You are fortunate, CL, that you were too young to endure the onslaught of the great folk scare as it unfolded in real time. Who knew that group was the launching pad of such folks as Kenny Rogers, Gene Clark or Barry McGuire? I sure didn't, and I was there.

The candles and wreath look great, I especially like the way the wreath frames the muntins - well done, mon frère.

At about the 25 sec mark there is a woman in a maid's uniform standing on the Titanic's grand staircase.

I just had to throw that out there.

I like Christy Minstrels version of Too drunk to fuck.

I like it. Sometimes do you turn on the all-Christmas music station on the FM dial? I do. I'd rather hear risty Minstrels than George Michael or maraih Carrey.

I thought that was the DK's? It charted in the UK, much to the BBC's horror.

Factoid: The original Christy Minstrels were a blackface troupe.

Very pretty, chick. How did the staircase turn out?

"Size up the Fruitcake!"

Once again, more of that 60's peppiness, accompanied by a strange collection of pics in the video. Following the shot of the grand staircase, there's Santa dropping dolls in the snow while a young girl in a window below watches him blunder around with the toys, something like a large chihuahua cat sitting on the roof watching lights being strung and wonder of all wonders, at the second mention of Carols (1.35) there's that Mama from the Mama's Family show mentioned earlier sitting at the Spinet! Small world, with the older Christy Minstrels not appearing any leaner, but looking blondly and baldly happy to be alive.

My bride and I watch Lawrence Welk on PBS most Saturdays.

How is Lawrence Welk like a 5 cent cigar?

We're in need of a good one? Like a little Christmas.

Well, I put the balusters up shiny white as original because we needed them. But not a day goes by when I don't think "those balusters need to be flat black." My wife agrees. We will get to it eventually. Thing is, it's a problem to throw money at and not just time because I don't have the space/expertise to strip and power coat them.

I should do a blogpost on my gunmetal gaspipe shelving. That turned out cool pretty much the way I wanted. There was a chemistry lesson lurking as well.

Please do...and one of the staircase? I was about to suggest a tag, but did some research first...this one needs a 'home project' tag, maybe?

They are both pieces of shit with a band wrapped around them.

I'll be here all week.

"Welk" means flaccid or limp, in German.
