What's with the pledge at the beginning.You have to speak the poem they want you to speak.It sure isn't my culture. The crowd was already attentive and respectful, no need for a pointless ritual to get them to shut up and pay attention, as there is in school.
I skipped that. Elsewhere a viewer said she hadn't head the pledge in thirty years and it moved her deeply.
