Santorum Gets In Front Of Cruz

Well of course he's not going to get behind Cruz because that would be icky.

As a certified Tea Party "Wacko Bird" (Thanks Senator McCain), Santorum makes me want to retch.
He apparently thinks the path to electoral success is to reinforce the popular perception that conservatives are scowling scolds that want to bring back the concept of the scarlet letter. A political savant that couldn't get reelected as an incumbent U.S. Senator.

They put a camera in front of these guys and they will say just about anything they are told to say.

At least Cruz doesn't do that.

"I would say in the end, he did more harm." Says everyone about Santorum.

Exactly.

Santorum is not electable as President. Now that said, I agree that Republicans need to pay attention to all the legs of the stool. National Security, Social Conservative and Business...but there is a fourth leg and that is Freedom-libertarian (basic Tea Party principles).

We need a candidate who can articulate all those positions in a manner voters will get. It is really not so hard (the issue is balance).

Cruz is a good man. I agree he was a bit hamfisted in this latest fight--but he did not embarrass himself like that dottering old fool John McCain (who soiled himself). As for Santorum, Cruz did not lose Texas by 17 points.

Santorum is just another ex-pol who went to the Imperial City and never left. He still lives there and sucks at some quasi-govt- think tank teat. He's scared shitless the Imperial City well will run dry if guys like Cruz get in power.

Santorum still can't believe voters rejected him in Pennsylvania as Senator. It must be some sort of fluke (or possibly an evil trick).

Thing is, Pennsylvania voters rejected him again when he ran against Mitt Romney.

Since the media hate Ted Cruz more than anyone as they consider Ted Cruz to be the ultimate anti-his-worshipfulness heretic, I can see why NBC dusted off Santorum.

Cruz represents his people and they seem to like him. I'm moving to Texas next year, and unless he screws up, I will vote for him. He stirs things up. I like that.

My leftie friends who lump Santorum in with the Tea Party are going to have headaches from this.

Santorum is a slightly more self-aware version of Todd Atkins. But only slightly. Seems to be a decent human being, but as a politician... he's a shambling ruin. He's everything about traditional Republicanism which is electorally dead - corporatist, union-coddling, coercive-minded social-conservative statist, heart-on-his-sleeve religious in a way which freaks the hell out of an increasingly, cringingly, secular country. He can get the couple dozen of a percent of the electorate which is culturally evangelical, but the rest of the country will run to the polls to vote against him. He'd be the Republican Mondale.
