After Fred became a Zombie he infected everyone. Sort of the same way Miss Kitty gave everyone Aids on Gunsmoke. He bit Wilma and Betty and Barney and even Dino. They would wander through cartoon town killing and eating the brains of all the cartoon characters. They chowed down on Top Cat and Magilla Gorilla. Munched on Captain Crunch. They even parboiled Penelope Pitt Stop.
It was a bloodbath.
The only ones who were safe were the characters on Doonesbury. Since they were liberals they didn't have any brains to eat.

Wow, dead so long, munching on Dino's tail and Wilma's arm right through the Christian era.
