Here. The execrable site Lawyers Guns and Money, a motley collective of "antizionist" (perfumed antisemitic) socialist academics with sloppy beer guts and ironic Expos hats. One of the whitest, most male-dominated third-tier blogs in existence, all of the contributors are white men, who spend their time railing against the white male hegemony, to an almost-entirely white male audience of a few dozen commenters. The commenters compete to see who can say "THIS." first in every thread. It's a sad echo-chamber of lickspittles eager to polish the knob of the author of the post -- sort of the antithesis of TOP.
Actually, they don't spend all of their time on the hegemony: They're also obsessed with Althouse. They loathe her over there.
More after the jump.
The innocuous Althouse post that they pounce upon concerns the very controversial issue of...the high-speed train accident. Althouse could write that water is wet, and these idiots would fling shit all over the internet falling all over each other trying to disprove it.
Althouse says of the accident:
I’m blogging this because it’s not an atypical incident and because too many people in America have unrealistic, idealized notions of the goodness of trains and their capacity to whisk everyone around everywhere at high speed.
And so the author of the post calls Althouse innumerate and a lunatic; because...more people die in automobile accidents per year, in Japan, (??), than die in train accidents.
Not accidents per mile traveled; no, she's innumerate because of the comparison of the absolute number of deaths of the two.
Someone actually brought this up in the comments:
And after 10 or 15 comments debating the subtleties of division, addition, and subtraction, the heretic is smacked down with this gem:
2011 Figures:
5.7 Fatalities per 100 million passenger train-miles
1.1 Fatalities per 100 Million Vehicle Miles Traveled
So their answer is: Sure, technically, our statement that trains are safer than cars isn't supported by your dark art, arithmetic -- rail kills more people per mile than cars. And sure, that's not even high-speed rail, which is probably quite a bit more dangerous than conventional. But those victims weren't actually on the train, so...they don't count.
All in all, it would appear that our rail system is, for passengers, notably safer than car travel. Rail is killing more people per passenger-mile than are cars, but (1) they’re not on the trains; (2) passenger-miles make little sense when discussing American train volume; and (3) the preponderance of the train victims probably result from bad infrastructure and maintenance.
Set aside for a moment the fact that Althouse never compared trains to cars, never stated that one was more dangerous than the other; these idiots lost an argument to their own strawman.
Jesus, these people are stupid. And vicious. From the post itself: “I occasionally wonder how much They pay Althouse to play a craven jackass online, then I realize They probably just ply her with flowers and an Internet Husband…”
A sampling from the comments: “This person is really a professor of law at Wisconsin?” (And you, a law professor!) “high on box wine”; “…butt-chugging cheap box wine…”;and so on. One commenter invites her to commit suicide on train tracks.
And then further down, a comment that's really quite instructive:
These are the Althouse readers who wanted her to do away with comments.
“Looks like she picked the right month to turn off comments. Oh wait, that would have been any month ever.”

The biggest problem with "mass" transit is that it's not really "mass" transit. It doesn't carry enough people.
The -real- problem with mass transit is that it just isn't reliable, safe, clean, comfortable or cost-efficient.
In a week, I spend about $50-$60 (about $10/day to and from work and another $15 or so doing misc. travel.) That's an awful lot to not have the luxury of a car; the cost sky rockets if I want to, you know, go places other than walking distance before/after work/weekends.
Pasta, this wins my award for best post on this blog so far.
Actually, you can look up the stats for the 1920s and 1930s when people were still traveling by rail, and compare the accident rates.
The current ones are deceptive because so few people travel by train vs. Car. The Railroads are primarily interested in moving freight, and they get priority over Amtrak trains.
Two apartments ago I had the coolest house that was like a cowboy house in the middle of gingerbread types, some Queen age, like Anne, ornamentations, the Baker area, and my landlord lived on the other side. Old as Time, something of an activist, Walk for Cuba sort of guy, first car a Model-T he bought for 5 bucks, had two twin boys twice my age, one an executive with a railroad, and the other one fairly severely retarded. They are identical except for that.
The retarded one loves riding the so-called high-speed rail, lets say, commuter rail, into town to the end, make the switch, come back. The old man takes the son once a week when the son visits from his community home where he lives in Pueblo. I went with them once, and the twin nearly pissed himself with excitement, just moving on the train. He held onto the pole tightened up and squealed even though there are plenty of seats.
"Settle down."
O
He would come over and I'd let him feed my fish. Kids of all ages always want to overfeed so I warned about that and carefully explained why that is so, why it is dangerous, and why it is bad and so forth, turn around and the whole top is covered with fish flakes floating down.
And the moral of these two intertwined anecdotes is trains are immensely enjoyable for tards, and that is not an unkind observation.
As for Althouse and the left. One reason she turned off the comments is she thought the comments were becoming a toxic dump of conservative views. And she didn't want to get smeared as a "conservative". She's stated repeatedly, that she's not a conservative, but that [paraphrase] conservatives like (now liked) to hang out in her comment section.
IOW, she has a lot more politically in common with the Lefties at "Guns and Lawyers" than some think.
As for reliable: There have been times when buses are supposed to come by every half hour, and I've walked three hours down the same route the bus goes and not seen a one. Imagine if I were not a relatively healthy young man and were, say, elderly, middle-aged, not in good health, or walking in a bad area. No way in Hell would I trust my safety to the whims of the bus driver.
And this is in the Metro DC area -- one of the areas where mass transit is at its best in the country.
Clean and comfortable are obvious problems, though the D.C. Metro system is cleaner than most American ones, I hear.
Now, take those two points (unreliable/cost-efficient), and you hit another point. The three to four hours a week I waste waiting for late buses/Metro trains are a lot of hours. Most people are productive during those wasted hours thanks to handheld devices/books.
But, there's an opportunity cost there. I can't apply for certain jobs because, even though the Metro/bus SAYS it will get me there and back again every day, odds are, most days, I'd be late if I don't buffer an extra hour or two each way. This is, essentially, geographically hamstringing people without cars who think they really can rely on public transit.
And, it gets more expensive and less reliable every year. Pretty soon, I'm just going to give up on it and get a car.
Synova said...
The biggest problem with "mass" transit is that it's not really "mass" transit. It doesn't carry enough people.
High-speed trains are also not that fast once you factor in stops. Nor are they particularly eco-friendly once you factor in running half-load trains and the transport to the end-points. So it basically has nothing going for it except spending government money on stuff liberals would find convenient.
Mass Transit is how many travel in the congested East Coast. Many people use it because traffic is a nightmare and parking costs a ton. Places like NYC, DC, Boston are places where it is used big time.
Wisconsin...no, they don't need it.
tits
But even in those places, mass transit is grossly inefficient and expensive. The week I was in Boston, I used their mass transit. It was, at least, not as crowded as D.C.'s, but I was only there during off-peak times and on vacation, so, the cost/crunch wasn't as bad.
You're mistaken, rcocean. Left or right, she has nothing in common with the people who are ill-equipped, intellectually, to read for comprehension what she writes but who have just enough wherewithal to make inane insulting comments.
Also, Pastafarian, calling her post "innocuous" misses just why that post of hers was so irksome to the lefties at LG&M. Read it again - carefully - and I think you might see that it was aimed at them and meant to irk them. But you have to slow down and read every word to get it. She has always written that way and many of her long-time readers (not necessarily commenters) love that about her.
The remark about bad maintenance as though we don't have to count those accidents, deaths or injuries because of course we could have *good* maintenance completely ignores that the very nature of trains means that when something goes wrong that it's going to be very bad... like an airliner crash. Cars are safer because if you "go off the rails" you're probably going to be fine. At worse you kill yourself and the innocent people in the car you hit. With seatbelts and airbags everyone might simply get out and walk away like the people Zimmerman helped out of their over turned truck.
Althouse said that the accident was not atypical... it was a clearly anti-rail post.
Of course the high speed rail mass transit is next to godliness huge projects are good for the economy idiots will find it irksome.
Can we not count the car accidents caused by bad maintenance? If we do that, how does that impact the numbers?
Hey wait a minute.

If you did a Venn diagram of Althouse's political beliefs and those of Lawyers and Guns, you'd find quite a bit of overlap. They hate her because she's a heretic, not because she's a conservative.
I think they're ignorant left-wing yobs, but still.
Jeez the name Fernando Covert sounds a bit like Carlos Danger.

"If you did a Venn diagram of Althouse's political beliefs and those of Lawyers and Guns, you'd find quite a bit of overlap."
Quite a bit? Whatever that means.
Add to your diagram the political beliefs of the self-identifying DOMA decision losers. You'll find an identical "quite a bit of overlap". Means exactly nothing.
Her political beliefs are those of a highly intelligent open-minded critical-thinking country-loving politically moderate American with a complex sense of humor and an extraordinary talent for reading, thinking, and writing.
Commenters at LG&M, just as so many of her own so-called "conservative" former commenters, have often tried to do "shorter Althouse" and invariably fail. Left or right, they just don't get her.
Train travel in America is not cost effective in most locals. I would be all for privatizing those routes it does make sense.
Safety generally is not an issue with train travel or airline travel (compared to automobile travel). But some people have irrational fears of that sort of thing.
"Fernando Covert" -- I used the word "innocuous" because nothing in the post seemed controversial enough to justify the shrill tone of their "counter". Or really any counter at all, of any tone.
I probably used the wrong word. I don't have a large vocabulary, and I didn't want to use "noncontroversial" because I used controversial in the same sentence.
(Actually, re-reading this, it's really poorly written. I'll blame Blogger. Yeah, that's it.)
I don't know how carefully to read an Althouse post, "Fernando". She jumped all over Salamandyr with poop-jokes because he spent TOO MUCH time reading them.
You tell me just where the Goldilocks zone is, and I'll try to hit that the next time.

Pasta, the Goldilocks zone is somewhere between - but not including - Thin-skinned and Dunderheaded. I know you can find your own sweet spot there somewhere. I've seen you do thousands of times.
rcocean -- you're right, they consider her an apostate and that's why they hate her.
But she's not really an apostate from the left, IMO. I think the left left Althouse. She's a classical liberal, one of a dying breed. LG&M are hard leftists.
They'd agree with her, in a way, on whether abortion should be legal. But you'll recall the Althouse paradox that abortion is murder, yet it should be legal, because of the woman's right of self-determination.
The overgrown adolescents at LG&M think abortion should be legal because it helps get them laid by not-terribly-choosey hippie chicks. They don't give a damn whether the fetus is viable, human, life, or tissue.
I'm sure they "agree" on a few other issues, but they arrive at those points by different routes, and there will be enough devil in the details to make a mess of your Venn diagram.
The contrast between Althouse and LG&M was clearest if you looked at her comments section, and theirs. They delete and ban anyone who effectively argues against them. Althouse welcomed all comers. That's the modern left, compared to classical liberalism, in a nutshell.
By the way, if anyone is interested,
here is a podcast from our local radio this morning, with a pretty good takedown of high-speed rail-a-phillia.

High speed rail. Google Detroit's people mover to see the cost of that monstrosity per mile (and then see how much it costs NYC to run theirs).
This is the reason high speed rail is not feasible in place as large and rural as America.
Fernando: "Btw, she has selectively turned comments on (with moderation)."
Well, that sounds very exclusive, Fernando. Very up-scale and high-end, all selective and shit.
I would imagine that she chose a pretty controversial topic for that, like legalizing gay marriage, or abortion, or family court decisions favoring women; and much of her post probably consisted of taunting and insults to commenters.
Because otherwise, such an experiment really wouldn't prove much...would it?
Yeah, Birches, but you try to get from Joe Louis Arena to your hotel room at 11:30pm on foot. If they didn't have the People-pusher, they'd need a fleet of APCs.

Ha. My reason + yours are reasons 20067 and 20068 of why Detroit is bankrupt.
"Peace pipe? I didn't know I offered one."
You were supportive and counterattacked a common adversary. I think it's reasonable to call that a peace pipe even if it was unintentional.
As a reward, your intelligence was insulted. I called that shoving it up your ass. I could be wrong.
I don't understand the point of this thread at all.
I mean, not one little bit,...
You are wrong, Rabel.
"I would imagine that she chose a pretty controversial topic for that, like legalizing gay marriage, or abortion, or family court decisions favoring women; and much of her post probably consisted of taunting and insults to commenters [dedicated to their own bigotry and extremely sensitive to it when called out]."
Peace.
That's the advantage of being a moron, Rabel: It is impossible to insult my intelligence.
just lobbing an insult at me actually flatters me, in that it must be assumed that I can read and understand it. It's like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, but...where was I going with that again?
Peace only works if it's a two-way process, Brother. Otherwise the pacifists always end up holding the stinky end of the stick.
Oh, OK then, Fernando.
So she did use a post that included insults and accusations aimed at (at least some) commenters then. OK, I can't argue with that, then.
I mean, if her post had been something so saccharine as, say...looking at records handed down from her father -- I mean, that would be absurd, wouldn't it? If she opened comments for something like that, where no one here, even Sixty Grit in his most enraged state, would possibly come in and say anything even remotely negative...and then you came in and said how great the comments were over there, compared to how they used to be...
Well, that would just be embarrassingly intellectually dishonest. Bereft of any integrity.
And if she were to comment in that same thread, and say something like "Oh, what a sweet bunch of comments..." Well, that would be just about too much, wouldn't it? Implying that those heathens and barbarians she had over there before, Synova and Paddy O, would have burst into the thread and called her a cocksucker.
So I'm really relieved to know that you two haven't completely lost your minds.
I didn't say pacifism. I said peace.
I'll tell you what, Fernando -- suggest this to Althouse. (I mean, assuming you see her. Maybe you're her new pool boy or something, I don't know.)
Suggest to her that she address her current crop of commenters in the same tone she used with the last bunch, the last few weeks of the blog. Compose a post entitled "You dumb racists don't read so well, do you?"
Then see what kind of high-level comments you get.
Sorry, Pasta, you lost me (and my dunderhead) there.
I lost you?
Read more carefully. I know you can, you've done it a thousand times.
Look over yonder
Well, he's talkin' to my baby
They found my peace pipe on her
Now they're draggin' her away
Lord knows we don't need a devil like him beatin' us around
Well, he's knockin' on my door
How my house is tumblin' down
Oh. Now I think I get you (and your thin skin).
What she has now (from Blogger) that she didn't have until a couple weeks ago is a setting called "moderation" in which, when all the poor dumb readers come in and spout their dumb racist vain babyish comments, she doesn't have to say, "You poor dumb readers who come in here and spout your dumb racist vain babyish comments don't read so well, do you?"
She just ignores them and leaves their dumb racist vain babyish comments in moderation limbo.
"Read more carefully. I know you can, you've done it a thousand times. "
Now, now. No need to get all prickly and superior-ish.
Pasta, at one point here (I believe), I said her final "La la la" was a slap in the face to us all, yet here you are standing up for her when you think she's in the right.
You're a good man, and, if I ever criticize you about the length of a post again, feel free to remind me of this.

Moderate is a meaningless label. Moderate in what? She voted for every Democrat POTUS candidate except Bush II in 2004. She supported Finegold. She's a self-described social liberal and Feminist. Everybody thinks they're "moderate" and not "extreme".
She certainly has taken conservative positions on some issues, and seems pragmatic/disinterested in some political areas - like economics.
But of course your response was not to be taken too seriously.

Although you are responsible for everything you have done at this forum.
Althouse takes on all comers, is that what Meade or Fernando or Carlos or whatever said?
Hmm. Kinda like Sasha Grey then I guess, eh?
Fernando: "Those were not her commenters whose scrunched up faces she laughed in (if that's the "abuse" you refer to). Those were mobys from LG&M."
You want me to crawl back through those posts and threads to find the specific taunts and insults, so that I can prove that they could not possibly have been directed at everyone disagreeing with her?
Sure, I've got nothing better to do. What the hell.
While we wait: What were the screen names of these mobys?
Yeah, CEO, I thought of that unfortunate interpretation right after I posted it. Not what I meant, clearly.
And, just for the record, yesterday Meade didn't show up and it was nice. People got along, no one said anything mean to anyone else, it was almost like a family type community.
Today, Meade arrives, slings poo, and suddenly there are ugly things being said (yes, I said something ugly, but I usually do it seems).
Just wanted to make the point, in case anyone like Lem wanted to take notice.
"Which were racists, Fernando? Let's name names."
I don't think any of those people you mention are racists, including Cedarford. Especially including Cedarford.

So she herself said that she addresses this to ALL men who opposed her on this issue.

Jesus Christ Fernando. Talk about meager little money. If you really needed $51 that bad, I would have floated it to you.
Sorry Pasta. I have covered it up with my mantle of self-righteousness.

I realize that was CEO-MMP a some others. But I didn't know you yourself indentified with that group, Pasta. I admit though, I did not read every one of those comments in those threads. I found them boring."
Hey Meade? Just to clarify, I had stopped reading and posting over there 2-3 weeks before the big blow up. I did post once I think in one of your silly Amazon threads about "why would I want to support someone who'd insult me" (or however I phrased it) but that's about it.
So I never got into the whole alpha beta delta theta pi theta pi theta pi gamma crap.
I had (and have I guess) some issues with your wife but that whole thing isn't part of it particularly.
And, oddly enough, until the other day with Palladian, I never had anything with you, I always found you to be smart and sharp (not always the same) and funny, as well as basically fair.
What you're doing now is just icky though.
Although I guess I can be heartened by being included with Troop, since he's now confirmed he was the Baron.
Troop, can I come to your house and play? Meade says we're the same kind of...whatever he called us.
"So that's not just reacting to the ones that are beta males, is it? That's reacting to ALL of them.
And then going on to call them all beta males, of meager money, less than true men.
Right?
Or is there a fucking penumbra here? Who left the fucking penumbra laying around where it could alter the plain meaning of words? Trooper, is this your penumbra?"
And, Pasta, what time is it over there in western Ohio? Are you already getting in your cups? You went from smart sober to blurry dull in about 17 minutes.
Call me when you're sober again.

How much did he buy off Lem for? Wasn't it $51?
So it wasn't a big deal, he could toss it willy nilly, but it was a big enough deal to destroy a guy over.
Fucking brilliant.
4:56, Fernando, and a great day for a bike ride.
No, I haven't started drinking yet. This is me when I'm lucid.
And this is you getting spanked. There are about 3 or 4 points here from me, from madawaskan, from others, that you've just let whiz by without even taking a crack at them.

Thanks Meade!
You know, Fernando, everyone does assholish things, and it doesn't necessarily make them a permanent asshole.
The key is contrition over one's assholery, I think.
But I'm not an expert on these things. This is where we need a philosopher like rhhardin.
Fucker's probably out using his scythe again. It's been dry here for a few days and he probably couldn't resist.

See? This is exactly how lynch mob mentality grows. Someone throws out a fact. The fact is in error. But it doesn't make any difference to the lynch mob. $5 or $5000 or $5000000 - all they care about is that there is gonna be a hanging.

A truly great sentence, Pasta.

This one went unnoticed in the annals of Althouse. Or did you speak up?
Crack, that was brilliant. I laughed. Had I been drinking I'd have to buy a new laptop.

Hey! it wasn't $51 dollars. We were wrong.
Seriously, Fernando, how much?
It does matter. $5,000 is a shitload of money and I'd be right-and-thoroughly pissed if someone owed it to me. That's a big chunk of time spent earning it.
Meade
Your exits they are so fleeting and lacking in style.
You need more twirl.
You've been asked to clarify.
He can't clarify - don't you understand that?
He's filled with fear that, if all the facts are known, he and Ann will be found to be everything we know they are.
It must be rough,...
Hey Larry, isn't your mommy going to be home soon?
Better shut down her computer and straighten up your room. She is going to be so pissed!
"You've been asked to clarify. Also you never addressed it when that was a conclusion on another thread."
Oh well then! I've been ASKED to clarify. To dipshits on the internet. Let me just get my clarifying shoes on and I'll be right with you. Now that I understand that you are entitled to clarification of conclusions from other threads whenever you ask.
Meade, like liberals hollering "racist" constantly, that whole 'beta male' thing you're doing has lost whatever it ever had.
Crack at 5:10 -- that's some funny shit right there.
For a grifter every dime counts. They are obsessed with money. Getting it. Begging for it. Stealing it.
They will have a lot of high minded explanations. Tell you that you have to pay for something that is free. Because they never know when the mark will wise up and they have to move on.
So even $51 is big bucks to a carney.
"This one went unnoticed in the annals of Althouse. Or did you speak up?"
I don't remember, chicklit. Was I the only one who didn't? And are you noticing this lynching now? Will you speak up?
"It does matter. $5,000 is a shitload of money and I'd be right-and-thoroughly pissed if someone owed it to me. That's a big chunk of time spent earning it."
Ann makes over $160K, last I checked, and that was from a 2-3 year old report. $5,000 means a lot less to her than some people.
And I'm pretty sure none of Palladian's prints go for that.
Unless they commissioned a life size mural of the two of them nekkid together, entwined like vines.
But to some people no number would be enough to humiliate a man and make him grovel. Instead they will step up to help as many did in this situation.
You can always tell what someone is about by how they treat the waiter.
Hey! it wasn't $51 dollars. We were wrong.
I know - Aridog already said it was three figures a few days ago when Meade started this shit.
But, unlike youse guys, I live by the Christopher Hitchens Rule - a paraphrase:
"What can be asserted without evidence can be dissed without evidence."
Don't play their game of being rational - the insane attack win every time.
No, Fernando, we're not entitled to a thorough explanation.
But it would be a good first step toward redemption, if there are any of us here who you still respect, with whom you'd like to continue to interact in a constructive way.
I don't want to get too melodramatic, but just about everyone here thought it was...bad form, let's say. I'd say there's an inverse relationship between the amount of money involved, and the asshole quotient of your behavior. Not linear, but inverse.
I've been mentioning it for years on Althouse since it happened in 2008. You can look through the archives yourself. The fact is, I suspect that Althouse gave the perps a pass because they were gay. She never denied it.
I don't do insane nearly as well as I used to.
It's a symbol for her HUGE blind spot, Meade.

Meade--
Take a couple of deep breaths.
Obviously something is bugging you terribly and you've made most of the comments on those threads.
Calm down and try to answer.
What did Palladian do to you?
"Sorry about the error. How much was it?"
Ask Palladian. That isn't his real name.
Now, what are your real names, lynch mobbers?
Hey CEO-MMP you can come and play in my treehouse anytime. Just email me at trooperyork@hotmail.com
and I will send you an invitation.
We have very little fighting but lots of food and women with big tits.
You know the important things in life.
CEO, she might gross that much, but after taxes, with that income, $5,000 is still a shitload of money.
How much was it, Fernando? Less than $5,000? Should we start guessing?
And CEO -- I wouldn't be surprised if an original, not a print, sold for that much. Art is pricey stuff.
(I thought here about comparing Palladian to Thomas Kinkade, just to see if I could lure him out to pummel me, but thought better of it).
Oh and rest assured I will not publish your personal business on the internet unlike some other people we could name.
I have spoken to Palladian and just wants this to go away. Meade has his money and should drop it.
Maybe we can too for Palladian's sake and move on. It is just too painful for him and he doesn't need to have his nose rubbed in it every day. If you just ignore the incitements from Leisure Suit Larry than it should die down. Thanks.
Let me clarify:
Ann and Meade are playing you. You are trying to be fair - they're not. You want clarity - they don't. You expect maturity - what do you get in return?
" Let me just get my clarifying shoes on and I'll be right with you. Now that I understand that you are entitled to clarification."
I think a sustained chorus of "FUCK YOU ALTHOUSE!" (Here, in the next post up, maybe even change the name of the blog until other bloggers notice) will do the trick.
As long as you let them operate in a vacuum, no one will hear.
And Ann and Meade truly won't care,...
Meade, do you feel remorse for the way that you behaved with regard to Palladian?

Troop, you're quite right re Palladian and letting it drop.
Besides, there are other things we can insult Meade about.
Nah, I don't care about insulting Meade particularly. It's like catching hatchery trout in a newly stocked pond.

I agree with Trooper. This is hurting Palladian (who actually has feelings) far more than it is Meade.

It was the punishment they decided to meted out to him because he dared to try and bridge the gap.

Fact corrections due here....
The $51 is what Larry/Fernando (allegedly) sent Lem when this blog started up...he blather on and on about it in fact....it is not what he'd paid Palladian, and what Palladian has paid him back now. That was more, but still very low 3 figures. Still Meade definitely fits TOP's...
Lame little men, whining about their meager money...
Palladian never hurt a soul here or there, and adds far more than he ever took away...even without a tip jar tab or over-hyped Amazon portal. Beyond that, I like Palladian even when I disagree, so there's that...anyone doesn't like you know what you can do about it.
Lame meager little men indeed. She had the working model right in front of her to write about.
PS: I am amused by the exchange over who owes what blog what money...donations are made no strings attached, or they are not donations, but fees for services.

Actually, it's Louis Troy Dixon, but few call me Louis. I'm named after Louis Armstrong. All the males in my line have Troy as a middle name, and are called by that or a nickname (which Meade will never know). Because of the Dixon, many times it's Dix (pronounced Dick) so, basically, there's a lot of wordplay in my family,...

Ya--unfortunately I don't think Meade wants to let Palladian have this space.
For what it's worth... this is all reminding me of when Obama was running for President and said that people who opposed him were going to do so because he didn't look like the men on the money. Being upset about this pre-emptive charge of racism towards those who had not yet done so but *would* was attacked in the same dumb way...
You had no RIGHT being angry for being called a racist by Obama because if you weren't a racist then he wasn't talking to you.
Same bull-shit.
I found it annoying, though I didn't take it personally, but I do recall Althouse getting on the cases of some of us women who agreed that men should not be victimized and that there was inherent unfairness in the system that allowed women that sort of power and then portrayed men as supposed to suck it up or have their masculinity attacked.
How juvenile is it? Right about up there with "wow, you've got a little dick."
Usually Althouse would point out when feminists or women or whoever were trying to claim they were extra special on account of they were female and suddenly the men who complain are uber beta and must be insulted?
And no one was supposed to think she was talking to them unless convicted of it by their guilty hearts?
Yeah... the only reason I complained about Obama was because he didn't look like the guy on the money because no way I'd have seen that as wrongly accusing me of being a racist unless that's what I really was.
"Ooooo... you have a tiny dick."
Now, I agree fully with Trooper York and those what have agreed with him on this topic...we should all drop it, for Palladian's sake.
Let Meade wander in whenever he wishes and blather about whatever he's on about, or hyping that day or moment. Ignore him, even if he's topical, don't respond, he is not worth it...and he will always have an ulterior motive. A grifter as Trooper has said. The con is always on.
If you don't he'll eventually call you high on drugs or drunk or both, even if you don't drink or do drugs. It's a Freudian thing.

There has to be a decision made.
A place where people are not made to continually bow down and worship Althouse.
A place that gains some altitude.
I doubt that happens at a place where Meade is still honored by others who ask that he be treated differently.
I was hoping to let Meade talk about it and get it out of his system.
What seems to be happening is--Althouse said shut up.
Then their sycophants said shut up.
The thing doesn't get cured until all of the steam gets let out.
In my opinion.
It's too bad but the people who aren't going to submit to being run through the outsourced Rocky Mountain Oyster factory--probably need to get a Plan B.
Allowing Cedarford to fester or go unchallenged was a mistake.
Tolerating what Meade does here and giving him special privileges to boot--is going to be a mistake.
You are probably losing many people--at the cost of asking them to tolerating that.
As I quoted Lewis Carroll's Red Queen, "first the sentence, and then the evidence!"
Very well, then. We can mark evidence going forward, as it accrues, and have a "sentence" at a later date. I'm betting the answer will be the same.
