"Carl Bernstein calls for 'different kind of reporting' to take on 'malignant presidency'"

Via Drudge:  Carl Bernstein is calling on journalists to commit to a "different kind of reporting" in response to a "malignant presidency" unlike any the country has seen before.

"We're in foreign territory," Bernstein said Friday on CNN's "New Day."

He added, "We have never been in a malignant presidency like this before. It calls on our leaders, it calls on our journalists to do a different kind of reporting, a different kind of dealing with this presidency and the president."

An objective look at how reporters cover Trump would already confirm what Bernstein is calling for here.

Most reporters dont cover Trump the way they covered Obama.

A has-been who never was really much of a was.

"We have never been in a malignant presidency like this before".

He must have missed the last 8 years. Or the 90s. Or WWI.

"It calls on our leaders, it calls on our journalists to do a different kind of reporting, a different kind of dealing with this presidency and the president".

He must mean the way the media covered Franklin Roosevelt, Jack Kennedy, Willie Whitewater, the Mocha Messiah, and Joe Stalin.

Reporters do need to do something different, but following Bernstein's advice will squander the 30% trust they have left.

It's hard to believe but The Establishment - and Bernstein is Establishment if he's nothing else - is seriously contemplating trying to remove Trump on the charge of mental instability. That's what the malignancy and mental state talk is preparing the ground for. In a way I hope they try it and suffer the consequences. That pesky 2nd Amendment.

I don't think we need to invoke 2nd Amendment. We already have the Goldwater rule to ruin the career of any would be "professional" that tries to aid the movement. Besides, if you were looking at various politicians, trying to identify one that is malignant and seems to be losing mental faculty; I think Nancy Pelosi would top the charts.

Meanwhile, for all the complaints about Trump, he still enjoys a 2:1 advantage in trust when compared to the media. And recent evidence is that polls have a liberal bias. It is not a time to bear arms; it is a time to point and laugh.

Don't say you love me when it's just a rumor. Don't say a word if there is any doubt. Sometimes I think that love is just a tumor. You've got to cut it out.

McCain: Challenge! I don't think 'integrious' is a real word. Yatzee! Advance to Boardwalk!!

Pelosi: But who is left? I can't go out there. My botox is leaking. EPA Hazmat all in my biz.

Schumer: ...I got it! Carl Berstein!

McConnell: Isn't he dead? And why does it smell like stale cat puss in here?

Even Scott Adams who is usually supportive is saying Trump went over the line, sophomoric he called the CNN gif- you can check it at Drudge by the way.

Oh, for pete's sake. Who the heck cares about what Carl Bernstein thinks? I haven't for at least 25 years.

Is Carl Bernstein known for anything besides working to bring down Republican Presidents? I'm serious. The guy's obituary should consist solely of the statement "he worked tirelessly to bring down Republican Presidents."

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

Be fine with me if the old turd was closing in on that obituary.

Bernstein certainly has a less interesting Wiki bio than Woodward does. Apparently, Bernstein has never left nor lived outside the DC metroplex. That explains some of his visceral hatred for Washington outsiders. Also, I learned what a cad he was to his second wife. Like Trump, he's on his third.

Trump should label Bernstein a "has been" on Twitter. That'll learn him.

The Lefties have been going over the line for better than 100 years.

You don't beat them by being a gentleman.

As a great Hibernian tactician once observed, "They pull a knife, you pull a gun. they send one of yours to the hospital, you sent one of their to the morgue".

The malignant media needn't report on this. So why do they? Because the audience that they care about (themselves and people like them) loves to hear this stuff. Like a fat kid loves cake. They eat it up! But we're the deplorable rubes. Riiiiigghht.

One of the boring go-to fake arguments is that Trumptweets detract from coverage of Trump accomplishments. Like but for Trumptweets we'd all be hearing positive stuff about Trump. BULLSHIT. They'd be busy finding some other way to undermine him. So the Trumptweets actually distracts them from that effort (that's a positive) and no one who hasn't already taken to the fainting couch over Trump cares.

"From there it is not much of a jump to see that the unthinkable -- a generation ago -- has happened. That we have another president and presidential cadre -- men and women, this time -- who believe that they are above the law, that the unique circumstances of their presidency and "the enemy" justify acts that violate the constitution and the laws of this country; that consistent lying and mendacity and misinformation and disinformation -- so routine as to use the same techniques from New Orleans to Baghdad -- are acceptable."

- Bernstein on Bush.

He's crying wolf again.

Carl Bernstein is the very face of the out-of-touch-with-America journalist.

Bernstein should FOAD. Soon.

The Abe Rosenthal quote from that piece is priceless: "I don't care if you f*ck elephants in your spare time, but then you can't cover the circus for The Times.

Oh, CARL! Reliving old glory days, I see, you grotesque rotten silly old fossil. The vengeful deep state made your career to bring Nixon down; it had nothing to do with intrepid reporting about exceptional mendacious abuse of power and everything to do with Mark Felt Wronged. The lying and mendacity and misinformation and disinformation certainly neither started nor stopped with Nixon. (See, e.g., Carter, Clinton and Obama.)
