KLEM FM

Well, it is his song after all. I first went looking for the Stone Pony's version and his popped up after I broadened my search. I was looking for some link to the Indian drummer and the ongoing effect that agent is having on the Democrat Party. I didn't quite find that. Yet

Watching Nesmith sing this song is like hearing Jerry Jeff Walker sing "Mr. Bojangles." Or Bob Dylan play "All Along The Watchtower."

The song is bittersweet breakup song, and Nesmith shows that it doesn't "belong" to either sex. There's a pony in there somewhere. I just know it.

All Along the Watchtower by the Playing for Change project, assisted by Lakota Singers and Dancers.

I saw Linda Ronstadt and the SPs perform that song in '68 or there abouts, at Hood College in Fredneck Maryland. The stage was only 1 foot tall and just barely big enough to hold the band. It was an outdoor daytime show in the middle of the campus and one could wander right up to the performers. So I did. I was about 3 feet away from Linda back when she was still cute.

Funny thing is, they didn't have enough material for a whole show, so they opened and closed with that song. Hmm, how about learning some other tunes, guys?

I liked Nesmith's flick, Repo Man.

Me too, Nick. Some of those phrases and lines will never go away. It helps that I've watched it umpteen times.
