And while I never found that to be true, changeability in the weather is a fact of life. I started shoveling snow last Wednesday, continued shoveling on Thursday and Friday, and today I left my house for the first time since last Tuesday. I went for a walk. It was 65 degrees outside. What the hey?

What I hate about warm days in January lulling you into thinking Spring is here, then you get hit with another winter monstrosity.
That is almost always the case, but I do enjoy the break from winter. It was beautiful out there today.
Tons of places like that.
They say it in OH, but, if you live near, Philadelphia - one of the worst palces to forecast in the country.
We don't say it, no need to show off.
I've gotta steal from the comments section on the Aaron Copeland Rodeo (pronounced rodayo, don't ask me why) part of that video:
"Aaron Copeland? Oh, the beef what's for dinner dude."
It'll be interesting if Dad Bones chimes in on differences between Iowa and Nebraska.
Where I live a day can start blue sky or end blue sky but rare indeed is an all day fair day. Clouds always marching in, staying too long, reluctantly leaving. Damn those Great Lakes.
I didn't know you were a Cornhusker. Where?
Big snow on the way, but the really heavy stuff seems to be tracking south, southeast of me. Winds will be from the northeast 20 to 30 miles an hour, so drifting will be a problem. 30ยบ now.
Scotts Bluff. Then I moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, then back to the east coast. It took me a couple more years to make it out west, then I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado, then off to the Bay Area.
Hang in there, AllenS - I hope your heating system is able to keep up.
From the St Paul MN newspaper --
The National Weather Service is estimating 4 to 9 inches in the metro area on Monday, with snow beginning after 4 a.m. and coming down in earnest after 8 a.m. and throughout the day.
Well, it's 8:20 AM, and NOT ONE FLAKE HAS FALLEN
You must be outside of Earnest.
I am, how did you know?
Sixty, We are both semi nomadic. Living in different places gives one perspective.
Allen, They pushed back the timing. It's starting to pick up here in Dakota County. But there's a stark cut off line. North Minneapolis hardly anything, south 6 to 10 inches. We'll see.
What years were you in Fort Sprawlin's, Sixty? I was there for a time beginning in 1984. I met and knew people who had been there years before. Also, I believe Meade spent some time there. Weird coincidence.
I liked the movie Nebraska (2013). I think it ended up being shot near Scott's Bluff.
Everyone ends up getting shot near Scott's Bluff. That's just how things go.
I was in Fort Collins in 1972. I worked at a concrete construction company building houses and a big church. It is a beautiful place but eventually the cold got to me and I moved on. Next stop, Los Gatos, where I built retaining walls using redwood heartwood, technically known merchantable heart, AKA "merch" on the street. The things one learns along the way.
When I moved away from CA in 1984 I stopped by FC on my way east. It had changed so much during those 12 years it was barely recognizable.
Snowing pretty good right now.
Well get inside, now!
But seriously, I hope your weather doesn't get too bad - ours is warm now, but we will lose close to 40 degrees tomorrow, which, this time of year means severe thunderstorms.
If it's not one thing it's another.
I don't mind the snow, it's that extreme cold weather that I don't care for. Thursday high of 34, Friday 41. No problem.
It be snowin' and blowin' right now. Bigly.
Bela Fleck's version of Hoedown. I couldn't find a video from the concert.
As it turns out I'm presently at my alternate residence in Midtown Omaha where I have no internet service so I go to the Med Cntr cafe, get a cheap cup of coffee and use their rapid fire Wifi. Things worked out for me. This latest storm only left an inch or two in Omaha but in my Iowa home I hear it's many more inches. This is good because my neighbor will be doing the scooping and blowing, but when I get back he's hightailing it for California for a month and it will be payback time for me.
The only difference between Iowa and Nebraska I can see depends on how far north or south you are in either state. Northern Iowa is usually about ten degrees colder than Omaha.
