Ed makes a very good point!

The estimable edutcher makes a great point in one of his very astute comment:

"Something I ought to put in here just so people have a point of reference.

Did a little reading on Anthony Fauci, who Fake News loves because he occasionally contradicts Trump.

He's 80 years old and has spent his entire professional life working for the Feds. Yeah, from the day he got out of medical school. Better than 50 years. Kind of the Obiden-Bama of government medicine.

His big rep in epidemiology comes from work on AIDS. Given how badly that was mishandled, next time you hear the name, might not hurt to get a second opinion."

So we are relying on the same sort of Deep State bureaucratic hacks that brought us the War on Terror in Afghanistan and the war on drugs. The same idiots. The ones who are wrong about everything all the time.

The media is beating the same drum in trying to destroy President Trump. You know no matter what he does they will say he is wrong and killing babies or something. When the whole Democratic party is based on murdering babies. This is just bullshit to the max.

I am telling you they are deliberately trying to tank the economy to destroy Trump's presidency. Think of all of the ways they have tried to destroy him. They think this will work. They don't care if they cause a panic or destroy peoples livelihoods. They want to stop Trump's rallies and any gathering of people exercising their constitutional right to assembly.

I am telling you that this is extremely serious. If they can get away with abrogating our right to assemble they will move on to our right to bear arms. To our right of freedom of religion. Cuomo would be happy to expel religious people who own guns. He has explicitly said so. Now he is using the National Guard against the people. This is how it starts..

(Aside to Lem. I hope an image of a Unicorn farting will not cause you to be reported to the Google Gods. I don't  know how I can post explicit pics of Betty Rubble getting railed by Dino and don't hear a peep.)

I agree that this has a political motivation. The first responders were the very authors were university hand wringers. Today I stopped by Trader Joe's on my way home to get a few groceries. Empty shelves everywhere. I looked at the people in the lines (I've never every seen lines like that). Everyone in line seemed happy and united in one purpose: "we stopped a virus and a president, man." Of course, the TJ managers were delighted with the sales. The clerks on the other hand looked stressed. Looking forward to how this plays out as the spring unfolds very soon.

Retail sales will skyrocket - one thing Americans can do is shop like mofos. Will it be enough to offset temporary layoffs? Too early to tell. Also, November is a long way off.

So I'm just a tag now?

Something to put in the back of your heads.

Weather Channel says the temp outlook for April and May is anywhere from near above to above average for just about the entire country (exception is the P). If so, this thing will burn out sooner than expected.

Also on the temp front, where are all the cases in the Southwest? Nothing in AZ, NM, west TX, or even Southern CA (Kip Wilson is just showing off)? Not too many in the Deep South, either, for all the Lefties who will tell you this will roll on forever.

When you look at the mess in the Democrat party, complete with Jim Clyburn on the public airwaves talking shutting down the primaries, this is desperation time for the Demos and they'll try to milk this for all it's worth.

The issue is any travel restrictions disrupt the markets. True, a lot of day traders would love to make their own little killing on this (the buyers who jump in at the right moment will make out like bandits), but this sort of shorting the market is Dr Evil's stock and trade, so suspicion on this is very reasonable because I feel that way, too.

Both good points. Americans will adapt. We always do and some of these people calling off their season, etc., for the purpose of virtue signaling may well end up knowing what it feels to be Brillo Pad Kaepernick.

No NBA? Plenty more out there.

And, yes, the public memory is short and a lot will happen in 8 months.

There are about 125,000 cases of this in a global population of 8 billion.

That's 0.000015625 or 1 case in every 156,250 people. Chew on that and the fact flus affect the very young and the very old generally, except here it doesn't affect the very young, so the morbidity forecast of .1% may turn out to be ~.05%.

Those old enough to remember swine flu will know how it felt when everybody realized they'd been had.

PS I know we have had our differences, Troop, but I really appreciate your giving my little observations a fair hearing.

Next time Fauci pushes a worst case scenario or that we need millions of tests, keep all that in mind.

Deborah started the edutcher tag. Deborah started a few of the cool tags that I use and also started the whole radio station call letters meme that persists in different forms. Let's hear it for deborah.

Let's hear it for deborah.

She's a mover and a shaker that's for sure. A source of levity, inspiration, affirmation, provocation, sunshine, sweetness and smiles. Quick as a sly brown fox jumping over a lazy dog, she seems know where to put the X or tent peg, and as a games woman is adept at shaking the bushes and casting the hook as well. Almost but not quite as skilled as the clumber lover at intimating and consciously or unconsciously (with a respectful nod to Jung) setting up a story and reinforcing stereotype. That's a bundle of energy, recognized and appreciated as Levity weathers/whethers the in and out tides and storms of change.

Good to see Edutcher receiving a colorful burst of recognition.

Haven't encountered ricpic for a while. Is he taking social distancing to the next level?
