I remember U2. Gary Powers was shot down over Russia while flying his. Later died in a helicopter crash in SoCal. Also, I used to watch U2s take off at Moffett Naval Air Station - now that was a sight to behold. They would pitch up at a ridiculous angle and fly out of sight still heading what looked like nearly straight up. Impressive aircraft.
