 yards from the house. You won't like the tent because it is cold so you'd better bring some sort of a source of heat. We will throw food at you. I would offer the camp trailer but if you do come down with Ebola, I really don't want to have to burn up the camp trailer with you in it. I like the trailer and we might need it. The tent...meh.

Seriously. I am rather worried about the laxness exhibited by this doctor who really should have known better.

We, as a government, don't seem to have the balls to do what needs to be done, which is forcible quarantine and to block entry from the infected areas.

Every time I hear about these things, my first thought is....maybe I should buy some more tuna.... and check out the other supplies. I just dehydrated about 40 pounds of apples and bought a large supply of dehydrated milk :-) This stuff is really good. Actually, I buy it not for prepping (especially) but because it makes really good hot chocolate mix that I make up by the quart....and is great in coffee instead of that artificial creamer crap, for when we are camping.

Nothing wrong with being prepared for ANY eventuality including EBOLA or just not wanting to go to the damned store in a snow storm.

The Dude said...

It's not a bad idea to have some food on hand - even a bad storm can cause one to become house-bound around here. So I put a little by, hope for the best, but knowing that people like that idiot doctor and our "elite" rulers really want us dead.

I won't go easy, just sayin'.

The Dude said...

What's the difference between Ebola and Obama?

One is an unstoppable nation-destroying nightmare, the other is just a virus.
