KLEM FM

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way

Full lyrics after the jump.

Very superstitious, writings on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout' to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong,
You don't wanna save me, sad is my song

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way, yeh, yeh

Very superstitious, nothin' more to say,
Very superstitious, the devil's on his way,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass,
Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way, no, no, no

I knew something was up when people who claimed red states deserved the hurricanes (as if a hurricane is something novel to Texas or Florida) decided to have a fundraiser. I will also be surprised if $1 million of the $14 million actually makes it to anyone that needed it.

I also suspect the real reason for the fundraiser is a marketing ploy hoping the people of Texas and Florida will forget about their comments when they show up on tour. I recommend they take a look at how that is going with the NFL.

I rt an excellent question this morning...

"Explain how science proves climate change causes hurricanes, but doesn't prove life begins at conception?"

Answer: Reverend Thomas Robert Malthus Climate Change, the chosen methods to keep Climate Change in check, and abortion will all keep the population in check (for the elite).

Stevie Wonder is one of a kind.

Amartel said...

His music is.

Stevie the Human Being is rather silly.

deborah said...

I know nothing about him whatsoever, and you know I meant his music, sir.

Amartel said...

He believes in things that he doesn't understand and foolishly broadcasts his belief whilst asking people to donate money.

Amartel said...

Stevie the Pop Music composer is in a class by himself. He's his own genre.

deborah said...

To him, personally? Or to a cause?

Did you see Stevie Wonder's new album?

Neither did he.

For those who know nothing about him whatsoever, a comprehensive selection of top stories, quotes, tweets, song titles, music links, and pictures comes up when Stevie Wonder's name is googled.

I appreciate the distinction made between the wonder of his music and some of the beliefs he foolishly entertains and spills out along with the treasure in his peculiar clay jar. It parallels William's observation about Sinead from yesterday, For all the blurred lines in her mind, there's something sharp and clean in her voice

I woke up this morning with the words from of the old song/hymn Higher Ground clearly in mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPnCog98HIk
Why I don't know, perhaps as an aftermath from hurricane drama.

After I'd Looked it up (via Google) and sang along with it, I came to Lem's to read this post; which prompted another checkin with Google to see what kind of info might be immediately available for anyone interested in learning more about Stevie Wonder. At that point I wonderously discovered through the connective magic of Google Foo that Stevie Wonder had also written a song about Higher Ground with the lyrics below.

People keep on learnin'
Soldiers keep on warrin'
World keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be too long
Powers keep on lyin'
While your people keep on dyin'
World keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be too long
I'm so glad that he let me try it again
'Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground
Lovers keep on lovin'
Believers keep on believin'
Sleepers just stop sleepin'
'Cause it won't be too long
Oh no
I'm so glad that he let me try it again
'Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground
Woo!
Till I reach my highest ground
No one's gonna bring me down
Oh no
Till I reach my highest ground
Don't let nobody bring you down (they'll sho 'nough try)
God is gonna show you higher ground

Livin' Just Enough for the City - driving, droning bass. Remarkable singing. Based in Mississippi - what a song. The break is schmaltzy - so it goes.

Higher Ground - great use of a wah-wah pedal. I can't quite figure out the time signature, but if I had to guess, I would say 6/8. Remarkable groove. He played all the intruments in that recording - impressive as heck. He got into bad automobile wreck right after that was released and nearly made it to higher ground himself. The car he was riding in ran into a logging truck here in Carolina. Of course, I could do the Eddie Murphy bit "You a genius? If you such a genius, take the wheel!", but I will refrain from such gratuitous blind humor.

Sir Duke - puke.

Steveland Morris is two months older than I am. I too, played keyboards. Unlike Little Stevie, I lacked talent. So I have always admired his ability and his success, but as he has gotten further and further left I have given up listening to his work. So it goes. In reality, it is my loss - he really is gifted, but he should just STFU and sing.

One more thing, Steve, it's a shame that none of your hired lackies have bothered to tell you that your hair looks like shit.

What a wonderful set of comments!

Thank You all.

You are welcome, Mr. Lit, assuming that any of my comments fall into that category. My massive ego makes me believe that they do.

Now, how about some Aretha? Now there is a huge talent.

So, so, so grateful that my dad's and stepmom's power has come back on, particularly on account of the technology that keeps my dad's beloved monitored in terms of both heart/stroke.

That said, and make no mistake about, still vigilantly keep tracking of others.

Whose power is still out.

I just have to wonder, chickelit, whether either you didn't search for an early live version of Stevie Wonder performing "Superstition," or, maybe, you did so search and then decided to put up the anodyne link that exists in your post, as a matter of choice.

@rcommal: I wanted Mr Wonder's offensive remarks to stand out as much as possible. I didn't think to distract with a better version.

chickelit said...

What I meant is that I think his lyrics for "Superstition" are inspired and true; had he only headed himself, he would have had less hassle.

chickelit said...

"Heeded', not "headed." No reason to go all Bannon on poor Stevie. :)
