Meanwhile, back in the camp...

I had a little bird, it's name was Enza
I opened up the window and in flew Enza.

So I got sick on Sunday, and given how bad the flu has been I went to Urgent Care yesterday. They now have a swab test that can quickly determine whether or not you have the flu. Who knew? Anyway, for as sick as I was, it was not the flu.

I just cooked and ate my first meal since Sunday so I am well on the way to getting better.

How about that super blue blood moon tomorrow? Anyone else psyched about seeing that? Speaking of Blue Bloods, I watched Quigley Down Under, mainly because I can't actually work. Laura San G - what a talent!

Man, feel better. I had something like that towards the end of last year and it hung on for a long time but didn't quite rise to influenza level. Apparently, our betters in government health services did not get the vaccine quite right this year. Oh well.

I skipped the flu shot this year, or is it supposed to be an anti-flu shot, and when I got sick on Sunday I instantly regretted that decision. Being a hermit is my front line of defense again such thing, but last week I had to venture out to the big city and that is probably where I picked up the bug. Good news is it will soon be gone.

What you want is the Prevnar. That seems to do more good.

At least for me.

I have been drinking a lot of water - but even that was impossible for the first 24 hours. Now, no problem. Nyquil counts as a liquid, right?

Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug
Make you want to holler hi-de-ho
Burns your tummy, don'tcha know
Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug.

God bless you, Roger Miller, wherever you are.

Sixty. you're correct about being a hermit prevents contagious disease. I've written about the good book, Stranger in the Woods. A guy who just spontaneously became a hermit for 27 years in the northern woods of Maine. He never got sick that entire time.

Last year in January I went out to the country under the super moon on three nights. Man was it bright, no wind and perfectly quiet except for my boots violating the peace of the night. All the usual nocturnal loudmouths, the owls, coyotes, and farm dogs, weren't saying a thing. It felt like it was a bit more than a full moon and I was the only one out there who didn't know what was going on.

The clouds aren't going to let me see this year's show. Too bad for me but my noisy feet probably won't be missed. - Glad you're recovering, SG, and that you dodged the flu.

Moon last night was so BRIGHT. Can someone splain to this very unscientific mind what the Blue Moon phenomenon is all about?

The Dude said...

The brightness is what is known as the super moon - that is, the moon is closer to the earth than usual.

Blue moon refers to having two full moons in the same month. With a lunar cycle of 28 days and months ranging from 28 to 31 days that happens fairly often.

Out in the country the increased brightness of a super moon really is noticeable. We get super moons ever 14 months or so, and according to WikiNeverWrong "The technical name is the perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system."

There you have it. The blood moon refers to the lunar eclipse that occurred last night.

Guess I slept through that.

Mooning away my days in the land of the pines or something.
