I missed the feast of San Genaro so I made sausage and peppers on the grill at home.

So a local parish is having a San Genaro feast this past weekend and we thought we might go. Now it will not be like the old fashioned feasts I remember from when I was a kid. They might have a few sausage and peppers and zeppole carts but a lot of the old stands will be missing.

You won't have the gold fish bowls where you threw a ping pong ball into the bowl and you got a goldfish in a plastic bag in water. You would run home and put it in the macaroni pot with tap water and wake up the next day to see it floating dead on the top of the water. It gave a young child a glimpse into how fleeting life could be.

The won't have the casino games like roulette and blackjack that church would be running in the back room with the suspiciously high buy in that wiseguys in the neighborhood would run. That's a thing of the past.

We decided not to go because there is not anything Lisa can eat and not anything I am allowed to eat. So we decided to stay home and I grilled a sausage ring with parsley and cheese, I fried up some onions and garlic and added some roasted peppers. Then I took the sausage ring off the grill and cut them up and put them in the pan to adsorb some flavor.

We enjoyed it and best of all it is gluten free.

Now I am feast free.

You are not feast free if you are having sausage, onions, and peppers. That is one of the best things they served at the Feast.

Well if you can still eat sausage, onions and peppers you're not exactly deprived.
