"A.I. Is Progressing So Fast We Need a Basic Guaranteed Income"

This video clip reminds me of a movie, I believe it may have been The Time Machine (1960), or a Twilight Zone episode. Where the protagonist arrives a time when people, because they had no more care in the world ie no more wars and famine, decided to just relax and play all day. They did not read nor strive. The protagonist found the outcome extremely disturbing and disappointing, in a speech.

Whatever makes these guys believe in a different outcome?

For many decades some of our best minds have explored the possibilities of this development, and they mostly haven't made it look very inviting. There is something very scary about people with too much time on their hands. " Idle hands are the devil's workshop."

In 50 years people will be asking "If you could go back in time and kill Jeremy Howard, would you?"

The correct answer will be "No, I'd send a robot in Ray-Bans."

A.I. is progressing so fast we need ______________________.
You could put anything in there.
Works in other formulas as well.
The earth is warming so fast we need _____________________.
1. Make unverifiable sciencey prediction. (Try to look sciencey while doing this. Wear glasses and/or lab coat.)
2. Follow up with costly/outlandish/unsustainable demand.

Dang, that thing got some air!
I'll stick to my super-safe exploding hoverboard, thank you very much.

Wow Ampersand! I never saw that before. That is about as complete a job of car destruction that a man can do, and it only took a second. It's absolutely unbelievable that he survived that.

In the future everyone will only get to go home once a year.
In the future everyone will stay home all the time.
In the future we will not have time for leisure activities.
In the future we will only work one day a week.

About what I work now.

All the robots in the world won't turn Haiti into Iceland. Haiti will still be a dreckhole and Iceland will still be pristine. So there's something else that matters. What could it be? What could it be?.........

I retired about twenty years ago. I find I have a flair for doing nothing. It's my true vocation. It does take a certain amount of self discipline to be productively lazy. A lot of people roll over and sleep for an extra hour in the morning. That's all well and good, but I find it better to get out of bed. Too much sleep in the morning can interfere with your afternoon nap. The afternoon nap is the money nap. That's the one that allows you to go out into the world looking refreshed and peppy.

Oh, and if you're going to wash your hair tonight, don't use WEN shampoopoo.
