Simple Man

It's become my theme song these days.

Troop, you should blog what it's like to live through this in NYC. I know you're already doing this at TY, but give the Lem-only-readers a taste of it.

Fuck, here in SoCal, we've been spared or so it seems. Sorta reminds me of how we here are responsible for AGW because we drive everywhere single occupancy vehicle, but we've seen nothing but much needed rain to refill reservoirs as a consequence. We're dogs.

chick, It's been a cold, rainy month here in MN. We should have stayed longer.

Happy birthday late, chick. I hope you had a great day.

Love this song. My wish list includes making a slideshow for my son with pics of him. Also want to make one for my mom with pics of us in all the dresses she made for us over the years, with Parton's Coat of Many Colors. And one for my daughter with Tupelo Honey.

This one wasn't part of my history. Reading the lyrics, however, reveals some good words to live by.

On Sunday I listened to the song "Sam Stone" for the first time, after another commenter who used to frequent Levity posted elsewhere on John Prine's condition in intensive care. Prine's description of the hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes will stay with me along with the story told, which in part parallels that of someone I know who's so far managed to stay present with the help of medication and a caring other at the VA.

For sing-along-ability, Joe Diffie's "John Deere Green", is one I know by heart. Joe stepped off the train on Sunday after announcing a postive test on Fri. Today a procession of trucks and green tractors took place in Nashville, as a tribute to him, which seemed fitting in lieu of a funeral. https://fox17.com/news/local/parade-of-john-deere-green-pickup-trucks-pays-tribute-to-joe-diffie-in-nashville

And speaking of hearts and heavy equipment, to an outsider it looks like the chaos in NY is increasing with the NYPost now reporting angst over forklift use at a Brooklyn hospital.

Whatever the case, may you continue to take care of yourself and family as best you can, Trooper York, even if some of it seems unwarranted or over the top to do. There's more going on at all levels than can be taken in and processed.

I went to bring in the accumulated boxes and get the mail today wearing disposable gloves and still managed to touch things anyway. Also received news that MrM's boss in ATL, whom he was with on the 14th (just after the boss's return from a trip to India) is now reporting that he's home with a fever. No word yet on a test. We hope he gets through whatever he has, in addition to hoping there enough of a buffer of time and distance between us.

ND, cold and rainy in MI too, as if spring has been waiting in limbo like the rest of us. On Sunday I noticed the green tips of the daffodil leaves had managed to poke up through the ground into quiet gloom.

At the president's outdoor press conference in DC yesterday, what looked like blossom petals were blowing in the wind along with his hair.

"Tuesday's Gone" trended after 9/11. This one seems appropriate for the current moment.
