"(CNN) -- George Zimmerman never denied shooting Trayvon Martin, but he said he did so in self defense. Late Saturday night, a Florida jury found him not guilty in the teenager's death.
The verdict caps a case that has inflamed passions for well over a year, much of it focused on race.
The six jurors -- all of them women -- deliberated for 16½ hours. Five of the women are white; one is a minority.
When he heard his fate, Zimmerman had little visible reaction. He turned and shook the hand of one of his attorneys before sitting back down, smiling only after court was adjourned."
Please feel free to comment your reaction to the verdict.

I hope he is able to live a long time, but that will require that he has a safe place to live.
I expect Obama's regime will now begin civil proceedings as the race baiters demand their pound of flesh.
Only 40% of women are soap opera women, so perhaps they were outnumbered on the jury.
Sixty Grit,
I wondered the same thing, How long before he gets tried a second time for violating Trayvon Martin's civil rights?

So...when will the riots commence?
"Now where does he go to get his reputation back?"
No one can protect you from your fate. Whatever you think of Zimmerman he was engaging in some pretty high risk activity. I'm not at all saying he deserves to have his rep taken away, I'm just saying IMO some things can't necessarily be redressed.
All female jury. Poor George, he's doomed...oh wait.

James Belushi Robot says:
I Would Like to Clarify: My Commitment to the Scene Would Be the same if the President was Portrayed by Don Cheadle.
Actually, he was engaged in a rather low-risk activity. If we assume he was following the person he called the police about, both the police and neighborhood watch people -- called by the prosecution -- said this is normal, safe behavior. That, of course, requires you to assume he WAS following the kid, when even Jeantel -- another prosecution witness -- said Martin had evaded Zimmerman and was doubling back on him.
For all the concern over riots, if anything happened, it has been minor enough that I've only heard bits and pieces. Zimmerman was going to get death threats no matter how this ended; if I were him, I'd just finish my law suits against news media and anyone else I feel deserved a law suit, then get out of Florida and move somewhere else, anywhere else.
Meanwhile Trayvon Martin remains dead.
Does it matter?
A sad fact, yes, and one not to be made light of. His death is a tradgedy, as is the death of anyone.
But... had he not engaged in the risky behavior of doubling back and jumping Zimmerman, this might not in actuality be a fact, no?

Well, they are burning stuff and breaking windows in Oakland. But then, that is pretty normal for Oakland. Nothing special.
Wow--I am actually surprised by this verdict--I have to admit.
I actually decided to turn on Imus the other day--after not watching him for a long time.
Here is about the first thing he said--
"I haven't watched any of the trail and I haven't paid attention but--just out of common sense-- shouldn't he be found ...." (that's not a direct quote --I can't even remember it exactly but I understood the implication--Zimmerman should be found guilty of something--anything--out of "common sense".
I had to turn it off.
"Common sense" should tell you--if you haven't followed it--you really can't make any conclusions about it.
Trail =Trial
yikes!

I am always amused by the killer-protection-dog stuff Hollywood generates. Even protection dogs, real life ones, need to perceive a threat....I have never seen one ever just react with attack aggression from just a simple command. In working dog trials, the courage test is a long send outto stop an aggressor, but even then the agitator (aka "Helper") is behaving aggressively himself...waving a stick and yelling, etc. In Working Police dog trials, even with back bites and other measures, there is always a provocation phase. Dogs are smart. Like rhhardin said...*body language*, they exhibit it, and they read it too. I've never had one that I could just "sic" on someone who otherwise was behaving normally, even the ones that actually performed in real protection.
I make it a point not to use the word tragedy unless there's a king involved.
Maybe a salesman.
I agree. He was aware of a number of burglaries in his neighborhood lately which eventually gets violent if not stopped. He was part of the neighborhood watch, and he happened to be out on his way to the grocery store. He wasn't out patrolling the streets. I think it was his duty to do exactly what he did. I wish I had people like him in my neighborhood. I would have done the same thing, except I might be dead for it because it's near impossible for me to legally carry a gun in my neighborhood. It turns out he was in as much danger from his own government's politics as he was anything else.
For those who think Zimmerman brought this on himself, imagine one tiny detail changing but nothing else: in Zimmerman's wallet is a badge - he's an undercover cop. Trayvon is still dead, and everything else is the same, because the cause of the shooting was Trayvon's attack and reaction to Zimmerman. He had no idea who Zimmerman was. He could have been a cop, a mentally unstable person, someone doing something innocent that just looked like he was following. All would have had tragic consequences because Trayvon chose to get violent rather than talk or ignore. That was the only thing done by either man that was wrong or illegal in the entire incident, but it was very wrong, and very dangerous. You don't just attack strangers on the street, or you get what you deserve, and yes, once he physically attacked, he deserved what follows. That's just life in the real world.

Sorry Lem. I could not resist that one.
Zimmerman did kill a young man. Only George Zimmerman knows what happened. I believe Zimmerman's version, but there was always going to be problems for him. But what is most contemptible is how Crump, the media and government tag teamed him from early on. And apparently they are going to continue to try to bring him down. Not because it is right (the evidence showed the jury did the right thing) but because they can make political hay out of it.

Personally, I was impressed with Zimmerman. He took some personal responsibility for his neighbors. He was open and honest with the police right from the start, even before lawyering up. He showed them exactly what happened and where immediately. That may be naïve, but he knew he was innocent, and trusted the system. I was impressed by the fact that he had worked to defend a Black man from the police previously. It was demonstrated by the evidence in trial that he seemed to avoid racial prejudice. If you believe his story, and I do, then although armed, he chose to avoid confronting Martin, and waited for the police. He never brandished his firearm, and resisted even showing it until he was on the ground bleeding and Martin went for it. He might not even have used it if not for that. He was somber and respectful throughout, never lashing out at the people hating him, and accusing him with lies. Yes, I’m impressed with him. We need more young men like him. I’m glad being such a man was not punished for a change.

You know and I know what you are doing here is much more than that.
Althouse needs help.
She hurts others and she hurts herself. A lot of people have enabled that in a way.
Why does she do that to people and herself?
I wasn't present I was on vacation but the issue over Jessica Valenti, then what she did to Paul Campos, and then her shirking responsibility for being the only blogger ever to never directly confront Cedarford and to give him a home--no other blogger did that--and trust me Cedarford was at many of the same blogs together--Althouse was the only place where he was made to feel welcome by the proprietor and then eventually by the commentariat--an absolutely abysmal "achievement" and you were part of that.
I have testified in front of juries hundreds of times. I was a juror once. I have been involved in thousands of cases involving juries. Juries get bad raps, particularly thanks to the OJ trial. When I was in the deliberation room we took the evidence seriously, worked together, and came up w/ the right verdict. In the hundreds of times I've testified almost invariably, the jurors would focus on me like a laser beam and take notes. They would view the evidence I presented intently. And, in the vast majority of cases they would get it right.
The prosecutor in closing arguments pulled @ the heartstrings of these jurors. He talked about a mom not having a son to hold any longer. Five of the jurors were mothers. One cried. But, they put it aside because it was IREELEVANT! God bless this jury. And God bless our jury system.
The news reported a head-on tragedy on the local roads as well.

I agree. Well said. But Harry Reid said he hopes the feds press civil rights charges against him. Obama has not even given a statement yet, apparently polling on which way to go. It is not over for Zimmerman, not by a long shot.
Well said by bagoh20 and ndspinelli.
This judge was a minor leaguer on a national stage, just like Lance Ito. The prosecution had exculpatory evidence from Martin's phone in January. They didn't turn it over to the defense until just before the trial. I worked for a prosecutor's office. Exculpatory evidence is to be turned over IMMEDIATELY. Anyone who works criminal cases knows this. The judge ignored this unethical/illegal activity by the prosecutor and said "tough titty" to the defense. That was a travesty, but the jury made it right. Now, this judge can go back to being a defense oriented judge like I'm certain she always is. This was the last sweet deal for the prosecutor in her courtroom.

Mr. Spinelli, I hope you saw my comment last night about your wife's book. It's here
There is an art to picking a jury. We were once involved in a civil suit as plaintiffs. Picking the jury was probably the most interesting part. Questioning and trying to determine without really asking how they might feel about the case. One of the best questions that our attorney would ask at the very end, was "Do you have any bumperstickers on your car and what do they say?" It was very revealing. Sometimes the bumperstickers would tell you MORE about what the juror would be thinking than the answers to the carefully crafted questions.
We won btw.
That's Chief Justice Lance Ito.
Think Obama 2nd term.
Cedarford was useful as a commenter. He knows a lot of stuff. Just discount anything he says about Jews and read the rest.

I was sitting up front in a van with five other men driving back from Weld when this came on the radio and the driver said, "What? That lying son of a bitch!" The van exploded, to my shock they were all in agreement that Zimmerman is guilty, and in that disruption the driver averred as fact Zimmerman is a liar twice. I thought all of them smarter than that, they're absurd but they are smart, and for the life of me I cannot imagine the narrow stream of information within the flood of information rushing by, excellent information too, so much you have to skip to shut it out, so much information you must avoid it to survive and all of it says that he's innocent, what thin stream within that rushing flood could possible lead to that conclusion? That is what I thought in that moment in dismay, we had been perfectly silly all night and it was the most fun I had in a very long time and this ended it.
Goddamnit I hate it when I'm forced to be the professor and set a whole classroom straight. But in that awful moment it's like the Lord tells me to speak for goodness sake and I have to come way out of character for all that. My friends really are Fascist cunts and if they weren't so delightful and generous toward me I'd have nothing at all to do with them and that's how I would start out my lecture, and they were amazed that anyone could disagree, none of them could see it., the noisy group did fall silent at that. While I quietly spewed now that it's silent and everyone is listening to me. Just the salient facts as I know them. Spewed. That next moment went like this, calmly but firmly and with insistence:
spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew spew...
Delivered a bit of the flood. I spewed until they squeaked stop, we can talk about this later and I did stop and like a dog revert back to happiness as fast as a dog does, and isn;t that funny how facile dogs are? And we all reverted back that fast to the previous state before the announcement was given and by then were home, me first, which gives me a chance to hand over to the silliest most delightful person you're likely to meet, the silliest most ridiculous hummingbird feeder I have, and the van of people were gone.
Imagine what that silliest of all persons gave me for my birthday. I was not expecting anything, this whole deal was not for me. Guess. You'll never guess. A child's bubble making machine. It has a handle like a bucket or a purse and it chugs out soap bubbles, just a few Lawrence Welk bubbles and you're giggling like a loon, shut it off, shut if off. I could put it on the terrace when people are out there and have them wonder from other terraces where the bubbles are coming from.
This concludes my mixed-tense narration.

Well sometimes a commenter can say what the blogger doesn't want to make explicit. So they don't say anything about the outrageous things they say because they kind of agree with them.
That is possible with both your Cedarford and your Inga types.
Personally I went after Cedarford almost every time he posted and sometimes when he didn't. But then I kind of like Jewish people. Just sayn'
Zimmerman should write a book and donate the proceeds to a scholarship fund for minority children. That would be a step forward in reconcilliation. It may actually allow him to live to a ripe old age.
Do you live a sheltered life?
Blacks should take up a collection for poor whites. It would be a step into adulthood.

But if expend your very infrequent time in the comments batting around a poor sap like edutcher instead of going after Cedarford....well you are kinda saying something.
There are sins of omission as well as of commission.
Well at least that's what Ezra Klein told me. I think.
The ironic truth of the matter is that Zimmerman shooting Martin will probably save more young Black men's lives than all the race hustlers mouth work combined. In fact, that race baiting chattering work has probably cost a lot of Black men their lives, both literally and economically. Hopefully at least some young men of any race will think now before assaulting strangers on the street. That would be a good thing, no? That should be the message learned from Trayvon's unfortunate death. If not, then it was truly a waste.
Zimmerman didn't stop anyone, that's why he's innocent. Both men were free to never make contact, and Zimmerman wasn't trying to, but Martin wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted something more.
Trooper York makes an interesting point.
Althouse ignored C4 (which is fine with me, BTW) but being misunderstood by a commenter pissed her off enough that she made a ritual out of insulting edutcher.
Oxes gored an all that, I suppose.
I thought we all agreed that Geraldo was wrong about everything.
C4 was a left-wing moby or an Althouse hater. Or both.
Well they certainly needed you Meade - its a lonely job, "Fighting Racism".
Where I live, everyone does that. So most of their effort goes into finding some racism to fight. Needless to say, they find in it in the darnedest places.
Great post Chip. My liberal next door neighbor, remarked "I guess its now open season on young black men".
She's white by the way. And doesn't know any Negroes.
I think C4 was pretty much what he presented himself to be. He did it on a bunch of other blogs that I read that got him exiled. He wasn't exclusive to TOP. He just found a home there.
C4 was okay, we all have our prejudices, but he went over the top with blacks. He was intelligent and had a good grasp on international politics, etc.
But for those protesting, think back to the Althouse thread that had a picture of Michelle Obama standing behind Nancy Reagan seated at a dinner table in the White house. To top it all off, Michelle was wearing red and white. The title of the post? Make a Caption. And they were hilarious. Whadayagonna do?
bagoh, I tried twice to respond on that thread where you spoke of your mom but it wouldn't. This is a test to see if this thread is working.
Yes it is. Firstly, please call me Nick, shithead, dago, etc. The timing of you generous comment was so well timed. Our 14 year old Brittany Spaniel had a stroke last night. My son and I just finished burying Coco. Your comment brought the first smile to my bride's face today.
Your mom's positive attitude will be key in her licking this cancer. That's been proven scientifically. My prayers for your mom, your family, and the docs treating her. Tell your mom thanks, and she'll be reading the sequel in the Fall. Thanks much, bagoh.
he was engaging in some pretty high risk activity
What, like living in an ungated lower-middle-class neighborhood full of underwater townhouses and predatory burglars? One of the few things I'll not miss from the Althouse commentary days was the unchallenged arrogant assumptions of her liberal trolls like phx, who floated in an impenetrable haze of I-wish-well-therefore-I-am-worthy liberal privilege. You are, in your own way, as malignant and blameworthy as the Cedarford bigots of this world.
Nick--so sorry to hear about coco--I lost a dog that had to be put down. Madison Man--a commenter I always respected--sent me a wonderful note that said: someday you will find another dog; you will look in her eyes and see coco. That was a wonderful thought. And I believe it to this day.
The image of him weeping and futilely attempting CPR on the young man he had just mortally wounded will stick with me. He almost certainly knows what survivor's guilt is, and will live with it. I don't carry, don't even have a permit, but then, I live in a mostly white lower-class neighborhood in darkest Appalachia where I've never found it necessary. maybe I'm just scary-looking enough that it substitutes for the air of menace that the armed tend to carry with them, or that there's some quantitative difference between Zimmerman's type of neighborhood and mind, I can't know...
Maybe that's why I take political bumper stickers off my car within a week of any given election. I just don't care to have them there any longer than absolutely necessary.
You're assuming that he's got a book in him, or that he has the capital to hire a ghost-writer. He had a little college, and no indication that he's got the chops for a readable book.
BTW Nick--totally unrelated question for you. The Goalie on our West Point soccer team was Mike Spinelli--that would make him in his late 60s--Any relation?
The media attention to the George Zimmerman / Treyvon Martin event and the trial it led to mask a far larger issue: why young black men commit murder and violent crimes in far greater number than their percentage of the American population.
Using Chicago as an example, in the first six months of the year, 78% of the murder victims were black men killed by other black men, yet blacks are about 33% of Chicago's population.
The final few years of my work life took me into inner city grade, middle and high schools. I dealt with school officials, students, parents and police. Simply put: there is a generation, perhaps two generations, of young men and women for whom the concept of morals, of right and wrong, simply does not exist. Taking someone's life is seen as good if the victim looks at you in the wrong way, or says something you don't like, or wears the wrong shirt.
The gang life has replaced whatever was the family life. The only male role models are thugs. Beating and fighting others is taught from toddler age on up.
Until this problem is solved, and it can be solved only by people in the community, not by outsiders, society will continue to produce young men like Trayvon Martin: no purpose, gang-wannabe, happily violent, lost boys who to use violence to become "men".
And stupid people in the media and academia will continue to enable them.
Laurence Meade--If you have read my comments on the Professor's blog wherein I think that comments that attack your personal life are totally out of line. And I also believe it is was totally the professor's right to shut down the comments.
Lem seems to be quite forgiving about comments. But tell me Laurence--given the "optics" of the blogosphere, why are you posting here? It seems to me to bit untoward.
When I was a junior officer I served with General Creighton Abrams--he led the breakout at St Lo, he died of cancer while serving as the chief of staff of the army. His advice to junior officers was "never miss an opportunity to keep your mouth shut." You might want to contemplate that advice.
Roger, No relation. I had a cousin named Michael Ritchie, who is probably 65 now, who ran track @ West Point. There are a lot of Spinelli's out east. I never have to spell my name back there!
Roger, Thanks. It was tough on my kids and bride. I love dogs and loved Coco. But, a 14 year old dog who lead a great life, got to run in the woods every day, went quickly. I'm a bit more philosophical, but there was emotion also.
I think the jurors that will eventually speak will reveal that in the end the burden of proof that was on the prosecution was not met.
Lem--yep--and they are the only ones that heard exactly how it was presented.

I had to turn it off he got so whiney.
I use to love that show.
Laurence--In order to be congruent with my thoughts on the Professor's blog, Lem has absolute autonomy over his blog. He may do as he wishes--that's the same position I took with the Professor's blog (or Volokh or Instapundit or Talk Left)--Its their "house" and they get to define the rules.
I was only referring to the idea of optics: to be precise your relationship with the Professor, and your role as comment monitor. As I said--perhaps you should consider the "optics" of your involvement with a blog in which many of the commenters are refugees from a blog that many enjoyed for many years.
As to General Abrams advise? you really should consider it. And your last little snarky comment about his other minions? beneath contempt--the "minions" were combat veterans and professional officers. beneath contempt.
Really.
Well I will let everyone else decide.

When you live in a multi cultural, multi racial environment like NYC or grew up as I did in a very ethnically mixed area, the normal thing for kids and people to do is to make jokes with each other. Good natured ribbing about each other. You could tell when it wasn't good natured and that is a different story and those who were offensive, were called out on it. No one got offended at the good natured joking and you gave as good as you got. In fact if you weren't included in the kidding you felt left out.
Playing the dozens
It is only recently with the rise of overly politically correct attitudes and those tight assed people who are generally libs got in charge of the education system, that people are taught that they SHOULD get all bent whenever anyone says even the slightest things. People are now self segregating more than ever in the past when segregation was a cultural fact.
Some people just TRY to stir up animosity and make insults out of harmless joking and try to pit people against each other. If you want to discuss evil. That is it.
Cedarford is a bigot, but makes mostly accurate observations in his analysis.
Trooper is the humorous type of bigot that jokingly says racist things, like Lenny Bruce and that new comedienne to draw attention to how we're all human and in all this together. He is NOT being malicious.
Alhouse is bigoted against fat people (which royally pisses Trooper off).
Both Althouse and Trooper are bullies.
Ideally, we're headed to where we can jokingly make racist remarks, like on Scrubs where JD call his black friend Brown Teddy Bear. Or like the other day when I asked Crack if I could call him Crackerjack, and he said yes as long as I didn't ask to feel his hair..lol. I'd like to do a dozen to DBQ, but I'll have to think about it...which, I understand, defeats the purpose :)
I'd like to do a dozen to DBQ, but I'll have to think about it...which, I understand, defeats the purpose :)
I know!! I was never quick enough to do well in that game. The funniest one I ever heard and still makes me laugh.
"Your girlfriend is so fat..... If you tell her to haul ass, she has to make TWO trips."
You really are losing it Meade.
But you can call me a bigot all you want. I think everyone should decide for themselves. About who is a bigot and who is not. About who is a politically correct douchenozzle and who is not. It is up to them to decide for themselves.
Cause that's what bullies do.
It is nice that you are showing everyone what you are really like in these comments.
They can get a full measure of Meade that was hidden before.
I wonder how they like it.
In private life I'm sure she is kind and gracious, but 'at work,' she's out to make a name, and that requires picking fights now and then. Valenti was off the chart.
I understand completely Troop's mean streak, as do his best buds. But he's not hate-filled, in general, but he does loathe Althouse, an possibly me.
(I had thought Mom Jeans was Sixty.)
Why would I want to do that?
People can express themselves here if they so choose. I did just ask them. Let the people speak.
Or do you want to moderate the comments here too?
I was around Althouse long enough to know Meade as a commenter first, and he was a great commenter then and he's continuing to be a feisty commenter here, which is great since I don't think we'll see Althouse hereabouts.
He's direct and he's supportive of the people he appreciates. He has a sharp wit for those who disagree with him.
Which makes it frustrating that so many here have developed a sort of Hatfield-McCoy feud thing. "You insulted my kin so I have to go and shoot your wife." People who are pretty much the same in personality excuse their own behavior then get all worked up when someone does the same sort of thing. Ban commenters! Evil! Until a commenter offends me! Then it's fine.
Which makes sense all around in order to keep decorum. And turns the sharp wit into a strange war. Between people who, on both sides, used to help make it a fun place to comment, adding their own flavor and experiences to the mix. Now everyone's fighting and I don't know table to sit at.
There's teams and ambushes, and family loyalties and, and if we're not careful Inga's and Edutchers kids are going to fall in love, get married, then die tragically.
Nobody wants that to happen.
Hardly. Buchanan likes Palin for one thing.
I think Meade is OK to comment here. He was decent to other commenters on Althouse, and he answers emails decently.
I'd suggest he start a charity for Hispanics. What about a Hispanic Defense fund?
Paddy nobody is asking you to pick a side. Or at least I am not.
It is just that like minded individuals have come to the same conclusions. On both sides. But nobody has to join in. Lem hasn't and he can show the way.
We all have strong opinions and like to express them in the most colorful and persuasive way we can. That is the nature of the internets.
You make the call.
President Mom Jeans is a totally different person as is Sixty Grit. Some people can not comprehend how many people have come to the same conclusion so they think they have to be the same person.

More advice: look up the word minion.
Holy homophonia! Meade whips out the old "filet mignon" slur!
"We all have strong opinions and like to express them in the most colorful and persuasive way we can. That is the nature of the internets."
That's the internets I love. And I pick sides for sure, but when folks whose side I sort of share pick their own sides it makes the web just a little bit sadder. The tubes start weeping.
Everyone has so many sides it starts getting in the way of the main dish, or something like that. Now I'm hungry.
Ok, I'm getting somewhat used to the "nesting" thing. But its still weird.
ndspinelli and Roger J. ... damn, losing a dog, especially one of 10 years plus, is crushing, at least to me me and when I hear of it for others I dam near cry. When rhhardin faces that eventuality, it will hurt as much as losing "Ari" did for Judi and I. You see enough photos of a dog you get an idea about the owner too. We still have "Dera" and we decided to let her be top dog and only dog until that time, again. She really is special and not 1 in 100 German Shepherds is even close to her in temperament around children.
I am very sorry for anyone who loses a dog. Or a horse. People ....meh. I am weird that way. "Coco" will still be with you, just as Roger J has quoted MadisonMan saying...when you look in to the eyes of a new pup, or a sunset or sunrise, or anything you both related to...if it didn't happen that way I'd long ago have died myself.
That makes sense.
But the sides are drawn a little differently than I think you remember.
But your mileage may vary.
Meade, boy have you got the Trooper here pegged. Spot on.
Meade...I don't believe you said that. But you did. Roger J is one of the least mystic of the commenters here or anywhere. I was a "minion." I know I'm biased, but minions, aka junior officers and NCO's, which I was, run the Army and Marine Corps and General Abrams was one of the last, similar to Lt General Harold Moore and General Peter Pace, who really knew that. In combat there are no "minions" there are only troops and marines.
Laurence--you most certainly are not an idiot--but even protégés is wrong word--Sychopants would probably be the best--but General Abe did suffers fools wisely. And Laurence--apology accepted--No probemo sir.
...a sort of Hatfield-McCoy feud thing...
Bah. Only a dew are that obsessed. You all know who you are, and it is your privilege...but don't be offended if we all don't chime in, etc. My opinion from day # 2 of the "vacation" was to drop it. The old community forum is dead and gone. I think Lem and/or Icepick, EBL, and others, can manage a conversant community. I, for one, will contribute as necessary to any of them if asked, as I did with Althouse and do with Legal Insurrection, which offers a PayPal "subscription" which makes it easy. I am aware and respect those who provide a forum and expect to support it. period. I am not good enough to produce my own, and seldom contribute to small the group-blog I am part of, for the same reasons.... a foreign service officer in south Asia or a DOD soul in Africa have far more to inform that I ever will these days. I know what was, I want to know what is ....
Why is Trooper York commenting here so often? Doesn't he have his own blog with his own followers? Or is he trying to manipulate kind hearted Lem?
Yes, keep your guard up around this person. He has a major jealousy problem. He was even jealous of the attention his wife received instead of him on his wife's television show. He has been jealous over Althouse's success as a blogger for years. There were blog wars between him and Althouse in the past. I recall at least two major ones. York probably thinks I am a commenter he misused and abused, but he would be quite shocked to know who I really am. He had a shakeup over on his private blog not too long ago. He lost some of his finest commenters. Buyer beware.
Some people are obsessed with Mountain Dew.
That is very true.
I think the technical term for them is "Althouse Hillbillies."
(Haven't heard that one for a while)
Is that you Titus?
Sorry I had to ban you but you know why I did.
Oh and by the way....happy birthday.
As far as I'm concerned, there is no feud. Trooper York knows what his role was in destroying the comments at Althouse. It would be a shame if he were to manage to do the same here at Lem's. Not because comments are so important. They're not.
Trooper has a teeny weeny widdle biddy hog. He showed it to me once and I told him thanks but no thanks, I have my husband. And titties should be on women, not men. Gross.
The smokescreen continuous. The comments the last few days were no worse then on many other contentious issues. The problem is that Althouse decided to turn on the Instapundit and his wife because of her jealousy of her success. Yes their jealousy which they are so quick to call everyone else on is the reason for the comments ending. The pushback was too strong from many quarters and they shut it down hoping it will blow over. That is what happened. Plain and simple.
You took the opportunity to oppress Zimmerman when it was there, and now that it's gone, you want to say you are oppressed. Man up, loser. You lost. And you deserved to lose. Now, stop acting like a loser. If you can. (I bet you can't!) - El Pollo Rayon.
This is the first time I've ever talked about the Zimmerman case online. But don't be afraid to continue saying what you want about me without regard to the truth.
I don't see how that anti-Trooper rant (and the continued anti-Trooper comments you have going on in multiple threads) helps the atmosphere around here, Meade. At Lem's place. Lemhouse.
I'm not defending Trooper. I'm just saying, some of your own comments (along with the "Anonymous" who keeps egging you on, loving the fight, oh-so-sanctimoniously pouring gasoline) isn't helping things. YMMV. Can't speak for others here, but I find all the sniping tiresome. Can't we *all* get a vacation from that?
Of course, you're not the only one engaged in sniping here, you're far from the worst. (And I understand you perceive yourself as defending Althouse. But IMO this goes beyond that.) I guess I just expect much better-- expect the best-- from you. Because I've always really liked and respected you.
And don't trust Chickie wickie either, he and Trooper are secret lovers.
And online or off line, I never once said whether I believed Zimmerman was innocent or guilty. Never.
I should so tell their wifeys.
And I could beat Chickie wickie's pimply butt.
How do we know that's really Meade ?
Spideysense.
We don't know if that is Meade, but it sounds tedious enough to be Meade. Trooper York destroyed the comments at Althouse? Really? Wow, that Trooper York has a lot of power over you to be able to do that.
How does that make you feel?
Small?
Tiny?
Tits.
For crying out loud!
Lem posts a topic about Zimmerman and everyone decides to start picking scabs on old wounds.
Meade is here stirring the shit and trying to drive traffic back to Althouse. Doesn't he have anything better to do????
Anonymouses are dropping itty bitty turds everywhere. Personal vendettas and feuds are cropping up YET again. The same old crap that shit all over Althouse's blog. Lem is trying to run a nice place here people......take it OUTSIDE as they would say in my younger bar hopping days :-)
Come on people, we are better than this.....(in my best school marm voice). Or as my parents would say on one of our thousand mile car trips to me and my brother....."Don't make me stop this car and come back there!!"
I think Meade is OK to comment here.".
Now wait a minute. I had to endure all manner of sexual depredations, go through a rectal exam and climb a 20 foot rope all the way to the top without smiling to get in here, and he just walks right in? To hell I say! He's not even wearing the mandatory home-made epaulettes, and beaver skin beret. Are we gonna start dropping the standards already with commenters out of uniform and people just milling about unsupervised? I have chocolate milk and pizza in the refrigerator marked with my name on it, and if it gets sucked on, I want money from everyone in here to replace it.
I'm tired of this shit!
phx, not sure if you noticed, but Pollo was riffing on (pretty much quoting, filling in a few variables) Althouse's (infamous) words there.
So I wouldn't take that comment too personally.
Nice to see you here, by the way.

phx, I just (a minute ago) addressed you about this above.
Hey, hi.

Nice to see you as well yashu.
You're one of those people here that make me feel like the guy in the movie who said "You make me want to be a better person."
It kind of makes me feel like a super villain or something.
