What double standard is ridiculous and needs to be ended?

Reddit top rated comments...

Filling your resume with bullshit and fluff is considered unacceptable and grounds for termination if discovered.
Filling a job posting with bullshit and fluff is considered standard operating procedure.

When you work for someone you have to come in to work on time everyday with severe consequences if I don't, but your paycheck being late is only met with "oh it's not our fault you'll get it someday."

The NCAA making money hand over fist off of "student-athletes", but the second the athletes try to make money off of their own name, they get immediately punished. I get the argument against pay-for-play but why can't athletes monetize themselves? Any other student can.

That a dad watching his kid(s) alone is babysitting. Fuck you. It's parenting just the same as when mom does it.

When my party's questionable activities are leaked, the issue that we need to focus on is the fact that there was a leak and that's the real crime. When the other party's questionable activities are leaked, we need to focus on the content of the leaks, because focusing on who leaked the content is a distraction. Both major U.S. parties say have this attitude, and it's really obnoxious.

I've actually heard one of my girlfriend's friends proudly say:
'Women are allowed to have double standards, men aren't.'
Sassy head posture and all.

You can no shit on grass but dogs do it all the time where the equality.

What planet does this delusional person live on? What do you think the ratio is between number of times late to work vs number of times your paycheck was late? I've been producing paychecks for over 30 years and received them for decades before that, and never had a singe payday not happen on time either way. In all those years, I bet there was not a single day when everybody showed up on time where I worked.

Here's one. The hack press falls all over themselves to destroy Trump.

What they really do is out embedded Israeli spies, and probably get them killed.

I'll take that as a compliment.

By the way "AprilApple" was one of the bestest screen names ever. Too bad you gave it up.

Rabel, I won't miss those crazy eyes on your old avatar. Reminded me of a crazy lady that used to stalk us here.

Who was that person in the old avatar?

How about the one that killed Roger Ailes?

Willie Whitewater, the Chap of Quiddick and his pal, the Friend of Angelo, as well as the rat-faced civil rights hero of San Diego made a career of it.

I have yet to see any of them suffer (unless you count Teddy Kennedy's brain tumor, which The Blonde says is an awful way to go).

The crazy lady was one of Manson's girls. She dead now, I think.

The horrible movie, Popeye, sucked because the flick was directed by the incredibly overrated Robert Altman, and everyone on the set was snorting massive amounts of coke. That was also the problem w/ the mother of all bombs, Heaven's Gate.

Popeye was awesome. Were DBQ here she would use her favorite quote "He's large!"

And I would laugh.

But she is not, so I won't.

When rape in popular culture is seen as the most horrid of crimes, except if we are talking about male rape in prison- then it is seen as something to joke about. I don't get that.

I've always seen male rape in prison as horrific, and I have never joked about it.

Just one--one!!!!--example online (way, way back then, as a result of my having a problem with the notion, even, for at least 20 years before I posted that comment):

We should criticize medieval thinking and behavior everywhere we see it...including within our own borders, cultural institutions, and government.

I agree with this. (I have done exactly that, and in comments threads on this very blog.) It's an "and," not an "or."

JohnTaylor88: You are off-base regarding Simon. He neither advocates prison rape, nor thinks its OK.

There have been commenters on this who have done so, and who apparently do think it's OK (or did), but Simon wasn't one of them.

You're throwing out ad homs and strawmen.

Oh--and don't even think about saying "Reader_iam thinks prison rape is OK and doesn't denounce it." Because I've got open in my browser examples of my denouncing it, and people who defend it, in no uncertain terms--here on this very blog.

FWIW, and I suspect it's not worth much, I've been calling out about males being raped and how that ought to be looked for, to repeat myself, for way many years before the Internet became a real thing.

The other FWIW--and, again, I suspect it's not worth much--in my experience, over the past 35ish years, it's mostly been men, not women, in terms of this particular, specific, issue, who have more often pooh-poohed the concept of males being raped, and in terms of male-on-male rape, especially with regard to prison conditions, have invoked as appropriate revenge. And by "invoked it," I mean casually, in conversations both casual and serious. Women have a lot to answer for. Feminists have a lot to answer for. Radical feminists with serious hypocrisy issues have an astounding amount to answer for. But not with regard to this issue. Rapes of males have largely been minimized by MEN, not women.

It's on you guys, not us gals.

Men joke about males being raped, and especially though not exclusively with regard to males being raped in prison by other males, WAY, WAY more than women do the like.

I must confess that I'm wondering: Is Jim in St. Louis old and in denial, or young and ignorant of the reality of history? Or just all about, always, blaming everything on women?

In my reading of the comments Jim in St Louis has added to Levity in the last several years, I haven't experienced him as anything other than thoughtful, sincere, relevant and relational, rcommal.

Regardless, the Libtard's cellmates should be made aware that he is a child molestor so they may handle him accordingly.

That is, he should be raped and beaten up throughout his sentence. In this way, Fen might adjudge things being set even and aright.

I'd bet tons of bucks that Sarah Palin herself wouldn't agree with Fen's idea of remedy: Regardless, the Libtard's cellmates should be made aware that he is a child molestor so they may handle him accordingly.).

I'd bet even more tons of bucks that in no way would Sarah Palin advocate extralegal violence among prisoners as a way to set things even and aright. I suspect she'd find that notion appalling (for starters).

Jesus, Fen: If you want to deputize inmates to mete out extralegal punishments (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), do it openly and honestly. Go run for office--openly and honestly--on that platform somewhere.

In the meantime, consider whether it's such a great symbol of loyalty to Sarah Palin--for starters--to peddle that sort of sneaky, preening bullshit.

If you don't follow the link, by the way, and then say there's no way for you to have differentiated what the other commenter said and what I said in response (because I didn't, it's true, make it easy for to spout off without doing you own, independent damned research), then you've strengthened my position. Which I'm pretty sure you'd prefer not to do.

"Is Jim in St. Louis old and in denial, or young and ignorant of the reality of history? Or just all about, always, blaming everything on women?"

I'd say: some from column A, some from column B, and zero from column C.

With some thought I might agree that maybe men do make male/male prison jokes more than women, but I wasn't trying to make it a bash women topic- sorry if it came out that way.

Usually when some criminal (for example a rapist) goes to prison, that is when people make a comment about he will now be bubba's new wife. I think that people are actually trying to point out the justice or karma of the situation. That the victimizer is now the victim. I was just pointing out the double standard. Rape is wrong, and just cause a person is a creep does not make rape justified or part of the expected punishment.

I would guess that the most victimized men are probably the weakest physically- and nothing to do with the severity of the crime. So the idea that the convict has it coming to him falls flat in my mind. (exception for jokes about Hitler being raped by the Devil or something because that is talking about justice for ones crimes.)

I am now done talking about male rape.

I'm not one who appreciates a "Hey folks" approach. Obama had a penchant for using the word "folks" and doing so made him sound less, not more, sincere to me.

As a word and concept, “folks” becomes a subliminal proxy for kinship. President Obama has been most friendly in this regard. According to an analysis of his news conferences undertaken by Buzzfeed, Obama has used “folks” 7.3 times per 10,000 words, compared with George W. Bush’s 2.2 per 10,000 words. Bill Clinton averaged a mere one use per 10,000 words. Obama even extended the word to truly horrendous actors. “We tortured some folks,” he conceded last year, referring to the kinds of “folks (who) mess with Americans” he spoke of in a debate with Mitt Romney in 2012. They might be terrorists, but there’s no reason a president has to talk down to these folks (even when torturing them)...

The other thing is that within my own family, "folks" was a word that was part of the vernacular, primarily on account of my mother (born in 1939), raised on a farm in Indiana by a mother (born in 1904) whose own mother (born in 1861) never really learned to speak English, which is why a whole lot of German was spoken or at least passed down in fragments, sometimes roughly.

There's nothing insincere about it.
