If so, what a difference 6 months makes, in blog time and life. It seems much longer ago. No hippopotami evident, but roots quietly growing under the surface. Never stop believing, cuz' Baby, you can never hold back Spring
You can never hold back spring You can be sure that I will never Stop believing The blushing rose will climb Spring ahead or fall behind Winter dreams the same dream Every time
You can never hold back spring Even though you've lost your way The world keeps dreaming of spring
So close your eyes Open you heart To one who's dreaming of you You can never hold back spring Baby
Remember everything that spring Can bring You can never hold back spring
(I love the music, the words, the hope expressed and the voice. The picture of him in the tree makes me laugh!)
I think the two-week hiatus between the Conference championships and the Superbowl is a big, momentum-crushing, enthusiasm-draining buzz-kill. Is anyone going to be as excited about the Superbowl, when it finally rolls around, as they were about Denver-New England, or Seattle-San Francisco?
Mumpsimus, they tried doing the Super Bowl a week after the conference championships once or twice in the last 20 years. It didn't work out very well. There's such a circus atmosphere around the SB these days that if the teams attempt doing all the media crap (and they HAVE to do the media crap, let's be honest) AND practice plus installing a game plan, it just doesn't work out. It does kill momentum a little bit for the teams, but one week just wasn't enough time.
Haz, I just saw an article that the propane shortage is likely to get worse up there. You and AllenS better wrap your nuts up nice and snug, retract them if possible.

I'd worry more about Joule expansion (pronounced "jewel expansion"). Propane liquifies at around -44F; that means no more "gas" heating. Joule expansion is that rapid cooling which occurs wherever a gas leaves an orifice which hits awfully close to home.
Did Allen ever solve his slushy exhaust pipe problem?

Bleak
Bleaker than bleak
Bluer than Blue
Sadder than Sad
I really should be glad.
The sun will bring a return of color soon enough. First come the red buds bursting with green. But February blocks the way.
There usually aren't so many trees in an Ingmar Bergman flick.
Looks okay to me. Makes me want to get my saw out.
Is this the same park?

Since this is an open thread:

I volunteered to work Superbowl Sunday. Sort of like non-Christians do on Christmas.
It's not a real Super Bowl if the Giants, Cowboys, Patriots, Steelers, 49er's or dare I say it Packers are not in it.
These two teams don't count.
You might as well have the Eagles or the lame ass Jets playing.
I will be watching re-runs of the Soprano's and "The Gunfight at OK Corral."
The game won't be played Sunday, mark my words. Monday. Twenty-four hour weather delay.
And the team with the religious quarterback will win.
Are they making it two weeks to shoehorn the X Games in, or do they last longer?
Lem, be glad.

Jeebers, it's cold. Schools hereabouts have announced they are closed Monday and Tuesday. Blizzard outside now, winds 35-50 mph. Wind chills to -50F.
I've never seen winter weather like this.
