Lem, I'm surprised you don't have anything up on the deteriorating situation in DC. The deal has fallen apart in the House, and Boehner looks to be in deep shit with his own party.
But then, you are basking in the glow of two straight wins, so you're probably not that interested right now.
"The meltdown on Capitol Hill doesn’t mean the end of the Tea Party. In fact, most of those lawmakers accurately point out that they are doing what the constituents in their painfully drawn, one-sided, overwhelmingly white, aging, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, science-denying districts want. Still, there are emerging signs -- from declining poll numbers to the breach with the Republican Party’s traditional business allies -- that the act is getting old. Mess with Democratic totems such as Social Security and nutritional programs for pregnant mothers, send Sarah Palin to Washington periodically to pour salt on open wounds, but don’t mess with Treasury bills and the markets."
Obama needs to begin negotiating and to accept the miniscule (but overly symbolic to him) modifications to his signature legislation. Otherwise, he appears to be ordering the House to pass whatever he wants carte blanche. It is simply bad precedent for any Executive to have that much power.
YOh and you can un-elect a Congress for failing to take orders but you can't impeach them for it.
Democrats have lied so often about calamities approaching if their whishes are not adhered to, deadlines have come and gone and nothing has happened as predicted.
I don't believe a word coming from this White House.
Obama, Holder, and Vilsack all could readily be impeached, but that is as far as it would go with this Senate, and the House knows that.
There is a basic thing with the loony left, or "intellectual elite," that they know they are a minority even within the Democratic Party, and in order to keep their grip on the government of this nation, they must keep their various special interest voting blocs in line, no matter what it takes. Hence their refusal to recognize even blatant criminal activities for what they are.
However, I do not see how this administration can last another 3 years without a major financial crash and a real economic depression.
I didn't suggest that "fear of riots" was the reason I am opposed to Obama being impeached under almost under conditions.
Black people have invested their hopes for fair treatment in their support of Obama. The election of Obama is the last step in the full assimilation of blacks into the political and electoral process.
For that reason, it is vitally important that Obama complete his term in peace and leave office at the end of his term.

I don't doubt that he will--even for reasons you cite. But that does not justify a fawning media not doing its job and holding him to the same standards as any other President.
Not paying interest on federal bonds and not redeeming those that have matured is what is officially called default. It is a violation of federal law to do that. The treasury has authority to issue new bonds up to the current limit. In other words, it can roll over the current debt. It also receives enough tax money to pay the interest due. However, Obama has broken the law before and got away with it. The General Motors bankruptcy is one example.
What the federal gov. does not have is enough money to keep paying all the employees, contractors, and transfer payments currently on the books. It is not against the law to stop paying some of these people. As retired military, I am one of them. To me it would seem reasonable for everyone to take a 5% cut until this is sorted out.
I can see Obama not paying, at all, the people he hates, like me. He did that to the GM bond holders. He seems to have no moral limits.

Don't believe the hype. The line is holding. The decision is we are going to get something out of this.
If we are going down (politically) we are going down fighting.
Here is the thing. If the democrats were really afraid of a financial catastrophe that would doom the country they would act accordingly.
These are the people that try to convince everybody that if we don't grant open border amnesty to illegal alien the republicans will never win again.
They are trying to pull the same bullshit nonsense here again.
HOLD THE LINE!
Is there any way Obama will allow a default?

Deborah: Forgive me for not knowing or caring who Carlson is. Is she an icon for you?
don’t mess with Treasury bills and the markets...
Hey, spread the pain around. To rephrase that man in the White House.
Elections have consequences, and his name Barack Hussein Obama.
Is that true what Palin is saying? That Obama could be impeached for defaulting on the debt?
Don't Believe The Debt Ceiling Hype: The Federal Government Can Survive Without An Increase.

Maybe Obama wants to get impeached.

The House can impeach for whatever they see fit. But there's no way the Senate would ever convict.
It wouldn't make sense to do it anyway. This is a political dispute, and it would be horrible precedent to impeach over such issues.
I checked out of the political crisis mentality some time ago.
That mentality is a sort of addiction... an attempt to convince oneself that you're in the middle of a compelling and mortal drama.
Are you guys getting a little tired of that?
No way in hell Obama is going to be impeached.
He's the first black president. For that reason alone, it is imperative that he finish his term in an orderly fashion and leave office in peace.
I'm not an Obama supporter, but there is no way I would ever support his impeachment.
He knows this, too, which is why he's a bit reckless and arrogant.
El Pollo, M. Carlson is a long-time DC commentator/reporter, I believe for NPR.
Happy Birthday Lem.
Is it your b-day, Lem? If so - I hope it was happy!
Keep in mind the polls are lousy for the Demos and Choom, too; in fact, they're probably worse when you take out the skew.
PS I believe we've been in default since about April.
PPS What Ms Carlson said is no more than standard Lefty boilerplate. Last I heard, the tea Party numbers are better than ever.
Lem, congratulations on the b-day. Looks like your Sawks gave you a nice present.

His race has nothing to do with whether he should be impeached.
If it's fear of riots, there weren't any when EBT went down or for "Trayvon", so I doubt Choom's impeachment would bring them on, either.
I guess the poverty is a little too comfortable.
Ed, is that polling skew the same skew that, when removed, had Romney winning last year?
Thanks Ice

Felicitous compiled annuals, dood.

No, quite different; oversample of government workers.
But, since you raise the issue, that was why they had to crank up the vote fraud machine.
Or do you mean to say you actually think the Choom Gang won fair and square?
Happy Birthday, Lem!
Thanks everybody
Happy belated Birthday, Lem.
Happy birthday, Lem :)
