Bob Beckel to the Chinese: Get off my lawn

"A California state senator on Saturday called on Beckel to resign. Ted Lieu, who represents suburban Los Angeles and is running for the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat, called himself "one of those 'Chinamen' with 'Oriental' eyes" who immigrated to the United States and majored in computer science.

"I also served on active duty in the United States Air Force and continue to serve my country in the Reserves," Lieu said.

"Mr. Beckel's comments are more than just racist and stupid. His ignorant views are dangerous."

Beckel also told his co-hosts that Americans should be worried about Chinese people because "there's billions of them. All they do is hack into our stuff. They send us cheap toys, all of which have lead in them so they kill the kids."

A liberal political pundit working for a conservative-leaning news network, Beckel last year said on "The Five" that his eyes look "oriental" after he swims."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beckel  is the token liberal of The Five, which airs late afternoon on Fox News. I don't care for the show, too much schmoozing, but I do appreciate Beckel. Not the typical pushover token liberal. Do you think he should go? Do you think he will go?
Token idiot, from the sound of it. Don't want to know what he is tokin' on, however. Boy is gettin' dumber by the minute, which is sayin' something for a commie.
You know, the folks on all these cable network shows are actors. They get identified as left or right, but that's just for the purpose of portraying them as reliably identifiable stock characters.
I notice this most strikingly in the black dude, what's his name? Juan Williams! He's always given the role of defending Obama and the liberals from the standpoint of a sorta edgy black dude.
It's a tough role to play.
Beckel is assigned the role of the liberal ward boss and he plays it pretty well. The villain role is always the best.
I despise this prick but we have to support him in the face of the typical political correct bullshit. Of course liberals will never stand up for a conservative but we need to stand up for anyone who is attacked by the thought crime police. That is why you have to refuse to pile on and attack even unsavory douchebags like Donald Sterling, Anthony Cumia and this worthless prick.
Majoring in computer science doesn't mean you're smart.
I've got a degree in computer science and I couldn't hack chicken.
Was that racist?
Who gives a dang about what Bob Beckel says, other than an attention-whoring politician?
His words have no impact on American politics or society.
Like the goof yelling in the bus station, just ignore him.
Beckel's not going anywhere. His character is "old school" and he says politically incorrect stuff on a regular basis.
Manufactured crisis. There are much more important things to worry about.
The babes on the show are hot. Tantaros is my favorite.Juan Williams is just plain dumb, Beckel is just plainly an ignoramus. He thinks he knows a lot but he doesn't. He is living in the 60's like a lotta libruls. And no, I don't think he should be fired because I am looking forward to the day when his heart explodes because he gets so livid & angry listening to the conservatives on the show like Greg Gutfeld.
I see the show as a variation on Gilligan's Island. Andrea Tantaros and Dana Perino are variations of Mary Jane, and Kimberly Guilfoyle is Tina Louise......I have read that there were male cast members on Gilligan's Island. Perhaps Beckel plays the part of the crusty old Captain, Eric Bolling the sane Professor, and Greg Gutfeld the Gilligan's role.
Love Gutfeld.
I agree they'll keep Beckel, as he raised the profile of the show.
ST is right, they're playing roles, but I wouldn't characterize Williams as 'almost edgy.' His faux indignation is pouty.
Deborah:
If you haven't seen Gutfeld's show Red Eye, I recommend you check it out. The bade news is airs at 3AM.
Beckel is treated respectfully on The Five due to his age. The rest of them are like, "we've found a liberal, may we keep him?" It is fleetingly sad to see him wheezing and mumbling those old librul bromides, day after day. You wish they understood better that liberals are high maintenance and require constantly supervised feeding, watering, and medicating. He's not healthy. By choice but it's uncomfortable to watch sometimes.
AJ that's where I first knew him from. Great show. My sister says she gets a replay at 11pm. Like the Daily show replays the previous night's show at 5?
Am, I haven't watched it enough to notice Beckel looking ill. I didn't even know Williams was on sometimes.
I like Beckel and even as I disagree with most of his stands. Surprisingly he has come out strongly against Muslims who target Christians and others who are America's enemies. I just chalked it up to an attempt to establish that liberal's really do love America. Didn't take any of it seriously. Guess the Chinese comment was more of the same.
Beckel views himself as an expert on booze and drugs because he is a reformed alky and dug addict. He also whines that before Obamacare, he could not get medical insurance at a reasonable price [and I yell at the TV screen "You idiot, do you think an insurance company should offer the same rate to you, an overweight, ex-drunk, ex-drug abuser with a range of medical problems cause by your alcohol and drug abuse as it does to a person who does not have your medical and criminal history?"]
Deb- I wish FNC would offer Red Eye on Demand so I could watch it at a convenient time.
deborah said...
AJ, I never heard of Beckel before this show, so I did not know of his checkered past.
You don't have a DVR?
I'm Full of Soup said...
No Deb- No DVR. I pay for almost every channel available and most offer "on demand" but for some reason, Rupert Mudoch does not offer that for FNC shows.
I am surprised Red Eye has not broken out into the general public-Gutfeld is way funnier than Jon Stewart but of course I don't care for libs like Stewart.
deborah said...
Red Eye is funnier to conservatives, I don't know how libs take it.
It's way too raunchy to be prime time. But yes, why can they not play it at 11 or midnight, when all they're doing is showing reruns of that night's programs.
On the other hand, it is so raunchy, putting it on at three may be out of respect to the social cons...'yeah, we know this is pretty bad.'
Or maybe it's to be 'cool.'
Is Bill the gay guy still on? He is the hilarious. I love him and his shtick. I don't know why he doesn't have his own sit-com by now.
