On a Sense of Anger & the World Wound Up Like a Huge Spring

From Richard Fernandez, On the Post Pandemic World:

"In the aftermath of the pandemic, hard questions will be asked about the origins of the virus, the integrity of the social media censors, the ‘snail speed’ at which the administration pursued anti-COVID therapies, and the future of all the controls promulgated in the name of necessity. And what people learn may not exactly please them. David Brooks, writing in the NYT, notices a sour mood abroad in the land and wonders why the public is so surly."

(Fernandez quoting Brooks from the NYT article) “I couldn’t figure it out. Why would Americans be driving so much more recklessly during the pandemic? ...a Substack article from Matthew Yglesias hit my inbox this week. It was titled, “All Kinds of Bad Behavior Is on the Rise.” Not only is reckless driving on the rise, Yglesias pointed out, but the number of altercations on airplanes has exploded, the murder rate is surging in cities, drug overdoses are increasing, Americans are drinking more, nurses say patients are getting more abusive, and so on and so on. … Teachers are facing a rising tide of disruptive behavior. … What the hell is going on? The short answer: I don’t know. I also don’t know what’s causing the high rates of depression, suicide and loneliness that dogged Americans even before the pandemic and that are the sad flip side of all the hostility and recklessness I’ve just described." (end of Brook's quote)

"Maybe David Brooks doesn’t know the cause of the anger he senses, but we’re about to find out. The pandemic wound up the world like a huge spring and it threatens to snap back with as yet incalculable results. The next few years will be full of surprises, not more of the same."

On Shift Happening, Truth, Other Sources & Pointed Observations on Digging In and Digging Out

From Walter Kirn's July 16, 2021 article entitled, "The Bullshit--Digging out" on his substack, Unbound, accompanied by the yellow digging illustration above:

"Every morning, there it is, waiting for me on my phone. The bullshit. It resembles, in its use of phrases such as “knowledgeable sources” and “experts differ,” what I used to think of as the news, but it isn’t the news and it hasn’t been for ages. It consists of its decomposed remains in a news-shaped coffin. It does impart information, strictly speaking, but not always information about our world. Or not good information, because it’s so often wrong, particularly on matters of great import and invariably to the advantage of the same interests, which suggests it should be presumed wrong as a rule...

One option, more popular each day, is to retreat to the anti-bullshit universe of alternative media sources. These are the podcasts, videos, Twitter threads, newsletters, and Facebook pages that regularly vanish from circulation for violating “community standards” and other ineffable codes of conduct, oft-times after failing “fact-checks” by the friendly people at Good Thoughtkeeping. Some of these rebel outfits are engrossing, some dull and churchy, many quite bizarre, and some, despite small staffs and tiny budgets, remarkably good and getting better. Some are Substack pages owned by writers who severed ties with established publications, drawing charges of being Russian agents, crypto-anarchists, or free-speech “absolutists.” I won’t bother to give a list. Readers who hunt and choose among such sources have their own lists, which they fiercely curate, loudly pushing their favorites on the world while accusing those they disagree with of being “controlled opposition” and running cons. It resembles the old punk-rock scene, but after it was discovered, not early on. Some of the upstart outlets earn serious money, garnering higher ratings and more page-views than the regime-approved brands Apple features on the News screen of my iPhone. (A screen I’ve disabled and don’t miss.) This wilderness of “contrarianism” – a designation easily earned these days; you merely have to mention Orwell or reside in Florida -- requires a measure of vigilance and effort from those who seek the truth there. As opposed to those who go there to relax, because they prefer alt-bullshit to mainstream bullshit. They can just kick their shoes off and wade in. "

He ends the article recalling a conversation he had with his dying dad about who might have killed JFK, with his dad concluding "All I know is we didn’t get the truth.”  Kirn follows that up with, "I’m fairly sure we often don’t. Still, it’s hard to give up hope, and today I blew half an hour on the bullshit, under which the truth lies buried. Maybe. Maybe it’s bullshit the whole way down. How much time do you have for finding out?

Less than you had this morning.

Fact."

An American man don’t need you around anyhow!

Funny How the Deep State Isn't

This will probably win me no friends, but I think it's worth airing.

Mama has taken note of Substack, so I think at least one pair of eyes will taker a gander.

Here's the story, including a lot of stuff that's only previously come to light, of how 4 Americans were murdered by their own government. Included is how Ashli Babbitt tried to stop some Lefty from breaking windows inside the Capitol, including giving him a well-deserved, doubtless long overdue smack in the head.

This was our Bloody Sunday. There's a lot of Satyagraha going on here, in Canada, Australia, and across Europe. We're getting close to the edge.

On Sometimes Feeling Like a Nut, and Knowing It When You See it; More on Craziness and MFP

With today designated by The Other McCain as “Blog About MFP Day”, here’s a link to the clearest description I’ve found online to date, an opinion piece written by Heidi Wetzler entitled, How Have We Gotten Here? Mass Formation Psychosis Explained”.

I join her in acknowledging the sense of craziness that’s come up for me in my attempts to determine what is real and reconcile the convoluted information, dishonest explanations, and nonsensical gov't dictates surrounding our national response to the Covid threat, and even further out, the global response to it.

Wetzler says, I drive myself crazy trying to find logical reasons why the masses whole-heartedly accept everything that Dr Fauci or other national and global health officials proclaim.  The announcements can change with the wind, lack data to support, openly contradict what was said the day before, or include outright lies, but as long as they are echoed and supported in the mainstream media, they are believed as truth.  This is the result of mass formation psychosis."

She lists the four contributing factors as:

Lack of societal bonding

Majority of people viewing their lives as being without purpose or meaning

Free floating anxiety

High levels of frustration and aggression

With the fears, beliefs and controversies surrounding the virus, the vaccinations, and the mandates, “society has been given somewhere to place their anxiety, community has been formed around a seemingly heroic struggle against a common goal” and fighting the virus has given purpose to rudderless lives, providing a focus and a global connection “where there once was a void”.

This psychological phenomenon explains why so many have bought into a clearly illogical narrative, and why they are willing to participate in the prescribed strategy--”even when it’s utterly absurd,  The reason they buy into the narrative is because it leads to this new social bond, Desmet explains, Science, logic and correctness have nothing to do with it.  Humans crave community and long for social bonds…This group of people is deathly concerned with living outside the fold…It is absolutely stunning to me, the lack of questions being asked.

What will break this trance?  The answer at this point is personal loss.  Each one will need to be personally affected by a vaccine/booster injury, or a loss of freedom they care about, or a loss of livelihood, in order to begin to turn the tide. "

Can this country be saved from the destruction that awaits those who give in to a totalitarian approach?  I hope so.  As long as we don’t keep turning to bread and circuses to comfort, entertain, and numb ourselves into overlooking or accepting falsehoods and manipulations designed to control rather than empower.

The scene I most appreciate in the movie Apollo 13, shows Gene Krantz, cutting through the BS, confusion, personal opinions, corporate concerns and defenses swirling about in the room around him, to bluntly lay out the reality of the situation with the statement, Well, unfortunately we’re not landing on the moon are we?  I don’t care what anything was designed to do. I care about what it can do.  Let’s get to work. Let’s lay it out Ok?"  With that he proceeds to invite a divided crew to come together, focus,  look for and come up with real, life saving information and solutions.   I continue to hope for and believe someone committed to Common Sense and willing to speak with the Voice of Reason will eventually rise up and be heard as we figure out the path forward.  In the meantime, personally engaging in an ongoing commitment to reality at all costs seems like a good place to start.

On Banana Republics, and Flickers of Truth & Levity

On a Girl and her Dad; a Woman and a Man She Loves

From a link at another blog, the video below, showcasing a woman and a man she loves singing together, reflecting balance and the ability of an adult woman to retain and reveal girlish essence.  Beautifully and invitingly done.  Whether she's milk-fed or Pink matters not a wink.  What comes through is a lovely vitality and bond that's a wonder to see and hear, regardless of the political opinions held or expressed.

The Babe Abides!

“Hey Fadda long time no see.”
“I have been reading about your exploits George. I am very disappointed.”
“See! Nothings changed.”

I was told there would be no Dylan, poetry

In my craft or sullen art

Exercised in the still night
When only the moon rages
And the lovers lie abed
With all their griefs in their arms
I labour by singing light
Not for ambition or bread
Or the strut and trade of charms
On the ivory stages
But for the common wages
Of their most milk fed heart.

Not for the proud man apart
From the raging moon I write
On these spindrift pages
Nor for the towering dead
With their nightingales and psalms
But for the morons, their arms
Round the griefs of the ages,
Who pay no praise or wages
Nor heed my craft as art

On Dictation and More Dylan

Straight from the old horse's mouth, or the other end, depending on point of view, covering whinnying, whining, exaggerations, differing opinions, and fresh steaming piles of manure.  With the manure coming through as smelly but useful for the fertilization and enhancement of fruitfulness and creative growth.  Everyone's got something to offer, from good old boys to good old Bob, Cleopatra to Michael Yon.

"...When that steamboat whistle blows

I'm gonna give you all I got to give

And I do hope you receive it well
Depending on the way you feel that you live
Dear Landlord
Please, heed these words that I speak
I know you've suffered much
But in this you are not so unique
All of us, at times, we might work too hard
To have it too fast and too much
And anyone can fill his life up
With things he can see but he just cannot touch
Dear Landlord
Please, don't dismiss my case
I'm not about to argue
I'm not about to move to no other place
Now, each of us has his own special gift
And you know this was meant to be true
And if you don't underestimate me
I won't underestimate you"

PS.  About  making Thursday "Everybody Blog About Mass Formation Psychosis Day", this blog is way ahead of the curve, thanks to Michael Yon's link presented here back at the end of November.   Yon also continues to predict famine down the road, with what's showing up now in regard to supply and production, here in the US and world wide, being the tip of the iceberg.  He may be prescient there too, who knows?
