Obama official chastises Israel

"Israel’s ongoing occupation of the West Bank is wrong and leads to regional instability and dehumanization of Palestinians, a top American government official said Tuesday in Tel Aviv, hinting that the current Israeli government is not committed to peace.
In an unusually harsh major foreign policy address, Philip Gordon, a special assistant to US President Barack Obama and the White House coordinator for the Middle East, appealed to Israeli and Palestinian leaders to make the compromises needed to reach a permanent peace agreement. Jerusalem “should not take for granted the opportunity to negotiate” such a treaty with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who has proven to be a reliable partner, Gordon said.
“Israel confronts an undeniable reality: It cannot maintain military control of another people indefinitely. Doing so is not only wrong but a recipe for resentment and recurring instability,” Gordon said. “It will embolden extremists on both sides, tear at Israel’s democratic fabric and feed mutual dehumanization.”
Delivering the keynote address at the Haaretz newspaper’s Israel Conference on Peace, Gordon reiterated Obama’s position that a final-status agreement should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed land swaps."

Great timing, with rockets now hitting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Probably more like pre-1776 borders.

So I was wondering who this Philip Gordon guy is who was lecturing Israel and found this at the Daily Beast from last year:

"President Obama’s new National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf does not have much experience with Israeli and Palestinian issues, but observers said the White House will instead benefit from his extensive inside-the-beltway skills."

How does he think the Arabs got control of Western Asia? Salesmanship?

Zero expectation for the Palestinians to do anything. Israel is always expected to be the adult while the child flings poo.

Enough.

This is yet another example of the Obama administration loosing control of its actors in the field.

The only thing the Obama administration has its mind on is the mid-term elections. Do they think that shit like this is going to help with raising money from the Jewish community, the group that by itself that gives the Demos at least 40% of all the money they (the Demos) rake in?

Bad mouthing the Israelis in peace is one thing. Bad mouthing them in public as the rockets fall is another.

Unfortunately, the "Jewish Community," such as it is, identifies less and less with Israel and more and more with the one world socialist elites. It's complicated but really boils down to self-hatred. The Obama supporting Jews are a subset of the western elites, who hate the West in its values, race and affluence, which is to say they both live in great comfort and despise themselves for living in great comfort and attack at its very roots the society that provides the good life while thinking that somehow magically that good life will go on forever. Sick fucks. Schmendrik knows I'm right.

Obama probably wants pre-1492 borders for the US.

And I wonder when the Administration is going to complain about various Latin American countries are occupying our border lands.

I'm getting the idea that Obama likes the terrorists more than he likes the Jews.

Obama Official saw a crisis and did what comes naturally to the Party of Government: Tried to take advantage of it. What an embarrassing douchebag. To say nothing of the substance of the advice, which was typically stupid. Let's negotiate with people who target nuclear facilities and herd their people into dangerous areas to jack up the casualties, esp kids, that they can blame on Israel. Who celebrate the execution of teenagers. Who are terrorists as acknowledged even by our own candyassed State Department.

Trooper York said...

Ricpic is spot on with his analysis.

How can these douchnozzles think that it is important to lecture Israel while terrorists shot off rockets and bombs at a nuclear facility?

When are the Jews in America going to stand up and say enough is enough with this putz?

Trooper York said...

Now it seems that the ISIS terrorists have captured nuclear material from Iraq.

That means they can easily develop a "dirty bomb" in a suitcase they can bring to Tel Aviv. Or New York for that matter.

Can somebody interrupt the fund raiser in Austin and ask the Jug Eared Jesus what he thinks about that?

Troop, it will take one dirty bomb and the ISIS held territory will be glass.

Deborah,
I know! At least GorDON doesn't go around chastising inconvenient nations for refusing to negotiate with terrorists.

I take little comfort from this since the most likely target for that "one dirty bomb" is NYC, where I lived for decades.

NYC is only 90 miles from my home, too.

I've been wondering for some time whether I should encourage my kids to move elsewhere.

deborah said...

Oh yes ST, I'm relocating to northern Virginia, so I hear you. But at least a dirty bomb is meant to terrify, not do significant damage:

"A dirty bomb is a speculative radiological weapon that combines radioactive material with conventional explosives. The purpose of the weapon is to contaminate the area around the dispersal agent/conventional explosion with radioactive material, serving primarily as an area denial device against civilians. It is however not to be confused with a nuclear explosion, such as a fission bomb, which by releasing nuclear energy produces blast effects far in excess of what is achievable by the use of conventional explosives."

Shouting Thomas said...

The radioactive fallout from a dirty bomb will kill thousands of people in its immediate vicinity and poison a very large area.

The result will be a flood of terrified, homeless people fleeing NYC and seeking refuge where I live.

So Philip Gordon says Israel's policies "feed mutual dehumanization". I wonder what he'd say about the Palestinians using the people of Gaza as human shields:

Prior to strikes in Gaza, the IDF urges civilians to leave the area via text messages and other means of communications. An official statement by the [Palestinian] ministry of enterior calls the people of Gaza to disregard those warnings and to act as human shields during IDF strikes:

"First, the ministry calling all our people not to deal or pay attention to the psychological warfare carried out by the occupation through rumors that broadcast across his media and delivering publications and communications on the phones of citizens, and the lack of response for each of these means, which aims to weaken the domestic front in light of great steadfastness of our people to face the aggression."

deborah said...

ST, from the same article:

"Since a dirty bomb is unlikely to cause many deaths by radiation exposure, many do not consider this to be a weapon of mass destruction.[2] Its purpose would presumably be to create psychological, not physical, harm through ignorance, mass panic, and terror. For this reason dirty bombs are sometimes called "weapons of mass disruption". Additionally, containment and decontamination of thousands of victims, as well as decontamination of the affected area might require considerable time and expense, rendering areas partly unusable and causing economic damage."

90 miles is a fair piece, anyway :)

Hopefully anyone who got hold of nuclear material would have to go through the leaders of their organization to effect and deliver a bomb to America, and those leaders would have the foresight to realize what a very bad idea that would be.

Here is a website to use to keep up to date on Israel. It really is something I cannot describe adequately as I receive emails from friends there talking about the rockets that come in the night and how Iron Dome takes most of them down.

Another very good and straightforward, honest, site is this one.

Israel is the canary in the coal mine. Doubt doubt that.

We have our loose cannons right here at home...this one not far from me. Read the article and think what you need to think. He's called a "cleric" but he is a "cleric" nowhere except in his militancy.

This guy is dangerous, but he is NOT typical of the community, although he will get the headlines and he does work against us all. I am more concerned about him when his probation is complete and he is out of supervision.

Sounds good to me, the ignorant fool apparently doesn't realize the "1967 line" is the Jordan River as and where it flows. The line he's trying to say are those of 1948, (e.g., pre-1967...aka "the green line") the armistice line when Jordan occupied the West Bank in the 1948 war. Israel re-captured the land to Jordan River in 1967 and it is part of the territory Israel was supposed to acquire per the San Remo Accords as amended in 1922, when Jordon was created initially as Arab Palestine, with the west bank and all of the land west of the Jordan designated Jewish Palestine. Jordan expelled the radical Fatah elements from their territory in to the "West Bank" in 1970-71, and thus today we have demands for ANOTHER two state solution. There has already been one 2-state solution in 1922 and Fatah was kicked out of their side, 77% of the land mass in fact.

Be a shame if our leadership knew history. BTW...Haaretz is equivalent to our MSNBC...no surprise Gordon spoke there.
