That poor overburdened camel! I've heard they're kind of assholes, the camels, like the mules of the desert but with super-spitting action, but I really can't fault this one. The handler should have known better.
A lot of attitude says it all, particularly in a camel whose fate appears to be that of carrying two people of varying sizes around for a ride on a routine basis. While it looks like his legs won't hold it could also be that he doesn't appreciate more work than he's used to handling.
According to what I read, they can carry up to 1000lbs and are more comfortable with loads of around 350.

Thereafter, it chewed on the neck until the head was separated from the body. It took 25 villagers about six hours to calm the angry camel down."
