"Government finds new emails Clinton did not hand over"
"The U.S. Defense Department has found an email chain that Hillary Clinton did not give to the State Department, the State Department said on Friday, despite her saying she had provided all work emails from her time as secretary of state."
The correspondence with General David Petraeus, who was commander of U.S. Central Command at the time, started shortly before she entered office and continued during her first days as the top U.S. diplomat in January and February of 2009....
Last December, she provided what she said were copies of all 30,000 or so work emails she had in her possession, nearly two years after she stepped down as secretary of state.
She did not hand over another 30,000 emails from the period that she deemed personal and said she chose "not to keep."
The emails with Petraeus also appear to contradict the claim by Clinton's campaign that she used a private BlackBerry email account for her first two months at the department before setting up her clintonemail.com account in March 2009. This was the reason her campaign gave for not handing over any emails from those two months to the State Department.The lies just keep piling up

Netflix is running a Keith Richards biopic called "Under The Influence"; I watched it tonight. I suppose it's a must see for Stones fans. I enjoyed it. One thing I did learn was that Keith wrote "Street Fighting Man" on piano and that the germ for the idea came from noodling around in the studio with Charlie Watts. Keith played only acoustic guitar on the song (no electric) and he also played bass guitar! In his words "I'm probably a better bass player than a guitar player."

An app. What the heck. It's a good one too. It offers puzzles from some twenty places, several are doubled on the list. The best, of course, will be NYT, only a few classics of those. I expect they will be the only ones with themes and themes are the only thing that makes these worthwhile.
This one is from a place called Universal Crosswords, never heard of them, it's titled "turn around" so, with a title it very well could have a theme, a long entry is filled in "flip side," that goes, thematically, if so then it's a lame theme with only two thematic entries and the list says on the front before reentering this puzzle is saved at 58% completed before being abandoned as unworthy. Because of the yellow word.
It's a bummer when solvers are smarter than constructors. It's not supposed to be that way. Dummkopfery like this wrecks the whole thing and not just this puzzle, the whole Universal Crossword collection and their editors. This is a junior high school error. Another thing, at twenty, don't correct anyone twenty years your senior on this word at an outdoor patio dinner or the label "smartass" attached to you will take decades to outgrow. This puzzle, one word clued so poorly put me off the whole thing.

"Hillary Clinton certifies email handover, but aides demur"
"Acting in response to a request from a federal judge, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Friday submitted her first official, formal certification under penalty of perjury that she had all her work-related email turned over to the State Department."
However, two aides to Clinton appear to have rebuffed parallel requests from U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan that they similarly certify that they'd turned over certain emails and other records in their possession relating to their work at State...
State's decision to deem classified some of the emails on Clinton's server has also created a layer of complexity some may see as a Catch-22: if aides destroy the records, they could be seen as hindering ongoing investigations, but if they deliberately hang on to classified materials without authorization, they could be breaking the law.
Sullivan did not appear completely satisfied with the assurances in the latest round of letters, as he issued an order Friday night instructing State to ask Clinton, Mills and Abedin not to destroy any official records.
"The Court hereby directs the Government to request that Mrs. Hillary Clinton, Ms. Huma Abedin, and Ms. Cheryl Mills i) not delete any federal documents, electronic or otherwise, in their possession or control, and ii) provide appropriate assurances to the Government that the above-named individuals will not delete any such documents," wrote Sullivan, an appointee of President Bill Clinton. "The Government shall inform the Court of the status of its compliance with this Order no later than August 12, 2015, including a copy of any assurances provided by Mrs. Clinton, Ms. Abedin and Ms. Mills that they will not delete any federal documents in their possession or control."What a mess.
Pope embraces Cuomo legacy.
Pope Francis’ warm and forgiving nature was on display again Thursday when he said he would pray for Gov. Cuomo’s late father, Mario, sources told The Post.
The pontiff told Cuomo that Mario — who himself led New York state from 1983 to 1994 — was a great man despite Mario’s support of abortion rights.
Francis also blessed the governor’s gal pal, Sandra Lee — a cancer survivor — when the couple met the pontiff outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral before a service.
“The pope gave Sandra a special blessing for her health and her recovery and Cuomo asked the pope to say a prayer for his father,” the source said.
“The pope told him . . . that his father was a great man and he would keep him in his prayers.”
Mario Cuomo, who died in January, argued in a 1984 speech at the University of Notre Dame that Catholic politicians could personally oppose abortion while fighting laws that would restrict it.
Lee said this week she was cancer-free after undergoing a double mastectomy.

Pope Pope Francis has a new No. 1 fan — and he isn’t even Catholic.
Sen. Charles Schumer was effusive in his praise of the pontiff’s speech to Congress Thursday when the pair met later outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
“Congress just loved you and loved your speech. All of New York loves you, Catholic and non-Catholic alike,” said Schumer, who is Jewish. “We all agree in Congress, it was just about the best speech we’ve ever heard!
Timothy Cardinal Dolan, who was with the pope, responded, “That’s quite a compliment!"
And a smiling Francis agreed.
“Thank you,” he told Schumer, who earlier had told CNN his “hair was standing on end” when he first met the pope.

It is very difficult when you don't believe in your leader.
It is extremely difficult when you have a leader you do not believe in. You want to be loyal but you know that he is mistaken and going down the wrong path. So you speak out in protest. You say"this is not who we are." You plead with him to fight for the causes that you have always believed in. That he speak up forthrightly and clearly and not kowtow to the likes of Obama to garner good notices in the media. You will lose friends who can't believe that you would dare question your leader no matter how far astray he might lead you. You are told that you shouldn't dare speak out. That legitimate criticism is "bashing" and beyond the pale. You protest that we should not abandon the fight for the right to life or other core issues to engage in global warming nonsense. You plead with him to fight the good fight vocally and vehemently. To not surrender and acquiesce by tailoring his message to a more palatable version of namby pamby safe speak.
But don't worry. I have very good news.
John Boehner has retired.
So we don't have to worry about that anymore.

"German 'Murder' Victim Petra Pazsitka Turns Up Alive 30 Years After Disappearance"
The cold case was officially closed in 1989 — but heated up again two weeks ago when police in the western German city of Düsseldorf were called to reports of a burglary.
The woman who reported the burglary initially identified herself as "Mrs. Schneider" but when asked for identification confessed that she was Pazsitka, according to Düsseldorf police spokesman Andre Hartwich.
Pazsitka, now 55, told police she had been living without any official documents under a false name in several German cities for the past three decades, Grande said.
"She did not even have a bank account and paid all her bills cash," Grande said, adding that Pazsitka appeared to have been making a small income through illicit work.
