"Mizzou Assistant Professor Click Charged with Third-Degree Assault"

The University of Missouri assistant professor who angrily confronted and shoved a student videographer last fall during a campus protest is now facing third-degree assault charges. According to local media reports this morning, Steve Richey, Columbia's city prosecutor, is charging Melissa Click with the misdemeanor offense.

Click won national notoriety last November when she attempted to forcibly remove videographer Mark Schierbecker from the media-free "safe space" that was created by student activists and faculty for a #ConcernedStudent1950 protest. Possible penalties include a fine and jail time.

I feel assaulted just looking at her. May I sue?

I love this story. I bet she considers herself the victim.

April calls it: You need to get out, you need to get out, you need to step away from the kayak

Go to 6:25 in the video. I think it might be the same person. We never actually saw the kayak lady ....

lol how apt. I feel a little sorry for her, how it must burn to be a national ass. I think A.B. Stoddard on the Fox News Round Table said it best, sympathetically, (paraphrase), 'she got caught up in her five minutes of fame.'

oh, stop it, d. She doesn't deserve sympathy. The only thing she got caught in was the act ... of siccing goons on someone who had the temerity - not even to disagree with her views - but to photograph/film her fascist bullying tantrum. She knew it wouldn't hold up under scrutiny and she was right.

What can I say, I'm tender hearted :)

She's an adult. She's a professor in a position of leadership. She got caught up in acting out her rage and abusing power. She violated the right of another and is accountable for her behavior.

I seriously doubt her ability to feel burn over being a national ass. She could, however, express a sincere and public apology and offer to make amends. At which point my tender heart would feel for her.

Watching the video, it is the photographer who earns my sympathy and respect.

I love when these types are exposed for who they really are

I'd rather see her fired than in prison. No chance of either. If Bill Ayers can go free and gain tenure, then she's got no worries. This prosecution will give her a halo of glory and further her academic career. Colleges will get into a bidding war trying to acquire her services.

She should have been fired. That would be a more appropriate remedy than her being charged criminally.

I think a criminal charge against her is kinda silly. 3rd degree assault? Pretty tame stuff.

What should happen is MU should say this person will no longer be teaching.
