"'Nobody kill anybody'"

"Murder-free weekend urged in Baltimore" via Reddit.

Organizers aim to stop the shooting from Friday, Aug. 4, through Sunday, Aug. 6, with a unified and blunt message: “Nobody kill anybody.”

Their message has been printed on T-shirts and flyers. They designed a website and held community meetings. More than 1,600 people visited their Facebook page. The grass-roots campaign has swelled since it began in May.

“I’ve seen the momentum build over the past several weeks,” said T.J. Smith, spokesman for Baltimore police. “We are all in this together, and we’re 1,000 percent supportive of the efforts.”

Oh, yeah, this'll work just dandy.

“I’ve seen the momentum build over the past several weeks"

I think Ernst Rohm said something similar on the night of 6/29/34.

They're gunning for a ceasefire and aiming for miscreants with poor comprehension of percentages. I'm 2,000 % certain.

I read the article, and noticed one thing missing. How many were shot, but did not die? If nobody was even shot, you'd think that they would have brought up that fact.

Looks like an opportunity for some out of town thugs if the locals aren't going to shoot back.

Good point AllenS. Many shootings are not really intended to kill, just to scare a rival away. But the shooters don't care if the targets die either. St Louis is right up there and jockeying for position with Chicago and Baltimore. We hear gunfire frequently at home, and occasionally on our street. The crime will eventually drive us out- but for now we can sit tight. But I am not going to be 65 years old and diving for the floor once a month. Ha!

I give full support for the cease-fire. Seems like a good experiment and why not try it and see how it goes? The cause of the shootings and rampages is drugs mostly, but if you want to know the core reason it is because of a lack of love. No body loved Mike Brown- his folks threw him out, grandma barely tolerated him, no one ever loved him or expected him to be anything more than what he was- a thug. Same could be said for Trayvon Martin, and for a thousand others. No body gives a sh*t about them.

But all these community initiatives eventually get taken over by community organizers who always have a fund raising agenda, or political ambitions, or just like being bossy, or leading a vigil, or whatever. But I like the personal touch of just actually talking to people and asking them to put down the guns. Lets see what happens.

It started in May and it's scheduled for the first week of August?

I think the first week in August was chosen because historically it is a peak season for shootings. No one is on the street in January- too durn cold.

Yeah. I was thinking there must some sort of weird science to organizing this sort of thing. Too much lead time and people lose interest. Not enough and too few people gain interest at all.

This is a knee jerk over reaction. We all know that some people just need killin'.
