Dr. Seuss's first book was porn

The Seven Lady Godivas
Dr. Seuss's Little-Known Adult Book of Nudes

The book flopped. Ten thousand printed, twenty-five hundred sold. :-(

All those unsold books would have been destroyed.

An astute book investor will recognize what this means. It is the same thing as an artist's limited edition prints. You can buy this book for $20.00 on abebooks if you are fast, and have a limited edition of Dr. Seuss, a whole set! First and only edition. Of nekid ladies. Terribly drawn, and I mean terribly.

I attempted to draw the sexiest babes I could, but they came out looking absurd.
When Geisel left Vanguard for Random, apparently the name of two publishing companies, he had one condition, his new publisher must allow Geisel to do an adult book first and he gave them The Seven Lady Godivas: The True Facts Concerning History's Barest Family

A retelling of the Godiva story, to straighten out the facts.

Following the father's death the sisters pledge to not wed until each of them has "brought to the light of the world some new and worthy Horse Truth, of benefit to man."

And "Peeping" is a family name.

It is not a first edition, but a reprint from 1986. So it is probably just worth $20. The original is from 1938. I checked and Powells has no copies.

The ginger is pretty hot, and I like her playful demeanor.

That's how people look in Seuss' world.

Still, they're better than Picasso's with three eyes and stuff.
