First the 'scientists' tell us butter is bad and we should use margarine. Now they have changed their minds. Same thing with coffee...bad...now good. High carbs....good....nope now it is bad and we should eat more protein. Eggs are going to kill us....um....wait...they are good for us.
They don't know what they are talking about and have done more harm than good by making all these pronouncements about what we should eat and drink.
Ignore them.
Everything in moderation. Drink some beer. Have a glass of wine or two. Have a cocktail once in a while. Eat a steak occasionally. Life is too short to be constantly worried about the little stuff. Enjoy.
I'm afraid of breast cancer. Molly Ivins, bless her dear, sweet, good-natured heart, and her radiant smile, was an alcoholic. She died of an especially aggressive type of cancer, inflammatory breast cancer.

We have been watching this silly little show called the "Hart of Dixie" from the Country Channel.
The mayor is an ex-nfl player called Lavon Hayes who is obviously modeled on someone like Lawrence Taylor. His ex-girlfriend played by Golden Brooks (not the old Cowboy receiver) who is a very attractive black woman. She decides to run against him for mayor and they end up having dueling barbecues to get voters. She promotes it by saying she is having a famous TV chef who is a good friend of hers cater the event. Guess who that celebrity chef was?

I do like being compared to Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten). I love her show. Her laid back way of cooking. Interesting dinner parties, luncheons. Big envy for her garden and fabulous kitchen.
Entertaining is fun. Cooking is fun. Eating and drinking is FUN (and necessary try living without it). Don't let the food nazis suck all the enjoyment out of life.
I don't worry about cancer in what I eat or drink because, as I said....moderation. Plus certain cancers are just genetic and it doesn't matter what you do. You are susceptible. In addition if you are a tobacco user (which I am not), your odds of getting illness are increased.
Right now, I'm planning a Dim Sum party for my friends who have never had Dim Sum. Some of the ingredients I have to order on line. Just not available here. Like non glutenous wheat flour and tapioca starch. Har Gow. (which I love but have never made) Shui Mai. Bao. Seasoned chicken wings.

That is still not enough to induce me to watch more cooking shows and fewer old movies, however. I really want to see "Ieri, oggi, domani" again - Sofia was amazing in that.
