Damn you Jerry Jones.....Damn you!!!!!!!!!!!

This freaking Mook is going to make me say good things about the Dallas Cowboys and their owner! I have hated the Dallas Cowboys for fifty years. I thought Bob Lilly was a faggot. I wanted to run down  Bob Hayes with a car. I though Duane Thomas should have not just shut up ....he should have run away to join a convent. My fondest wish was to run onto the field to steal Tom Landry's hat so I could take a shit in it.

Now I have to take that all back.

Because Jerry Jones has shamed my former team the New York Giants. He has shamed the whole NFL. Because he is an American.

Jerry Jones has said that the Cowboys were going to stand for the Anthem and show respect. If they don't then they won't play. Bold words for a fat man. Lets see if he holds to it and if the NFL decides to tell him he can't do that.

I tell you this much. If he benches or suspends players who kneel or give the black power salute during the Anthem he will have the overwhelming support of NFL fans. Even the ones who hate the Cowboys like me. Even the ones who have given up on the league. We won't be coming back. That ship has sailed. But he will have our respect and support.

This is momentous. I want to see if the old line supposedly classy organizations like the Giants and the Steelers and the Bears follow suit. If not and this is a one off then the league is truly doomed. The NFL Players union is already involved. If the league steps in and forces him to play any of these
supporters of cop killers then it is really all over. I can't believe that is possible. But with social justice warriors you never can tell.

There is even positive collateral damage. That nasty cunt Jemele Hill from ESPN was suspended for two weeks when she tweeted that fans should boycott the advertisers of the Cowboys. So she got two weeks. Great. Here is someone who has no business talking about sports. Her stock in trade is racial victimization and identity politics. How does she have a job? Well not for long when ESPN goes bankrupt or is dissolved.

Still. That scumbag Jerry Jones has me thinking good thoughts about the Cowboys. Crap.

Life is just not fair.

As a former San Francisco 40whiners fan, I share your outrage and urge to make a smelly deposit into Jerry's hat. He does seem to be the one guy in the NFL able to read the room, albeit a trifle late and after a cringey pre-anthem compromise kneeling display last week.

America's Team is actually America's Team.
End times.
For the NFL, anyway.

I just can't believe it. The Cowboys have showed up the Giants, Packers, Steelers. Patriots and Bears.

Is there no justice?

You can't drive. You don't have a car. Bob Hayes could outrun you even now, and he has been dead for 15 years.

As for the rest, I don't follow football, and I am embarrassed to be commenting on a football thread. But actions speak louder than words. Didn't they kneel prior to a recent game? What did Andrew Dice Clay say, something like "Say, aren't you Neal and Bob?"

Jones had his shot and he kneeled with the team before the Anthem.

Speaking of the names of football players long gone and forgotten by most but not by Troop, my Mom used to race back and forth in the kitchen yelling "Cookie Lavagetto!" Who knows she was probably pissed off at my Dad and blowing off steam but it was impressive to a five year old.

Brooklyn Dodgers.

Did she call you Ducky Medwin?

Eugene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb was a name heard in my house. Then there was that famous gay socialist coach of the Redskins - Vince somebody or other.

Shitting in Tom landry's hat? Now that's funny.

Landry had to put up with a lot of crap. Hollywood Henderson smoking crack during practice. Walt Garrison spitting tobacco juice everywhere. And Roger Staubach drinking rum and committing sodomy - like he did in the Navy.

It wasn't all peaches and cream.

Was it really all more interesting back then in the 70s and 80s - or was just because I was a Kid?

America is not the only country in the world where black people are mistreated, but it's apparently the only country in the world where black people engage in such a protest against mistreatment. Why don't Luo athletes take the knee during the Kenyan anthem. Everybody in Brazil and Cuba think they've got a good deal? Jamaican cops aren't known to treat rowdy youths in Trenchtown with tlc. Only in America do black people feel moved to make such a statement.. I'm not sure if this is a sign of our strength or a symptom of our self indulgence and vanity.

Espn should wash Jemele Hill's mouth out with soap. Dove soap.

A city official in Peotone IL is being forced to resign for posting on facebook that he hopes all kneeling NFL players get career ending injuries. According to the local lib media you are not allowed to take a knee against those that take a knee against your beliefs.

They don't call the 70s The Decade Taste Forgot for nothing. Pretty blah when you consider the biggest thing was disco.

The 80s were fun, mostly because of Reagan.

But, yeah, things are real interesting now. Combine the late 60s and Reagan, toss in a whole lot of crazy, and that's the Aughties.

Instapundit had a post that said KISS stopped in the middle of a concert to have everyone say the Pledge of Allegiance. The accompanying comment was "Oh, to go back in time and tell my ten year old self that in the 21st century, a Kiss concert would be more patriotic than the NFL…"

YA Tittle died. Look for a melancholy post from Trooper.

I remember that picture of YA - that was yet another football player my father mentioned.

I didn't know who YA Tittle was but in looking him up found two articles I appreciated. They go beyond a melancholy post to capture and convey essence. When read in sequence they hark back to The Blood Picture and then move the goal posts to paint another picture of what an Ending, and more specifically a Good ending even in the face of dementia can involve.
