"(CNN)U.S. military cargo planes gave 50 tons of ammunition to rebel groups overnight in northern Syria, using an air drop of 112 pallets as the first step in the Obama Administration's urgent effort to find new ways to support those groups.
Details of the air mission over Syria were confirmed by a U.S. official not authorized to speak publicly because the details have not yet been formally announced.
C-17s, accompanied by fighter escort aircraft, dropped small arms ammunition and other items like hand grenades in Hasakah province in northern Syria to a coalition of rebels groups vetted by the US, known as the Syrian Arab Coalition."

The situation:
US, NATO, Israel, supporting the anti-Assad force, Free Syrian Army, and the groups they desert to with arms we've supplied them, such as al-Qaeda and various al-Qaeda-like factions
Russia, Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, China supporting pro-Assad Syrian Arab Army
ISIS, trying to establish own state in eastern Syria/western Iraq, and whatever else they can manage.
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Gulf states covertly supplying ISIS

Right up there with Captain Edward Smith telling the helmsman, "Hey, pull over, we're low on ice".
This will not work out well.
A another proxy war against China and Russia?
I wonder how many Americans are aware that Assad is the ONLY defender of Syrian Christians against the tender mercies of Hussein's "moderate rebels?"
You think Barry cares?
Ed, iceberg...lol
Ricpic, there are Jews, Shia, Alawites, and actual moderate Sunni (at least there were) in Syria, too.
Chick, the whole wrecking of the Middle East has had the effect of even messing with Europe. Refugee pressure in Europe creating more jihadi pressure on Russia. It's almost as if our government planned it. Nah.
It's amazing, Urkel would seek to disarm his own populace but arm and give the enemy ammo to fight for their own lives. Fucking asshole.
