"Chicago Transgender Student Files Complaint for Access to Girls' Locker Room"

"Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) has informed District 211, Illinois’ largest school district, that it is in violation of federal law by refusing to allow a male student who identifies as female to use the girl’s locker room."
The student, whose name has been kept private, first filed a complaint with support from the ACLU of Illinois in early 2014. Following precedent in two similar cases in California, District 211 was informed that depriving the student of equal access to facilities violates Title IX’s sex nondiscrimination protections, calling such treatment “inadequate and discriminatory.”...
A statement issued by the district says that it supports transgender students, but that locker room access presents a unique set of challenges...
If the district cannot reach a compromise with federal officials, it risks losing some of the $6 million it receives in federal funding.
What a crying shame.

The solution is simple: do without federal funding. Ah, but then we won't be able to afford blah blah blah. Yes, then you'll be poor. And free.

How far do we have to go to normalize deviant behavior?

Any government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take everything away. Even a girl's right to not have guys watching her shower at school. Thanks for protecting the women there lefties.

The first thing the conquering army does is look for where they keep the women. #waronwomen

I can hear a suddenly 16 year old Troop at Rydell High, "Hey, coach, I'm transgender, too".

I went to an all boys Catholic School Ed. So that wouldn't work.

We went to the strip club like normal guys do when they want to see girls naked.

I wonder who's suing, the "boy" or the parents of the "boy"? What should happen is a countersuit by one or more of the real girls against the district claiming sexual harassment by the supposed "girl." Its mere presence in the locker room should suffice (that event probably hasn't happened yet). The existing laws are probably gender neutral and probably enforceable. That way, the whole thing could be adjudicated from both points of view and nonsense ended before it starts. And definitely stigmatize the "girl" to get them to STFU.

Has there been a sudden increase in transgendered people? Is it something like autism or peanut allergies that's suddenly come upon us due to global warming or genetically modified food? Where did all these transgendered people come from?.......I do remember some boys in high school with effeminate mannerisms. They were given a hard time. I would be in favor of an accommodation that makes their life easier. I'm not sure if this is the solution to their problems, however.

William I think my aunt has the answer. It's the 'in' thing. So much has been made of it some kids imagine they are transgender, some do it for attention, some do it for freedom of expression or exploration of identity. It will pass when people stop making a big deal over it.

Back in the old days, there was a TV show called "Julia" about a black nurse (this was in '68 when they were new, but still Negroes).

In her job interview, the doctor asks, "Have you always been a Negro, or are you just trying to be fashionable?".
