President Donald Trump said Wednesday that it is now his responsibility to resolve the humanitarian and political crisis in Syria as he opened the door to military action in the country.
Trump upped the ante in a Rose Garden press conference after having said earlier in the day that the the chemical weapons attack is a 'terrible affront to humanity.'
'My attitude toward Syria and Assad has changed very much,' Trump declared, suggesting with the statement that he may be reconsidering his directive to US diplomats to take their focus off removing Bashar al-Assad from power.
The 'horrible, horrible' sarin gas attack that killed small children and 'beautiful babies' had a 'big impact' on the president, who declared Wednesday that the attack 'crossed a lot of lines.'
'When you kill innocent children, innocent babies...with a chemical gas that is so lethal...that crosses many, many lines. Beyond a red line,' Trump said, making reference to Barack Obama's infamous 2012 threat to Assad.
This is a horrible, horrible mistake. It is indulging in the neocon delusion that worlds problems are our problems. It is a shame about the dead kids but kids are getting shot in Chicago every day. Now they have to wear bullet proof vests to go to school. We are not responsible for the ragheads killing each other. We don't need their oil anymore. When they are killing each other they are not killing Jews. We need to step back and let them get to it. If Russia wants to stick their dick in that zipper let them go right ahead. It is not any of our business.
I hope he comes to his senses and ignores this crap. Go back to tormenting CNN and talking about the babes they have banged with Bill O'Reilly.

I would tend to agree.
And he may let his BFF Vlad do just that. We really aren't ready to take on a commitment like that just now (I think he's well aware of that) unless there's a lot we don't know.
Of course, it may just be a gesture. The Lefties love gestures and pout if the opposition doesn't provide one. As far as we know, this is just a few words to keep the bleeding hearts cauterized.
YMMV
From the comments over there:
If Trump gets bogged down in another Middle Eastern war, and that's a big "if," his presidency will flail.
Not just "flail" but fail.
I'm not affronted. The world's a horror show. Do I even have to say always has been, always will be?
For the thousandth time: G. WASHINGTON WAS RIGHT.
It took 2 weeks to get to Europe, about 6 months to cross the continent, and 7 months to get to the Orient. Staying out of other people's business was easier then.
That doesn't even take into account the need to keep the sea lanes open.
It also didn't help T Jefferson when it became necessary to give the Barbary pirates a good smack.
I dunno; I didn't hear Trump say anything exactly about using military force. Rather he seemed to suggest he won't announce his military plans. One of the oddities about the Obama foreign policy was that he acted like he supported the UN, and then gutted all sorts of sanctions. Obama allowed resolutions against Israel, and really didn't do much to put teeth to UN resolutions against various other nefarious actors, well except Ghadaffi (after Ghadaffi pretty much made amends, cough cough). Perhaps Trump will pull for universal condemnation with teeth against Assad. After all, shouldn't Merkel be appalled by the use of chemical weapons?
we aren't letting Syrians in are we?
for humanitarian reasons - I think it would be awesome to take out Kim Jong-Un and the chinless Syrian leader.
how to do that is another matter.
Humanitarian reasons is why the UN was set up. Let it actually do its job for once.
The UN is a pack of leftist lawyers who hate Israel.
The UN - they don't stop wars, they litigate wars after the fact.
Who is the little fellow standing on the box?
The King of Jordan.
Welp, he's considering military action. I wish I cared enough to back such an idea. It's not that I'm concerned about chemical weapon use. I just wished some other signatories on the conventions on the use of such weapons actually stood up for what they signed up for.
Oh, I have heard of his almonds.
King of Jordan agreed with Trump btw.

Oh, you mean the United Nothing. Agreed. The UN is about as good as a tooth abscess.
