We are getting ready to leave Florida to be at our sister's side.
She is unconscious and the doctors give her a grim prognosis.
I don't know the details.
My parents, who happened to be here from Georgia, insist on going to Georgia first and then leaving for NJ. I didn't think that was a good idea, but, my stepmom wont budge. She says she doesn't have enough/right clothes.
So we expect to arrive in NJ later tomorrow.

She didn't make it.
She past away last night. My brother and sister where saying she was in the hospital so as not to tell my step mom here, so far away.
Now that my step mom is on her way to GA, they told me what really happened.
It really sucks to lose a loved one so young.
My sister, her family and I are leaving straight to NJ, sometime this afternoon.

I remember helping her learn to walk by means of a broom handle. She held one end and I the other so she would take a few steps.

Losing a close family member is just about the hardest thing there is in life. Know that all of the Lemmings here have your back and will help in any way we can.

Last night I saw Lucy on demand movie with Morgan Freeman and Johansen. It has all that existential stuff I like read and hear about. It's short only an hour and a half but it was good.

It always hurts as the good really do die young.
If she was already ill, you always hope for the best and, when it comes, it's hard to let go (The Blonde and I have this argument all the time; I'm Catholic and don't believe in plug-pulling (also remember how slippery that slope can be); she's a nurse and had to make the DNR decision for several relatives because she knew the clinical facts).
Sometimes all you can do is just be glad she didn't suffer.
PS The Blonde saw Lucy and liked it, too.

I buried my 58 year old sister a few years back. She had a bad leukemia. Got the best medical care @ MD Anderson in Houston. We all have a time to go. It's hardly ever "fair."

I had four sisters and one brother. I'm the oldest, she was fourth eldest overall, following my younger brother.

Oh, Lem. I'm so sorry to hear of death entering your life this way today through the loss and death of your sister. I appreciated reading your memory of helping her learn to walk by means of holding the other end of a broom handle. It touched my heart, as it testifies to connection, something present between the two of you, as brother and sister, along with hints of encouragement, acceptance, trust, and maybe even some levity. Whatever else life held as you grew up, that connection was real and the loss of it hurts.
Heartbreak is always connected to love and belonging.
I'll be keeping you in heart and mind as you move through these next days.

Oh wow, Lem. First your health issues and now this... Your family has been hammered recently. I am so sorry for your loss. May you be aware of God's love and presence in your life.
