"NASA Finds Evidence Of Water On Surface Of California"

Reprinted in it's entirety...
NASA scientists said Monday they have found evidence of intermittent water flow on the surface of California, a finding that challenges prevailing views about the desolate planet, sources report.
In a news conference today, NASA officials announced that imagery from the Bayside Reconnaissance Orbiter (“BRO”) revealed trace amounts of water flowing down the slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
“California is not the barren, arid hellscape we thought of in the past,” said Jim Green, director of planetary science at NASA Headquarters. “Of course, the search continues for intelligent life.”
Researchers noted this is not the first sign of water in California. In 2012, satellite imagery showed celebrity actors carrying bottled water in Hollywood, a lifeless crater in the state’s southernmost desert. Later research found this water had been imported from Fiji.
The potential consequences of the discovery are far-reaching, but NASA officials cautioned Earth inhabitants of the dangers that await potential human occupants of California.
“As crazy as it sounds, California may be a habitable planet,” said Green. “But new colonies will still have to contend with earthquakes, oppressive heat, and the residents of Los Angeles.”

NY Post: "Oregon gunman singled out Christians during rampage"

The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” she wrote. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs. My grandma just got to my house, and she was in the room. She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset...
Once they all got down, she said the gunman began asking people to rise and say what their religion was. After they stood and gave their answer, he started shooting.
As the chaos continued, students began scrambling “like ants,” according to Brady Winder, a 23-year-old student from Portland who was in the room next door.
“People (were) screaming, ‘get out!,” he told NRToday, adding that he witnessed a girl frantically swimming across a nearby creek to escape.
As of this post, the name of the shooter was still unknown.

The way we were?

Chico: Villages like this they make up a song about every big thing that happens. Sing them for years.
Chris Adams: You think it's worth it?
Chico: Don't you?
Chris Adams: It's only a matter of knowing how to shoot a gun. Nothing big about that.
Chico: Hey. How can you talk like this? Your gun has got you everything you have. Isn't that true? Hmm? Well, isn't that true?
Vin: Yeah, sure. Everything. After awhile you can call bartenders and faro dealers by their first name - maybe two hundred of 'em! Rented rooms you live in - five hundred! Meals you eat in hash houses - a thousand! Home - none! Wife - none! Kids... none! Prospects - zero. Suppose I left anything out?
Chris Adams: Yeah. Places you're tied down to - none. People with a hold on you - none. Men you step aside for - none.
Lee: Insults swallowed - none. Enemies - none.
Chris Adams: No enemies?
Lee: Alive.
Chico: Well. This is the kind of arithmetic I like.
Chris Adams: Yeah. So did I at your age.

Instant Replay- The Unedited Version

Coach Lombardi was insistent that we pay attention to every detail. He worried about the lights in the film room and the food at the training table. The paper used to print up the play books. The size and type of towels in the locker room.

But most of all he was concerned about the balls.

Not his balls of course. The balls we used to play the game with on the field. You see depending on how the ball was inflated it could do different things. If it was inflated to the max when you kicked it would go really far. If it was deflated then it was easier for Bart Starr to grip and for the receivers to catch in the freezing cold tundra of Lambeau field. Of course you couldn't deflate them too much because of Hornung. You see he like to put them in his mouth. He loved to have balls in his mouth. He was funny that way.

Coach Lombardi was super strict about all of the equipment. The tackling sleds. The whirlpool. And of course the tackling dummies. He always tested them every training camp. He wanted to make sure they were big enough and hard enough. That is why he would sit on them and feel them between his cheeks.

At least that is what he said. Hey. He's the Coach.

"Think how you love me," she whispered. "I don’t ask you to love me always like this, but I ask you to remember. Somewhere inside me there’ll always be the person I am to-night."

jumble

The pot is an example of fail.

And yet it looks nice and I like it. The tall canes failed. The draping vines lived awhile then died. The hostas supposedly easiest of all never thrived, so two more fails. Two contrasting coleuses survived, it is a disappointment but when it comes to gardens doing what they will disappointments turn out okay. Caladium roots were stuck in late in the season, they pulled through again. The heart-shaped leaf plants with no flowers are the most colorful and interesting and useful of all.

Everything in the airy baskets on the railing are played out. Petunias from Home Depot are lousy with aphids sucking the life out of blooms on the vines they moved on to infect. This is the third year Home Depot petunia plants specifically led to aphid infection. Sprays kill the whole deal. They're lost at that point. Most are snipped out.

At the end of a main road Alameda that runs through the center of town must turn when it reaches Green Mountain the place where we learned how to hang glide on one side and on the other side leading directly to Morrison that is right there at Dinosaur ridge. At Green Mountain before the Alameda ends is a park for hikers who don't mind dry Western heat. There are yucca plants at the entrance to the park, I stopped and looked inside the yucca and noticed they're loaded with ladybird bugs. And I mean loaded. Apparently the yuccas are infected with aphids as well. I have never seen that many ladybird bugs but I know right where to go if I ever decide I need a couple thousand or so. I must think of something else and all this new dirt must go. When the project is taken down all the dirt will go too. Because of those aphids.

The original plantings are gone and the vines crossed over to each others's container and beyond. The jumble of vines and leaf structures that do their thing at the end of the season are better than the flowers I planned in the same dirt. This mess would appeal to Japanese aesthetic greatly because it really does look utterly natural. It sort of is. I like it a lot, so much more so than rigidly forced arrangements in containers conforming to standard composition elements, tall, broad, low, deep, light, large small, etc. Although overcrowded and layered pouring out overflowing opulent floral abundance is very nice too.

"Secret Service official wanted to embarrass congressman"

There appears to be no federal government agency that has not been politicized. The Secret Service.
“Some information that he might find embarrassing needs to get out,” Assistant Director Edward Lowery wrote in an e-mail to a fellow director on March 31, commenting on an internal file that was being widely circulated inside the service. “Just to be fair.”
Two days later, a news Web site reported that Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, had applied to be a Secret Service agent in 2003 and been rejected.
That information was part of a Chaffetz personnel file stored in a restricted Secret Service database and required by law to be kept private. (read the story)
The oversight committee was looking into the series of security lapses at the white house. If you recall, some people climbed over the fence, and one of them made it into the white house.

"Oregon marijuana shops begin sales to recreational users"

"I'm just trying to basically stock up for maybe four or five times what the normal volume would be"
Some of the more than 250 dispensaries that already offer medical marijuana in Oregon opened their doors soon after midnight — just moments after it became legal to sell to anyone who is at least 21.
At Portland's Shango Premium Cannabis, co-founder Shane McKee said the first sale to an excited customer came about a minute after midnight, with many others waiting.
"It looks like there is about 60-70 in line out front," he said in a telephone interview shortly after midnight. "They all seem extremely eager."
Green Oasis, which has two locations in Portland and more on the way, has prepared by trying to cultivate strong relationships with growers. On Thursday evening, it will entice customers with a band playing outdoors. People who spend at least $40 on Thursday will get a 10 percent discount, co-owner Matthew Schwimmer said.
"We don't know of anyone else doing a band, and we thought it was a good idea to give back to the community," Schwimmer said.

Hillary saved “Mother” and “Father”

"Clinton documents released by the State Department on Wednesday shows the then-secretary of state exploding at her staff over plans to replace “Mother” and “Father” with “Parent One” and “Parent Two” on passport application forms, complaining about the decision and refusing to defend it in the face of partisan opposition."
Clinton learned about the change through a January 7, 2011 article in The Washington Post. But the policy shift was first announced in a December 2010 press release from the State Department. “These improvements are being made to provide a gender-neutral description of a child’s parents and in recognition of different types of families,” the statement read.
The next day, Clinton sent an early-morning e-mail excoriating top aides Cheryl Mills and Jake Sullivan for the secretive policy shift. “I’m not defending that decision, which I disagree w and knew nothing about, in front of this Congress,” she wrote. “I could live w letting people in nontraditional families choose another descriptor so long as we retained the presumption of mother and father. We need to address this today or we will be facing a huge Fox-generated media storm led by [Sarah] Palin et al.”
