No more veal for me. Not for a while. Right now, the Omicron virus is working its way around our table, with the 4 of us all experiencing symptoms that started to show up on Sunday, first in the younger sonM who's had most public exposure. At this point, it involves a low-grade fever, headache, body aches, a dry cough, lethargy, and for me a huge dose of anxiety. We've all started in with Ivor and believe we may be seeing some improvement. I'm the third one to have it come one this weekend after two years of distancing and avoiding exposure to the other two strains. With MrM's cancer diagnosis and my severe immune response issues (SJS syndrome), neither of us felt we were good candidates to receive the experimental vaccine.
For as fast as this has spread among us (we were in contact for dinner only on Friday) I wonder if getting the jab would have done any good or we'd still be going through this anyway? It's an odd set of symptoms. Not the same as the respiratory colds and flu we've had before. At this point the aching and lethargy are the worst, and I HATE fever dreams. We're up on our Vit D, Quecertin, Zinc and C, which allows me to rest with the fact that we've done what we could to be ready to cope without compromising ourselves further.
In the men-can-be-a-pain-in-the-ass-too category, I had the Ivor from India all laid out on our buffet for MrM to take and he decided while I was sleeping to rummage around and help himself to a double dose of the ones I'm taking that were specifically compounded for me in New York last October. He appears to be oK, however, maybe due to his horse-like constitution, which is stronger than mine! Thankfully veal and pink bananas have not yet made their way into my bizarre dreams.
My sympathies on you and your husband's medical issues. In the world of syndromes, I have Cushing's (born with it) and Sjogren's, and I can just imagine what SJS is like.
And, yes, you are well-advised to stay away from the shot. All manner of weird things are up, so you don't want anything that messes with your DNA.
Take care and remember with Valentine's Day, the worst of winter is over.
Good luck working through this. I don't know how they can call this a vaccine as it doesn't seem to prevent anything. How long are the symptoms supposed to last?
