"Chris Mintz, the hero that charged the UCC shooter..."

"...to help save others is doing fine after having surgery to remove 7 bullets."

"Oregon shooting hero tells gunman, 'It's my son's birthday today'"

The most effective tactic would be to swarm the shooter. Easier said than done, but no one on a plane now will sit by while it's being hijacked.......The police said everyone should know this guy's name, and the shooter should remain obscure. They got that right--the more so as the shooter explicitly stated that he did it for the notoriety. This man is even more deserving of a trip to the Rose Garden than the parents of a Beau Bergdahl--the President's favorite vet.

If only this brave man could have been armed. President Obama is right: we need reforms in gun laws!

I just watched it on ABC with Snuffaluffagus, and the hero got about 20% of the time that was spent talking about the shooter in back to back segments. The hero's story is a hundred times more interesting than the shooter's. The shooter's story has already been covered every minute since it happened, so nothing is news.

Not only is the media encouraging this shit, but they aren't even competent at doing media. I want the hero's story. Isn't that always the centerpiece of any drama, you twits.

Any way to find out his service record? That he did a tour in A-stan is about it.

He sounds like a very gutsy guy.

PS The creep who did the shooting "was discharged for failing to meet the minimum administrative standards" out of basic training. Any idea what that is?

Like ban gun-free zones?

I would be for a law requiring anyone who ever voted Democrat in a national election to be disallowed guns.

No I'm not. That would be unconstitutional.

So make it excruciatingly difficult but possible. It's what they would do.

Eliminate security detail for Democrats.

That would be unconstitutional too.

And whenever these outlying events occur that they jump on to express their political frustration, and use the same phrases as before, "sensible gun legislation" "sensible" measures" "Republican refusal" "NRA" etc. ad nauseam then force them by law to read the obituaries of the Chicago Tribune.

To be honest I have no idea what they say. I expect a lot of gang-related crimes mostly.

Well, let's just see, [chicago tribune obituaries] Holy smokes. Seventy-five people are listed.

Scanning.
Goodness gracious, people are old.
Everyone is old.
REALLY old.
Everyone is living to a ripe old age.
Good and stinking ripe.
Quite overly ripe
These people should have died decades ago
The list goes on and on and on
I'm getting pissed off all these people are living so f'n long
This does not match my experience once single bit.
Everyone I know bit it earlier than this.
* okay, there's one, 29, sudden illness.
* another, 37, that's rank "elder" in some cultures.
* 32, no cause given.
98, 99, 100 clumped together, come on. Die already.
It's like those turtles. Do they even know they're 400 years old?
* Marine, no date or age, sons but no grandchildren.
* memorial to young male "taken suddenly" now with his dad in heaven.
It's nice to see everyone is "beloved."
Haven't seen a single one that says, "unloved."
So full of love this world that everyone leaves reluctantly.
*Two parents died together.

I'm glad they don't always say their ages. That's rude.

the deacon's wife
peacefully -- skip
* Max is laying in state but nothing else about him. You either know Max or you don't.
* Mark died suddenly and with no information.
While, unrelated, Nella listed right after lived to be 105 years old, sparing Mark the trouble of supporting her creaky old ass another year but Mark was already dead.
* husband and father (of 14 year old)
"peacefully" -- skip
[99, 89, 89, 88, 93... ]
* ...29 fiancée, and not just regular fiancée, beloved fiancée.
35 algebra, chemistry teacher, bowling coach. Not just regular bowler...

The thing says "all notices today" but it goes forever. Like this. Almost everybody is living to very old age, all ages represented, most people in Chicago live past grandparent stage and surprisingly many to great grandparent stage.

I expected there to be tons of gang-related deaths. Maybe they have their own section, maybe they're treated differently, maybe they don't usually post notices for that, but I don't thinks so.

Actually, Chicago sounds like a fine place to live if your aim is live very long.

I was wrong.

There blows my whole argument.

Is Obama going to call Mintz and thank him for his service and heroism? Most likely no. How long did it take Urkel to even acknowledge the 3 Americans who saved people on the french train?

Make that a law disenfranchising anybody who voted Democrat and I'll be there.

Why can't a nut job ever show up at "The view" or any or the vapid alphabet channel morning shows?

I know that's mean - cruel - horrible. But why not? Why a school all the time? We need some balance.
