I have, on what I would term passenger ships, and I enjoyed those experiences very much. I won't however, sign up for a trip on one of the gigantic floating highrise hotels pictured here that are part of the current fleet of cruise ships.

The amount of damage was impressive.

The captain of the Carnival Glory also confirmed an investigation into the cause of the accident, which the company currently believes was due to “spontaneous wind gusts and strong currents.” They're referring to it as an allision as opposed to a collision (seeing as one of the ships was not actually moving at the time).

My first cruise we took on Royal Caribbean.

You could hear the Carnival one all the way across the harbor.

This happened in Cozumel, where we just visited. Cozumel is a very popular stop for cruises. There are some days 8 ships in port. They flood this little island w/ frantic cruisers looking for the Mexican experience. Sunday is a day of rest for the island. Only 1 ship in port. All the locals come to the town square w/ their families. Very pleasant.

We were last in Cozumel in 1993. Since then the island has been inundated w/ scooters. Locals own and use them and companies rent them to tourists. It's almost as bad as Rome.
