Ah, the old "Welles goes crazy over Frozen Peas" outtake.

Good stuff.

I always thought the rant was over frozen beans.

But I must have been thinking about Orson Bean.

Now I'm wondering if the two Orsons ever appeared on the same TV game show at the same time.

I much preferred the Pinky and The Brain take..

(Pinky and The Brain
being one of my ALL-Time fave cartoon series..)

The Pinky and the Brain version was called "Yes, Always" and originally appeared on Animaniacs. It has one edit in the rant, because children's cartoons in the 1990s didn't much care for blow job references. (I have no idea how such things go these days.)

Here's "Yes, Always" for comparison.

Great ending to the cartoon.

Here's William Shatner . . . well . . . fuck, I don't know what to say about it except you can't look at the video to which I just linked -- you have to just listen -- and you have to mentally tune out Howard Stern and whatsername --they're both yammering imbeciles -- but . . . my God . . . the whole interaction between William Shatner and some hapless third assistant to the first deputy under-secretary is just flat our painful.

Oh, and educational, too, which is why I've performed this public service.

Enjoy, if you can.

My daughter is a nanny for 2 girls, 4 and 2. They love eating frozen peas. We keep our walnuts and pistachios in the freezer. Eating them frozen is good and they stay fresh forever.

One of my favorite recordings. I use so many lines from that in casual conversation.

"Impossible! Meaningless!"

"In the depths of your ignorance, what is it you want?"

"He said it. Your "friend"."

"There's too much directing around here."

"Crumb, crisp coating."

"Unrewarding."

"Here under protest is beef burgers!"

"Come on, fellas, you're losing your heads!"

"The right reading for this is the one I'm giving it!"

"You are such pests!"

"This is a lot of shit, you know that?"

The animation could have been better. Orson would have been a lot more physically animated when saying some of those lines. Also, I believe that he was watching a TV monitor that was displaying the visuals while he was doing the voice-over. It makes more sense if you imagine him watching snow-covered fields and a big dish of peas.

Amusingly, Findus, the company for which Welles was doing these commercials, was in the news recently for putting horsemeat in their products.

I've used "come on, fellas, your losing your heads" on various sites (including TOP more than once) and no one ever has a clue what I'm referencing.

You're, not your. Damn you autocorrect for not fixing something that needed fixing.
