A tale of two cities.... Us vs them.

Most of the conservative media has been highlighting the difference between what Trump and Biden did yesterday. Trump went to the wake of the slain police officer and Biden was lifting his skirt to get some money for his campaign. The left-wing corporate media has rabidly defended Biden because of the horrible optics. They cite the Capital Police and the fact that Trump did not go to the funeral of the cop who died after January 6th. Which sort of points to a dilemma that I have with law enforcement.

Now of course I support Law and Order. Not the commie TV series. Or necessarily the cops. They have proven to be the minions of the deep state. I never thought regular cops would crack down on regular people at the behest of the Deep State. The pandemic proved me wrong. They went into churches. Businesses. Enforcing the edicts of an out-of-control bureaucracy that used fake science to subjugate the masses. They closed churches and schools and businesses that would not comply. The Capital Police who murdered Ashlee Babbitt was just the tip of the iceberg and the most egregious example of the jackboot of the police on the throats of normal Americans like me.  I find it impossible to give them my unquestioning support these days.

Look nobody wants cops to be murdered.  Nobody wants people exercising their First Amendment rights to be murdered either. Well, except for the media and the democrats and every fuckin' liberal in this country.

I know all about the cops. Many of the guys I grew up with became cops. Two of my nieces are cops. My uncle was a cop. Cops are lazy without exception. They want to do as little as possible and to protect their pension at all costs. Even more now than ever since every jerkoff with a cell phone is looking to get them in a jackpot. So community policing is out the window. When every second counts in a crime situation the cops are only hours away. So give it a rest conservative commentator.

Trump did the right thing. The family asked for him and he came to pay his respects. Fair enough. Biden is a greedy corrupt fuck. So what's new? All of this don't mean shit in the long run.

Seriously.

Well, something means something in the long run, past all the drama and opinions of the Right and Left, Conservatives and Liberals. What is it? What matters? What lasts?

This being Easter weekend, I'll quote from the Good Book and hold out Faith, Hope and Love as the three things that outlast the grave, with the greatest of these being Love.

And what's Love comprised of? My old favorite, Grace and Truth. Which can still be found in all sorts of odd people in strange places

“To be a human being among people and to remain one forever, no matter in what circumstances, not to grow despondent and not to lose heart — that’s what life is all about, that’s its task.”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Letters of Fyodor Dostoevsky to his family and friends

Hard to do.

Since Jan, I've been participating in an online creative arts forum where political opinion isn't in the forefront. I've been surprised and amazed by the amount of inspiration I receive from the works, ideas and humor shared there, when chances are good deeper conversations regarding convictions would lead to division. I'm thankful for the distance that connection allows during what I consider to be disturbing and troubling times of dissonance, conflict and change.

Cops started turning into politicians' private armies with Willie's "Ah'm gon' put 100,000 more cops on the street", with all the bean-counting that accompanied it, so the old standbys - whites, males, Micks, Eyeties - went by the boards.

I think 9/11 was their last stand. Troop can verify.
