The Michael Sam Show!

In the week following his draft by the St. Louis Rams, the Oprah Winfrey Network announced that they would film a documentary series about Sam, chronicling his efforts to make the team. link

And people thought Sarah Palin was a "drama queen" for starting a reality TV show.

It's a cheap shot but I had to laugh.

"...it has to be about the team and so I’m wondering, there are guys in the Rams locker room that to me probably said, ‘You know what I’m going to do my best to embrace this guy and embrace the situation..."

Embrace, really.

On the one hand Whitlock seems pretty gullible, well, very gullible. On the other at least he is aware, and stalwart enough to say cut him now.

All reality shows are freak shows. This won't even be a funny one.

Sorry for the OT. But Spinelli I'd really like to hear your opinion on this story. Excellent sleuthing to my mind.

Again, sorry.

Excuse me for not knowing anything about this dude or his story, but this is the gay football player, right? I don't particularly care about gay or sports, but why is this news? A guy who spends his formative years in locker rooms with naked men turns out to like them? Wow, what a surprise. This not new, and gay is so 1990's and 1980,s and 2000,s and all the time, everywhere. It's like the weather in Southern California: totally not a surprise, and yet on the news every night.

He knew they wanted to do it long before the draft, but kept quiet so as "not to spoil his chances".

The guy must be insufferable.

A "tragic career-ending injury" may be closer than we imagine.

This story is getting better and better.

To bad he isn't joining a football team. He is running away to join the circus.

I don't watch that much TV, Titus especially sports. I am keenly interested in those media beasts like Oprah who helped destroy Palin and who prop up a failing President. I think Oprah is a racist, and we'll all be better off when she's exposed for what she is.

Yet there are times like right now when I've been interested in our weather and grateful that they get it right.

Wow, XRay, what an amazing story.

(no apology necessary. we do that around here.)

Gay sex is not a draw. OK, maybe fake lesbian sex is a little, but still a lessor intrigue than say straight sex, which in case you haven't noticed, is the biggest industry in the world, the mover and shaker of nations, and the destroyer of worlds both macro and micro throughout all of history. Now that is what I call really "fab"! Too bad some people can't deal with it.

It seems to me that if you take any gay couple, you can easily imagine the sex, but a straight couple is more of a mystery, a drama, an intrigue. Gay men are especially boring as a concept, at least to men - a real snooze fest. That's my opinion anyway, but maybe I'm a little biased. I fucking love women! I mean really really love them. My God, if I was gay, I would just roll up in the corner and sleep.

Good.

San Carlos MX is great for a novice like me.

I still want Spinelli to comment on that damn story though. It's a great story, you should all read it. Many lessons.

I am trying hard to find anything about Michael Sam interesting. Nope, nothing there. I could care less if he's gay or whatever. It's all an act unless and until he proves himself on a pro NFL arena. He isn't the first, and won't be that last. He just thinks he is and trying to make as much money and garner as much publicity as he can. The NFL as WWE. Yes it is...:-)))

Xray...I agree that's a cool story, even it Vanity Fair, and I'd love to hear Nick's opinion on it.

Appreciated the linked story, Xray, with this part sealing the deal:

He had a fixed policy. He told potential employers up front, “I’ll find out what happened. I’m not going to shade things to assist your client, but I will find out what the truth is.” Brennan liked it when the information he uncovered helped his clients, but that wasn’t a priority. Winning lawsuits wasn’t the goal. What excited him was the mystery.

Looks like the NFL made Oprah an offer she couldn't refuse:

After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, The Untitled Michael Sam Project has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team.

Suppose not everyone on the team wants to be made? Do they have any say in this deal?

If I were a younger man, and in the shower with a bunch of chicks, there's no fucking way in hell I wouldn't have popped a boner.

Eric the Fruit Bat said...

I'm not so very sure I wouldn't pop a boner today, if you really want to get down to it.

The point is: How the hell does that guy keep himself from getting a boner?

Maybe he's not a rump rider, after all.

Eric the Fruit Bat said...

Or maybe he does get boners.

Well, that would certainly make the docu-series more interesting.

There was this guy, back when I was in high school, who was pretty obviously gay and he got picked on quite a bit. I didn't think that was right and so I made it a point to be nice to the guy, knowing what it's like to get picked on, myself.

Anyway, a rumor shot through the school that he popped a boner in the shower after gym class.

I didn't believe it at first but then he was excused from gym class and he transferred to a different school soon afterwards.

It's not easy, growing up.

Eric the Fruit Bat said...

The story was that the girls showered with their underwear still on.

I didn't know what to make of that.

Not much turned on the truth or falsity of the claim but I'm still kind of curious about it.

fify.

When I went to the gym, back in the 80s, a lot of guys didn't use the shower. They'd finish their workout and then put their street clothes back on. I thought that was kind of gross.

One of life's great pleasures is finishing a good workout with a full-force shower as hot as you can stand it for as long as you can stand it.

Feels like love.

Eric the Fruit Bat said...

Actually, I usually cut my shower short because I'd end up feeling a little guilty about their water bill.

I liked the sauna thing.

I was about the only younger guy who used it. Mostly middle-aged guys trying to get back into shape.

There were some interesting conversations.
